  1. Hendry probably likes Silva's pitches and believes he has the potential to rebound. I guess.
  2. Why is there a comma there? Because he hit that little button to the right of the M key. Dramatic pause. I really don't like this move.
  3. There's probably a lot better job security as a minor league hitting instructor since they don't get fired as a scapegoat when minor league teams aren't winning. Gerald Perry was the best hitting coach the Cubs have had in many years but they had to blame somebody for the poor offense last year. It'll be interesting to see first-hand how good Jaramillo is.
  4. If you look back here or in the ND coaching thread, you'll see that I posted something about footballcoachscoop running baseless rumors. A guy literally emailed them from a hotmail account and said he heard a rumor (that was unbelievable) and they not only ran it, but embellished. It's a terrible website. I didn't even notice he cited football coachscoop.
  5. But his 4 TDs, with one of them to Collie, helped my team a heck of a lot more. :P This is true. I still have CJ to counter that, though. :D Which hopefully won't be much of a counter. :p No team contains Chris Johnson.

  7. Good math skills. better than the announcer's Ah, figured that must be why you posted that. I've got it on mute, what did they say? He repeatedly said it was a 4 point game, which I thought was pretty funny. That's awesome.

  10. This game has flown by it seems, but at the same time it's a shootout.
  11. For full disclosure, one of the TDs was a kick off return, and the Jags have yet to be forced to punt either. This is a good point on the kickoff return. It had slipped my mind. And yeah, the Colts aren't giving a clinic on defense either. The Peyton pick on Indy's opening drive helped my fantasy team, though.
  12. Peyton is 12 for 12 passing so far in the first half tonight. The Colts have had the ball 3 times and have scored 3 TDs. Jags can't stop them.
  13. For those interested (probably just me and TheVolCub): Kippy Brown was at Tennessee in the '80s and '90s when we put out wide receivers like Carl Pickens and Alvin Harper. I really like this move. He's apparently also worked with Andre Johnson while an assistant in the NFL.
  14. Redflash and others may be interested in this:
  15. He's not going to take Mike Fontenot and turn him into Chase Utley or anything, but I think he will help with the hitter's consistency, quickly finding flaws in their swings and adjusting it before it turns into a prolonged slump. Will be interesting to see what he can do with Soriano and Fukudome, 2 hitters that have been known to fall badly away from their swing mechanics from time to time. \ gerald perry and von joshua were already considered among the best hitting coaches. rudy's contribution will be negligible. Considered to be the best hitting coaches by whom? This has been said so frequently on this board that I think people are taking it as the gospel. I find it hard to believe that if they were in fact considered two of the best hitting coaches that they haven't found employment yet. In Von Joshua's case, he ended up going back to the minor league system. I'm sure its possible that Von Joshua loved Des Moines so much that he would rather be there than with a big league club, but it is unlikely. At his age and with his emphasis on teaching hitting approach, Joshua may prefer working in AAA where there's less stress and focus.
  16. Very good news.
  17. For what it's worth, the Titans have the 7th best rush defense in terms of yardage allowed. That could account quite a bit for Jackson's less than stellar game. Jacobs hasn't done much this year.

The biggest thing I think Jaramillo can provide is work on technique. Both Perry and Joshua, from my understanding, focused significantly on a hitter's approach. Jaramillo, however, is more of a mechanics guy. As someone said earlier, having Jaramillo to try to keep guys like Kosuke and Soriano – who often struggle keeping their mechanics in line – using their best mechanics could be a bonus we didn't have previously. We certainly didn't lose anything, as we still have Lou teaching the OBP/patience approach. How much will improvement will that provide? I don't know, but it has the potential to be more than negligible.
  19. Surely they have a few bucks laying around. Have they really splurged on anything since Miguel Tejada? Was it Baltimore or Washington that made a massive offer to Teixeira last offseason? I think it was the Orioles, but I'm not sure. Baltimore made a play for the hometown kid, not sure how massive the offer ended up being. Baltimore had the highest payroll in the league back in the late 90's, leapfrogging with the Yankees until NY pulled away. Andy MacPhail's MO has been to allow for one big contract on the team, with Sosa, then nearly Hampton replacing Sammy. It wouldn't surprise me. They both made offers but Washington's was the larger, something like 120/7. That's what I remembered then. I knew one of them offered up a huge deal, but didn't remember that both were after him.
  20. You probably don't want me answering your questions. There's a reason I ask so many on here, I never know if I know what I'm doing. If you want my advice, however, Tyrant, I'd go with Peyton. He's the better QB with more potential than Schaub and there's always the chance the Texans go up big early and focus on handing the ball off.
  21. Play it safe; sit both of them to protect against negative points. Only if you agree to sit Peyton and Vince to avoid the same thing.
  22. They and the Rangers agreed to the trade, but before it became official there were some questions raised about Lowell's health. That's held up the deal so far.

  24. Redskins president of football operations and GM Vinny Cerrato has resigned this morning. And just a couple hours later, it appears the Redskins will hire Bruce Allen to fill the position.
