  1. Well, that only counts PA's that end on those counts, which means he either struck them out or they put the ball in play. Considering he can't strike anybody out, that's not exactly surprising. It shows he has no out-pitch and his sinker isn't as sharp as it was, which is the ultimate demise of any chance of him showing any production at all. When you throw 85% of one pitch, that better be a damn good pitch. Ramon Ortiz is to Pedro Martinez what Carlos Silva is to..... Derek Lowe
  2. I'm happy they got rid of him, they had to get rid of him. Manager hated him as well as most of his teammates. Instead of trying to make that problem less worse, they made increased the damage depending on how poorly Silva does or what that extra money brings in. Silva is bad, but he won't be as bad as he was with Seattle in '08 even with the lack of MI range. None of that is a reason to get rid of a player. Why not get rid of the manager if he's incapable of managing the guy (and hasn't exactly been doing a bangup job nor is he owed much in comparison). Sure it is, you're looking at it through idealism rather than realism. Hendry isn't going to rid of a manager at this stage or the players that don't like him compared to one player viewed as the troublemaker. They're not cleaning house to coddle one player. I don't want Piniella managing this team nor Hendry running the FO but they're here and while this will probably be each of their last years in Chicago, they'll do what they can to win now. They probably see it as not being to afford all the headaches and distractions of Bradley coming back that might happen and poss. eliminate whatever chance they had at making the playoffs. Bradley is/was the scapegoat and they had to get rid of him based off of that.

  4. I didn't think the Bradley signing could get any worse and now I'm wrong. Fwiw, I've never seen a worse two-strike pitcher in my life as a starter. He has a below avg. FB (sinker without much velo or movement) and a bad breaking ball and change. His best strength early on was his control and that has become worse. In '08.... On 0-2 counts, hitters hit .323 and a 1-2 counts, hitters hit .315. Lou should strangle him when he leaves a 0-2 sinker down the middle of the plate, of course he might chalk that up to being aggressive in the strike zone. For those wanting him to be in the pen, he doesn't pitch well out of the stretch from what I recall.
  5. Rondo had plenty of talent around him as he was part of the last UK #1 recruiting class with Crawford, Morris, etc. Wall has more touches than Rondo did, especially in situations where he is trying to score/create his own shot and that's something Rondo couldn't do. Rondo scored mainly in transition and off the dribble drive/pick and roll.
  6. Rondo and Wall are different players, especially when Rondo was a Freshman. As mentioned, Rondo didn't have a jumper and slightly quicker than Wall while Wall is less of a traditional PG than Rondo as far as looking to score. Despite being the less traditional PG, Wall has better ball-handling skills. Wall is definitely the most gifted college player in the country and unless there's an injury, he'll go #1.
  7. I don't think any fans are as territorial about anything as Big Ten fans are. I don't mean that as an insult either. sec fans are far worse, trust me. I've never understood it but I agree completely that SEC fans are the worst of the bunch.
  8. Weis would be a definite upgrade over Turner, I would prefer it. With that said, Weis track record at NE is somewhat clouded given how well they have done since he left. It's up to that person to decide whether or not, he created the model they're still using so well or the talent has been a bigger factor in NE's success moreso than what Weis brought to the table. To be honest, I prefer Martz over Weis.
  9. UK had a chance to get to the Outback Bowl and ruined it. They should just move to Tennessee every december, since they can play there every Bowl season.
  10. He's a mediocre DT, who given the Bears poor roster is likely their best DT, which adds value to the team but doesn't take away that he's a complete clown and hasn't been productive since getting hurt/large contract (whichever one leads you to believe why he has dropped his production). Lovie not being able to motivate Harris, falls on Smith more than harris as far as why would they want to keep him. Lovie will be back next year and if he or Marinelli can't get him motivated then what's the point? Fear of cutting the next Cedric Benson shouldn't prevent them from wanting to get rid of another overpaid and soft baby who has to rely on getting cut to realize to get his head out of his ass and actually put some effort out there.
  11. Given that Harris is well into his contract and the cap hit wouldn't be as bad, I can see the Bears cutting him as well as Vasher. Harris can be replaced fairly easily, given how mediocre he has been. It's just bad luck that Anthony Adams has forgotten how to play like he did last year.
  12. I don't see either Angelo or Smith leaving until after next year (Jan 2011). Too much money is tied up in their contracts to be getting rid of them at this point.
  13. Hartline will be out till the whatever bowl game they're in. They have Fresh. Morgan Newton starting at QB, who's been solid but not spectacular (5-1 as a starter).
  14. Or they think the Atlanta based bowl would pick the team based in that state? Don't they want the fans to travel and spend money in their town and stay in their hotels, etc? If so, they'd likely take Tennessee - which is just far enough away for some people to choose to at least spend the night before and after - over Georgia, whose fans can drive to the game on gameday. That said, I really don't see Kentucky getting an Outback Bowl bid and Tennessee getting a Music City bowl bid. The only chance of that happening, I think, is for Tennessee to lose (and maybe convincingly) to UK. A Tennessee loss to Kentucky could happen, but even if it did, Tennessee travels better than UK, is a "bigger name" in football circles and has the potential for more fans to show up due to the Monte/Tampa area tie. Kentucky to the Outback is extremely unlikely. UT or Auburn (or even Georgia) would be picked first. If UK finishes 2nd in the SEC East by beating UT on Sat., I can't see any reason how UK doesn't go to the Outback at 8-4 (4-4). If Auburn beats Bama and goes to 8-4 (4-4) they definitely deserve to go ahead of UK b/c they are the better team and would have equal records. While I think Auburn is still a better team than UK at 7-5 (3-5), UK would still deserve to go ahead of them given that UK has the head to head matchup. This is the biggest game in over 10 years for UK football, since the Tim Couch/Air Raid year of '98. There's definitely a huge difference between the Music City/Independence Bowl and the Outback Bowl both exposure and finanically speaking.
  15. Cutler hasn't been good regardless of the reasoning and while it's not his fault entirely but the chances he has had to make plays, he hasn't made enough of them to consider it a good year for him and definitely not worth what they have allocated to get him (so far). That said, he has had fewer chances than most franchise QBs given that most teams try and provide their #1 asset with talent around him and the Bears have not. They basically have to clean house at this point, start with Phillips and conclude with a new staff.
  16. This team isn't going anywhere. They're not very good at the skill positions and that is compounded by the fact that the O-Line doesn't allow the few decent skill positions to actually become productive. Angelo has done a horrible of addressing the O-Line in recent years and it has cost them, whether it has been few draft picks (Williams and Beekman in't enough) or poor FA signings. With their lack of good skill positions (DBs, WRs, etc.), they could sneak by some teams by how they won in the past by winning ugly. Now, since they get dominated on by sides of the line with well below avg. offensive and defensive line play, they don't have a chance. I dislike this entire staff and wish they had the desire to cut their losses and go after this amazing crop of potential coaches/GMs to start over. Much like the Cubs of '07/'08, (especially with football) that '06 Bears window has long been closed and I don't trust this current group could get them near where they were a few years ago despite having done it once.
  17. I'm content with my 1st year playing...
  18. Shift O'Conner to C and draft him.

  20. Drop Pena, pick up Reynolds...
  21. Of the avail. LBs... 1)Paris Lenon 2)Jaime Winborn 3)Matt Wilhelm Anyone other than that and I doubt there will be much (if any) improvement to the current roster. http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2008/06/scouting_report_paris_lenon.html
  22. I'd also look at Paris Lenon who was cut by the Pats.
  23. If I'm Angelo, I'd be looking at Jaime Winborn (OLB) who was cut by the Falcons 5 days or so ago.
  24. He was retiring. Not sure how much he has left. Last I heard, Thomas hadn't officially retired and was still looking for a team. No idea what he has left, though. I'd rather see an athletic guy off of a team's practice squad than Thomas. At least with Brooks, he's familiar with the cover 2. With Thomas, I'm not sure how much he's been around it.
  25. They really do stink at it, but I think there are a few teams that have similar problems. I think it's Andy Reid who supposedly has a horrible record on challenges. It goes along with Smith's M.O. of just being a bad Sunday decision maker. It was awful yesterday, both were obviously correct calls by the officals. Lovie is a horrible in-game coach when it comes to split-second decisions.
