  1. Alright, this is part two of the NSBB mock draft. We'll start back from the beginning of the draft and see how picks change over the course of the 4 or so weeks since we started the first mock draft. If anybody doesn't want to participate in this mock draft or if anybody wants to participate who didn't in the first mock draft, post it in this thread or PM me and I'll make the corresponding change. I'll re-post the war rooms and we'll start up the Rams' pick. 2. Keep this in mind on Kosuke as well - his prolonged slumps while in the majors have come from his mechanics at the plate getting out of whack. Every time his old batting coach from Japan has come to the states to work with him, he's performed much, much better. Jaramillo specializes in working with the batters' mechanics. If he can keep Kosuke out of those prolonged slumps, he could really boost that OPS quite a bit.
  3. Ignoring defense, sure. But like Dunn and Hawpe, their defense really hurts their value and, depending on cost, are possibly less valuable than Kosuke. Kubel: .907 OPS; -20 UZR/150 Cuddyer: .862 OPS; -10.1 UZR/150 Kosuke: .796 OPS; 18.2 UZR/150 (OPS is from 2009; UZR/150 is career as a right fielder) If Kuble can repeat that .907 OPS, then he's definitely on the list. It's nearly 100 points better than he's ever hit before, though. If he drops back to low-.800s, high-.700s like much of his career, Kosuke is better.
  4. I could be convinced to pay a bit of Fukudome's salary in that deal. :-)
  5. That Baylor/Duke Elite Eight game was terrible. But I think this is the best shot at someone taking down UConn ... though that's not saying much at all. Yeah, I felt like the winner of the Tennessee/Baylor game would have a shot at UConn (probably the best in the tournament). That said, if Baylor (or UT if we had beaten Baylor) is going to win, they'll have to play a fantastic game.
  6. I'm interested in it. I don't think there's much of a chance Baylor wins, but if they're going to, Griner will have to have a really big game. I think she can play well against Tina Charles, but Maya Moore (and a few others) are still going to be tough to stop.
  7. I still don't see why a player's 26 year old season when he still has options left is a make or break year for him. If he was out of options, I could understand, but there's no reason why we should rush him at this point. Like I said I like Fukudome and think he is undervalued by many because they expected .300+ and 20+ HR's but he is still vastly over payed and I would consider any trade that allows us to shed that contract. I'd definitely listen to offers, but I wouldn't ship him out if I'm paying much - if any salary - and if I don't get good (maybe B+ or better) prospects. We have little incentive to trade him as his contract isn't particularly restrictive. It's not an 8 year deal or even a 5 year deal. He's only under contract for two more seasons and there are very few OF options better than him on the market in that timespan. And I definitely don't think he's vastly overpaid. Overpaid a bit maybe, but when defense is taken into consideration, he's pretty close to worth what he's being paid, I think.
  8. I like Colvin more than most on this board, but I simply don't see him being ready to be a full-time, productive ML outfielder at this point. Nady has some health questions still lingering and won't be fully ready to go for a while now. If we trade Kosuke now, there's no way we improve as a team. Without getting a good deal from the Nats (or whoever), I don't see the benefit in it.
  9. Why rush Colvin though? He was a raw player coming into pro baseball and 25 isn't an age where you either make it or you wash out. If he was forcing his way into the lineup, I could understand aggressively trying to get him into the lineup, but last year between A+ and AA, he hit .812. He still has options, is only 25 and hasn't torn up professional pitching to this point. Patience is the best strategy with him right now, I think. If he shows improvement this season, then I might consider dealing Kosuke in the offseason, but I don't see the positive in making the team significantly worse if we don't get a good deal in return.
  10. I see where you're coming from, but without a long-term option almost ready to start in right, I don't see the benefit to significantly weakening the position - unless the Nats gave us a really good deal. Here's the 2011 FA OF class per Cot's: The only players I might take over Kosuke in that group are Dunn, Hawpe, Crawford and Werth. Barring a Colvin breakout or a trade, we're looking at two years (at least) of poor right field production if we trade Kosuke.
  11. Dye OPS: .793 Giles OPS: .548 (61 games) Kosuke OPS: .796 Those are last year's numbers for each player. I'd take Kosuke significantly over either of the other two even before taking defense into account (which Kosuke is way, way better than both of them). If I'm trading Kosuke and replacing him with either, I want a good return from the Nats to even consider it.
  12. Yeah, I'd only trade him for a pretty good return. No in-house options to replace him means he'd leave a big hole if we traded him.
  13. I say start a new one. If theres a large group that wants to keep going, they can do just a committee type mock for the rest, and just have two separate threads. I'll start up a new thread for a new mock draft anyway. We can finish up Vanilla Ice's pick and then plan on starting a mock draft 2.0 like we did last year.
  14. Alright, PCP responded and I didn't see it. The Titans are in need of help at linebacker as it appears Bulluck won't be re-signed and Thornton is getting older. We have Gerald McRath, but not much else in terms of young starting potential on the bench (Stephen Tulloch is already entrenched as a starter). Jamar Chaney has posted some very good 40 times this offseason (4.46 and 4.48 at his pro day) and has a similar build to Bulluck. So, the Titans select Jamar Chaney, OLB, Mississippi State. Vanilla Ice and the Falcons are on the clock. I PMd him.
  15. I'll give Post Count Padder more time to chime in on this pick. A player we had discussed previously is still on the board, but I want to check with him first. And again, I still need input on whether to start up a second mock or to continue with this one. So far we've basically got one person for continuing and one person for starting a new one.
  16. Didn't Rothschild say he found a flaw in Silva's delivery that he fixed? If so, I'll be interested to see the effect that has, but I'm not taking much from the actual spring results.
  17. Since OMC is trying to take a defensive end, we'll go with another one here for the Saints. New Orleans takes Jermaine Cunningham, DE, Florida. rocket and the Bengals are on the clock. I PMd him.
  18. A 3rd and a 4th.
  19. Browns acquire CB Sheldon Brown and LB Chris Gocong from the Eagles for Cleveland's 4th and 5th round picks and LB Alex Hall. Good move for the Browns, I think.
  20. Truly running back by committee I guess.
  21. I went to the UT spring game last year and will again this year.
  22. Cowboys cut Flozell Adams and Ken Hamlin.
  23. Already taken.
  24. I'll go ahead and bump this to the new page to see if anybody else wants to give input.
  25. OMC and the Saints are on the clock. I PMd him.
