  1. Yes, normally I wouldn't but there's too much still on the board.
  2. Man, I can't believe Soto has made it up to AA.
  3. My simulated draft so far: 1) Riley Reiff - Iowa I'm disappointed with the pick, it is equally a great need (I'm not a fan of J. Webb, unlike Tice) as OT but I would've preferred Mercilus, Jones, and definitely Perry over him as far as pass rushers.
  4. Not if Kuechly is there at 19. And if we trade down, David would make sense in the bottom 20's, despite being a slight reach. Thats also supposing there isn't also an equally talented player at a position of greater need, but I wouldm't be upset with a LB if the right circumstances happen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk we're set up to win right away, kuechly doesn't help us do that. you draft immediate impact players right away and then projects later on. i don't and have never believed in drafting the best player available, regardless of position. it may be that you have a more talented and seasoned alternative ahead of them on the depth chart. if kuechly falls, you look to trade down, if you can't you draft a pass rusher. If he's there you grab him, helps immediately as he's the safest and most ready pick there. While they need a DE/DT more, they need another LB as Roach was ordinary. Personally, I'm hoping for Gilmore (DB) and Curry (DE) with the 1st two picks.
  5. Volstad has a solid BB/K ratio, Babip, and a very good HR/9 ratio yet b/c of his higher LD%, his ERA is thru the roof. We'll see which trend leads to a change. I'd be more confident if he had better stuff.
  6. Didn't they have motte up in the pen until the homer? I don't think so, but I was flipping channels when it happened.
  7. It's good to see Lahair's AB from the previous night impact this game. If Motte had not thrown 30 pitches the night before, he could've been available.
  8. Very odd metaphor that works better for a team trying to get Soto on the cheap rather than someone trying to justify Soto's value with the Cubs.
  9. It looks to me that he's pulling off the ball, he hasn't been as selective and expanding his zone for the second year in a row and it looks to be getting worse. I wouldn't look to get of him while his value at its lowest, but there are some concerns there long-term.
  10. Great kid, watched him in HS. Why not take a chance, haven't followed him much since being drafted. I know in HS he was 91-93, flashed a plus curve, no change, strong, rigid mechanics.
  11. Nothing stopping him from having a Matt Stairs type of career.
  12. Its so tough to say, this might be the collegiate time for a dead arm, combined with more effort this year pitching to the gun or the worst case scenario.
  13. Agreed. He doesn't have to as far as getting a top class, there's too much ego though. I hate when broadcasters do that, Vitale is awful at that, I didn't hear him do that though obviously remember him doing that for Duke. I despise Digger Phelps for the opposite as much as him and Packer trashed UK, bitter old crotches.
  14. It was 9th grade, you're right. I remember him being 1 or 2 while at Waukegan.
  15. I do find it ironic that only the programs that get caught actually cheat. Nothing has charged against UK since Sutton, should I assume they're clean? Hell, even w/UMass and Memphis Calipari was never charged w/anything wrong, it was those within the respective programs. All of the top programs get dirty and all of the programs that want to have the annual success of those top programs will have to get dirty to match, including Illinois, they would not be the exception to that rule.
  16. I don't know, Self is a great salesman. I think most top programs are dirty in some way, whether it be direct, AAU, or a booster. I would say the odds are high someone in the program broke a code of conduct rule, whether it be a player taking something or a minor recruiting violation, etc. Its probably not the magnitude of UK but to say it was clean under the bs NCAA rules is wishful thinking. I do find it odd that a POS like Richmond as the #1 Soph recruit commits there, I wouldn't assume Weber had any involvement, but I doubt his relationship w/Paul and location were strong enough to not go greener pastures.
  17. Do you think the Illini are going to meet your level of expectations without getting dirty?
  18. Back then, still had the declining Celtics, Lakers, and Detroit. While you didn't have media access as there is today, college bball has declined b/c the quality has declined. Not many are going to watch a UK game on Tues night in Jan like they would for UNLV or the Fab Five back in the early 90s. While the internet and expanded TV made it more easier to follow, it also creates more options to watch something else.
  19. I think the stupid NBA draft eligibility rules have a lot more to do with ruining BB than Cal. It would be better like the NFL, or if they wanted more out of the NBDL than bad collegiate seniors and 250 watching, have the draft like MLB with 3-4 supplemental rounds where you can draft HS kids and give them 3 yrs of service time in the NBDL before they become FAs (unless they get called up before then). Juco players could enter the draft after each year and 4-year schools, they have to wait until they turn 21 and have 1 year of service time in the NBDL. Its not a fluke that both the NCAAs and NBAs popularity peaked at the same time (early 90s, IMO).
  20. Sounds like Noel is Georgetown bound too. Bad day for UK recruiting. Shabazz was likely known to UCLA, I was surprised about Noel. Cry us a river. #1 class again, bitches!!!!!!!!! Its the Dobber! Hopefully he keeps the flat-top. This was huge for us.

  22. Sounds interesting...Will try to find some video on him at some point. I've heard of Dahl. He sounds interesting but not in a 6th overall type of way. Agreed that Dahl's profile sounds like a better bet to come close to his ceiling...Any similarities between Dahl and Brandon Nimmo from last year? They're similar, Dahl has more size and a much better arm.
  23. I'd say Gausman, Wacha and Zimmer all have #2 starter upside. Appel is the only one with ace potential. Agreed with that. I like Correa and love Hawkins. If you guys could throw out comps for the three arms, who would it be? I've always seen Wacha as someone who's stuff reminded me of Dan Haren, but trouble with the other two. Maybe someone thinks Haren is a bad comp, which would be cool because I now know jack shyte on this draft anyway. Heard of Correa and he does sound interesting...Who's Hawkins and what up the middle position does he play? Without the Google I'm going to guess CF. Appel-Morrow with better control. Gausman-Scott Baker. Wacha-Doug Fister w/more velo. Zimmer-Bard with a better change, likely less velo, and weaker slider.

CF'er 6'2" 225 plus plus raw power, 6.65 60yd, throws 92 on the mound, gained attention as a pitcher 1st, needs to learn how to hit breaking balls like most HS'ers do. Higher ceiling than Dahl, IMO b/c of the power and the demand likely req'd from it as offensive numbers cont. to decline, I do think Dahl is a safer bet to come close to his ceiling.
