Keep gathright and you only have 1 guy you feel comfortable going to in the middle of the game, for any purpose when Bradley is out. I feel comfortable with Gathright playing defense and running the bases.

I think that's a smokescreen. Maclin seems to be the kind of "speed" that Undead Al craves. I see Maclin going to Oakland. I would think so too. But I tend to put a decent amount of stock into the Total Access guys.

Interestingly enough, Tom Waddle just said on Total Access that Jeremy Maclin's stock has been dropping a lot of late. He didn't understand why, but said it was fallling. Still no way he'd fall to the Titans, though, I'd say.

Exactly. Hendry has made some mind boggling moves, but almost all of them have been in non-core areas. Neifi, Macias, Aaron Miles, Rusch and Ordonez were all terrible moves, but none are/were critical members of the team. When he starts handing out superstar deals to the likes of Adrian Beltre, Gary Matthews Jr., Jason Schmidt, Mike Hampton, etc., etc., then I'll call him "one of the 5 worst GMs in the game." If I had the choice for the team, he wouldn't be at the top of my GM list, but there are quite a few who would be below him. How about some good moves he's made of late: acquiring Aaron Heilman giving Geo a shot (even if it was perhaps a bit late) sticking with Theriot (so far) trying Marmol in the pen signing Fukudome (looking better all the time) acquiring Mike Fontenot I realize people can go back and forth with this and that's not my intent. Just wanted to get some positivity in for Hendry. :D

Good move for the Falcons, I think. Yes, they lost 3 FAs this offseason (Foxworth, Boley, Brooking) and should get 3 comps picks and possibly 2 in the 3rd round. If they are good again, the pick will be in the 50s next year. And acquiring Tony Gonzalez will go a long way to make sure they're good again next year.

The Titans don't value WRs enough to trade up to get one. In fact, I don't remember the last time Floyd Reese or Mike Reinfeldt traded up in the first couple rounds.

If he's a reach, it's not by much. He's got all kinds of upside, but is a bit raw. It seems to me he's kind of fallen through the cracks because of Florida's immense talent. He didn't produce greatly in Florida, but it's a little more forgivable when you have Andre Caldwell, Percy Harvin, Cornelius Ingram, Tim Tebow, Emanuel Moody, Chris Rainey, etc. all on the same offense. The ball can only go to so many players. If you could move back and get him at 60, though, that'd be a good value - it's risky, though. He sounds kind of like Bradley. All kinds of physical talent, but just wasn't the go-to guy so he never had a real shot at big numbers. I've heard there are some character concerns, but he seemed to move past them his past 2 seasons. It's a risk, maybe even a reach @ 49. He sounds like physically exactly the kind of WR we need though. I'm watching my fading hope for a Britt/Nicks fall-though going by the boards, and it's making me sad :( Sorry, I'd say either of Nicks or Britt falling are low. Pretty much everything I've seen have both going in the first round. As for Murphy, there's definitely risk there. But there's also immense talent and potential. And keep in mind, the biggest difference between Bradley and Murphy is the guy throwing them the ball. Bradley never had a young Pro Bowler throwing him the ball.

Since 2005 Polanco has had 4 seasons with a better OPS+ than Miles' best - significantly better in 3 of those seasons. I believe he's also a decent amount better defensively (purely on reputation, though). Polanco would be a better option, but I expect he'd cost too much. Especially when you factor in the money you'd have to eat to ditch Miles, which presumeably is what's being proposed here. I actually don't think eating Miles' money would be that bad (not that there's a chance it'll happen). This is the final year of Polanco's deal and he's been getting paid roughly $4.6 million a year. If we acquired him and cut Miles and Polanco produces (100-110 OPS+ for instance), we could potentially bring him back for around $3 million next year. Add Miles' $2.5 million to that and you're giving Polanco $5 million to be a solid bench option. Yes he's being paid too much, but not incredibly so. The prospect cost would be too great, I think.

He appears to be on the downside of his career, but if we could get him for fairly cheap he's be a much better option than Aaron Miles off the bench.

With Bradley essentially inactive, leaving only 3 bench players and a backup catcher on the roster (and one of the bench players being your only MI backup) that's really putting yourself at a disadvantage offensively. How about DLing Bradley and calling up Shark? It gives us the extra arm (if you want it) and gives Hendry more time to shop one of the bullpen arms before making a decision.

If you get suspended at work for 2 days, no pay, but you don't think you did what you're accused of doing would you just take the punishment because maybe your company wouldn't get some big account otherwise? If he legitimately thinks he didn't do anything, he's got every right to appeal. If he's too hurt to play, why not fly to NY, do the appeal, and find out the decision then? And he isn't getting punished by his employer. That comparison makes no sense. He's not getting in trouble by his employer (the Cubs), he's getting in trouble with their boss (like if you got in trouble with the government at your job). I know that my employer would want me to take care of my problem with the government swiftly and with as little problem to the company as possible (especially considering his contract is guaranteed and paid by the Cubs, not MLB). You can't just go do the appeal. I'm pretty sure MLB sets up a time for you to come there and make the appeal and it's not subject to being set by the player or his team.
