  1. soccer10k and the Raiders are now on the clock. I PMd him.
  2. Same thing for me. I'm living in east Tennessee, but supposedly I'm in Cincy territory (and FSN Tennessee actually carries the games, inexplicably). But they're not carrying this game. So I'm watching the Royals/Indians and out of luck for the Cubs.
  3. They'd have to get Heilman stretched out really quickly for that. He's only been a 1 inning a game guy and that is not a recipe for being a spot starter. The first options in case one of our starters go down would likely be Mitch Atkins or Kevin Hart since they called up Shark for the pen.
  4. If that is not the case, and there is a run on receivers, I hope Angelo doesn't get desperate and overdraft a guy in his spot. If you have to take the 8th or 9th best player at a position that early in the draft, you're probably reaching. They still need help in other places. If there is a run on receivers, and offensive lineman start to slip, I would still like to see them take somebody to provide further depth, and insurance against the very significant possibility that Orlando Pace doesn't last the season, let alone into next season. Agreed. And actually, unless one of the top 6 WRs is on the board (Britt, Nicks, or Harvin are most likely to fall to 49), then they should NOT pick a WR. I like Iglesias out of OU a lot, but not at 49. I think a WR with more upside will be there at 99 anyway. And like you said, I'd rather get the 2nd best FS, 5th best DE, 3rd best DT or 5th best OL, over the #8-9 WR. What about Murphy? He's a guy with very solid physical skills who should be there. I think Louis Murphy would be a solid value at 49.
  5. He's still listed, but only because I'm leaving the original guys on the board even when they ask off. He did say he didn't want to continue with this one. And I have a Bengals fan friend who would hate taking yet another running back in the top two rounds. Cincy would have taken more RBs in the first two rounds than the Titans have in recent years. Brown's a good player, though.
  6. The question is, though, why did they start Samardzija in the rotation at AAA this season? Did they change their mind in two starts and decide he now is not starter material? It would seem if they saw his future as a closer at the start of the year that they would have put him there in the first place at Iowa. And if they didn't see him as a closer at the start of the year, but now do, what made them change their mind?
  7. Cutting Vizcaino isn't necessarily the bad part of it all. Calling up Samardzija and putting him in the bullpen and the timing of it all are what I have problems with. Vizcaino was probably going to be his usual average self after a while, so losing him isn't terrible. It's better than cutting Angel or Patton. But, why make the move now? Wait til Vizcaino starts to move toward what he really is and maybe if he can stay good for a couple more weeks, some team would be willing to trade for him. Also, Samardzija should eventually be a starter. Over the course of the season he may be a better reliever than Vizcaino, but there are certainly going to be better relief options than Vizcaino available in trade fairly soon and calling up Shark now only serves to slow his development. Leave him in AAA and let him start. If you have to call someone up, let it be someone with less upside - like Mitch Atkins or Jose Ascanio.
  8. Part of the reason I love the draft: Both of these quotes are from different sections of the Cleveland Plains-Dealer.
  9. I think this mock's first round could be fairly realistic, but the previous mock's second round was probably closer to reality. WrigleyField 22 and the Bengals are now on the clock. I'll PM him.
  10. Nicks to the Colts, Britt to the Giants. Or Britt to the Giants, Nicks to the Titans. Not sure how likely, but I can see it.
  11. Now that he's shown he can hit and pitch it would take at least Marmol to get that deal done.
  12. Vizcaino was doing well. Yeah I suppose. Then again they're releasing him. Hence the "was".
  13. Yeah, I kind of expected a move at some point - but not in late April. I especially didn't expect Samardzija to be up at all this season (save for September when rosters expand), much less in late April.
  14. Alright, no sign of Mike Aller, so I guess I'll make this one. The Browns have a need for a pass rusher and there's one who is one of the best values on the board. So, the Browns select OLB/DE Larry English from Northern Illinois. mhuber and the Seahawks are now on the clock. I'll PM him.
  15. Sweet! Apparently I get Fox Sports Tennessee and on that station is none other than Reds games. I get the Cincy feed, but at least I'm watching the Cubs!
  16. And Bruce basically confirmed it in his blog. Given how little Vizcaino has pitched, I really don't see much of a point with this. Samardzija needs to work on his secondary stuff and I am still concerned about how effective he will be in the long haul in the bullpen at this point. I don't understand it either. I've never been a big Vizcaino fan but we're starting to run out of adequate options now that we've cut out Gaudin and Vizcaino. Hopefully Samardzija can in some way repeat his 2-ish ERA from last year. Though I doubt it.
  17. And Bruce basically confirmed it in his blog.
  18. I'd hit Theriot ahead of Miles. Without a second thought.
  19. What if it's a poor call by the ump? We've all seen pitches that aren't anywhere near the zone be called strike 3. Would you rather players start flailing wildly anytime they get two strikes - just to ensure no mistake is made by the ump? That old adage that "if it's close enough to be called, it was close enough to swing at" is not always true. Or, if it's a pitcher taking the third strike, I'm perfectly fine with a guy who is not good at hitting and is not getting paid to hit trying to coax a walk. If that means he has a few extra strike 3s called, I'm fine with that. What if it's a physical mistake? For instance, the pitcher intended to throw the fastball inside, but it slipped. Or, it was a breaking ball that didn't break nearly as much as he wanted. Those are physical errors that are going to happen to a pitcher. I'm with TT completely on booing.
  20. His first year was good, but then he got progressively worse fast.
  21. The candidates for the new Madden cover have been revealed: Troy Polamalu Peyton Manning Larry Fitzgerald Matt Cassell DeMarcus Ware Ben Roethlisberger Brandon Jacobs Adrian Peterson Ed Reed
  22. Sure. It's only been a few picks and I doubt any of the picks made would want Duke anyway.
