  1. I feel like he's just rehashing info we already have heard. It's nice to know JH is at least exploring the trade market. Yeah, that's what I figured. If he really wanted one of those two, I imagine he'd be going harder after them.
  2. Two items of interest: Panthers to retain John Fox, his staff and GM Marty Hurney. Also, former Buckeye Troy Smith wants to be traded.
  3. More like 40ish. And unless it's a minor league contract, I don't want nothing to do with Jose. I'm thinking 1-year, $1-2 million contract. Unlikely, but that's about the only contract I'd agree to.
  4. Spilborghs might be an interesting CF option if he came cheap enough. Decent offense the last few years (save last year) and slightly below average defensively in center. Most of the recent reports I've heard stated that Hendry wasn't thrilled with the current free agents, hence the possibilities of trades like Ellsbury and Fernando Perez. Wonder if Levine is accurate about Byrd and Podsednik being on the top of his list? I hope not. I guess I'd take Contreras at a really cheap contract, but I'm not thrilled about the idea. He's been ok, but he's also 40.
  5. Here's an interesting story behind Meyer's decision making process.
  6. Actually, many people here were against unloading the farm for Granderson. But I guess sine a few people wanted to, that should apply to the entire board, right? Did I say everybody wanted to trade a bunch of prospects for Granderson? Also, if I'm not mistaken, the sentiment for trading 3 good prospects for Granderson was pretty much favorable among a majority of the posters. No, but you made it seem like there were a lot, when there really wasn't. My bad, if I misinterpreted your point. That said, trading three good prospects does not equal unloading the farm. 3 good prospects (depending on who they are) does equal unloading the farm if you have a lousy farm system. Our farm system isn't lousy.
  7. And I imagine it is "don't let the door hit ya" time for Delhomme as well. Matt Moore has done pretty well so far. Or perhaps not . . .
  8. But the Jets will be out in the first round, so it doesn't really matter. Damn it!!! The Colts always play like crap in the playoffs when they sit for the last game or two at the end of the season. I hate this. The Colts wouldn't expect to play the Jets in this scenario. But the Jets making the playoffs would keep out all but one of the Steelers, Ravens, Broncos, Texans, and Dolphins. It would also possibly/likely set up a second-round matchup with the Bengals, who would be the next least-intimidating playoff team (in my opinion). That makes sense, but I still don't understand not telling the players you're going to pull them at some point in the game.
  9. Peyton should give Caldwell the finger and just go in on the next drive. You're really giving up the game by pulling Peyton there. It really makes no sense. I completely understand pulling the starters if you're up three TDs or sitting guys that have nagging injuries, but like you said, pulling him in a five-point game late in the third quarter doesn't make much sense. If Peyton doesn't go back in, I'll definitely be rooting against the Colts in the playoffs. If it was predetermined, that's one thing. But that's a random spot to pull the starters, plus apparently not even telling them you plan to beforehand?
  10. Peyton should give Caldwell the finger and just go in on the next drive. You're really giving up the game by pulling Peyton there. It really makes no sense.
  11. Peyton seemed to have no idea that he was going to be pulled. Why wouldn't Caldwell consult with Peyton before pulling him?
  12. And screw the Colts for doing it. Now they're losing because they have Curtis Painter in the game. Put Peyton back in and go for 16-0. Resting the guys didn't help them at all in the playoffs a few years ago when they won their first 12 or 13. I can understand resting the starters, but why wait until late in the third quarter with just a five-point lead to pull only Peyton? It just seems really random to pull him there. Especially after it appeared Peyton thought he was going to play the entire game, as long as it was competitive.
  13. That's a really strange time to take Peyton out of the game.
  14. Meyer has decided to take a leave of absence and return to the field next season:
  15. There are apparently two possibilities: Or:
  16. I actually thought Chris Henry ought to get an opportunity to play since we used a second round pick on him. You're probably right on taking a special talent when you find him, though.
  17. That was about the only positive thing said about Chris Johnson and even that was an underwhelming endorsement. I had the opinion that he was a really nice player with a ton of speed, but that drafting a running back was overkill and that we had more pressing needs. I liked CJ, but didn't think he'd be this good.
  18. I keep hearing he has no interest whatsoever in leaving Boise. He's rumored for just about every major job nonetheless, though. Not sure I can blame him. It is a sweet gig up there for him. Yeah, he apparently loves it there, plus it's almost an easy conference championship every year. Plus that blue field is awesome.
  19. I keep hearing he has no interest whatsoever in leaving Boise. He's rumored for just about every major job nonetheless, though.
  20. He's a virtual lock to beat Faulk's record for yards from scrimmage in a season. He's at 2355 and needs 75 yards to break that. What a fun player to watch. At the Colts game a few weeks ago, the crowd almost in unison gasped every time he touched the ball (as did I). Seems like he could go for 80 every touch. Wish the Colts weren't doomed to face him twice a year for the foreseeable future. I look rather foolish now for panning that pick when they made it. He's truly a special player and I love having him on the Titans.
  21. I'd say Mullen, Stoops, Petrino and Saban would be on Florida's short list. It'd likely take $6+ million to pull Saban away from Bama, so I doubt that one. Stoops may well take the job and I think Mullen or Petrino definitely would. It'd be interesting to see Phil Fulmer take the job.
  22. I don't think we'll see another 97-win season, but I think a 90-92 win season is fairly realistic. Not likely, but realistic.
  23. He definitely should get a head coaching job. He's a very good offensive coordinator and, like you said, is the key reason behind McNair becoming an MVP caliber QB. Kerry also had one of his best NFL seasons under Dinger last year. He's earned a shot at a head coaching gig and it'd be nice to see him work with Cutler again.
  24. There's actually a lot of talk that Heimerdinger should be the Titans' coach next year. I think he'd be a solid choice for a team not willing to pay the top coaches the money.
  25. Man, we simply weren't good at all tonight. Our corners struggle against corners that win physically at the line of scrimmage and Finnegan and Harper simply couldn't bump Floyd and Jackson off their routes. Once a receiver gets a clean release off the line, our corners are beat. This team needs an athletic, coverage-oriented safety/corner in the offseason. Eric Berry would be perfect for this team. The Chargers are a really good team, but are beatable. It'll be an interesting playoff setup, especially if the Colts/Chargers meet in the AFC Championship game in Indy. CJ only needs 128 yards against the Seahawks to get 200. That's very possible for him.
