  1. I hate these damn road games, just throw it in Bloomington, don't give me this neutral BS.
  2. Rondo still needs a shot, I have been less than impressed with this UK team all Fall.
  3. They include Manny and cash & that's tough to beat. Intradivision trades before the season are always more difficult to make if there are more than one potential suitor.
  4. What in the earth is SoSh? Sons of Sam Hahn-Red Soaks message bahrd
  5. Boston would have to eat a ton of Manny's contract for it to work, STL can't afford to add 10 mil to their payroll and still have holes at CF, LF, 2B, bullpen, and bench with about 10 mil to spend after the trade. It'd give them the best 1-2 punch in the game as well as a healthy Rolen, but the rest of the team would be in trouble. Wouldn't you like to see Manny playing RF for the Cards, I'd rather see him play CF? :)
  6. It depends on how well he is in shape, I think getting out of Detroit and being healthy/shape can put him back on the rebound to an extent. There are better options, but I don't think he's any worse than someone like Jones, who I don't want either. I still think he has the possibility of a couple of .280 EqAs left in him.
  7. Welcome to the Board. I don't think there's a lot of difference between him and Huff and if he is in good shape and capable of rebounding as Huff is also looking for rebound year. I do disagree with the diff. between him and Dunn, Dunn is def. a more productive player than Young. Of course, it'd cost more to get him than Young.
  8. I consider Blanco to a starter (starter B)... He'll start about 20%-25% and he won't be used a PH'er unless it is a DS, so situationally he's pretty useless as a RH'ed option facing a LH'er given that Barrett is a RH'er and Baker will use several options before him.
  9. If it came down to Patterson or Hairston, as much as I hate to say it, I'd rather have Hairston.
  10. I'd like to Hairston back as well, but as w/Corey, you have to factor cost as well as Hairston maybe having some trade value to a team looking for a cheap 2B (see STL). Ideally, I hope he's back in that role.
  11. If that's their asking price, you try and work down from there or if they're not going to budge, you weigh your options and decide if it's worth it. It's a bartering system.
  12. Patterson? Or are you assuming he's as good as gone? I think he's gone, I doubt he'll get paid 2.5mil+ to be a defensive replacement in LF/RF and be the 2nd or 3rd LH'ed option off the bench.
  13. So who are you willing to give up? Zambrano or Prior? Don't know, don't know what either team wants for them so it's impossible to gauge. I'll let Hendry handle that aspect. :)
  14. Right now, they have Perez, Mabry, Blanco... As far as additional help. I'd like to see Marrero given a flyer, I think he'll rebound and can play several position in the OF as well as 3rd C. I'd also like to see them take a flyer on Durazo as the LH bat off the bench. That's 5, fill the last spot with someone like Fontenot or a CF'er like Greenberg.
  15. One more side-topic, let's say they can only trade for either Abreu or Tejada... Would you rather have Abreu and Cedeno or Tejada and Jones/Encarnacion, etc. I would rather have Abreu and Cedeno assuming Baker would start Cedeno. If Baker started Perez, I'd rather see them go after Tejada and an overpaid RF'er.
  16. I always thought they should've put Pig Miller in a suit of armor.
  17. Which group would rather have between A & B? Assuming, A is likely the most expensive both in salary and players to acquire. B is more talented as I feel Bradley/Tejada>Lugo/Abreu. But, B has the injury history of Bradley as well as his personality. Ok. I'm a dork. But I just estimated what the impact of Group A vs. Group B. Combining Abreu and Lugo's numbers from last year, I got .291/.382/.438 for an OPS of .820. I took Tejada's numbers from last year, and took Bradley's 162 game average (since he hasn't played a full season), but gave him the .290 BA he had this year in LA (tough hitter's park). So, that gave Bradley a line of .290/.367/.467. Giving Group B a .298/.355/.493 for an OPS of .848. So, technically, assuming healthy Tejada and Bradley might actually be more productive. Although, Abreu and Lugo help address the team's biggest weakness more. Of course, this little "study" did give Bradley the benefit of the doubt and didn't factor in that Abreu had one of his worst seasons in years and could rebound. That said, I'd take group A if the cost was similar (prospects wise), because OBP, health, and Abreu's big LH bat. Raw here's a quick way to use an adjusted OPS that makes up for the difference between OBP and SLG which incorrectly weighs in favor of SLG. This is one way to do it... (.340 OBP is typically avg. and the standard for a decent OBP) OBP+SLG+(OBP-.340) Oddly enough, if you do that... Both come out to .862 for OPS As Abreu/Lugo have .042 added to OPS, while Tejada/Bradley have .015 added. I'm a bigger dork.
  18. That was the worst look I have ever seen or Smitz wearing black socks during the Pacers playoff run. 1.8 seconds is why I went with Sandberg over Pippen.
  19. He keeps himself in great shape, still has a very quick bat (despite the weight of it), and will likely be a part-time role. He's still very productive, I have a great deal of respect for what he has been able to accomplish.
  20. There's a metaphor about a door hitting a person in a certain region as he exits. It applies nicely there. I hope Dusty is as anxious to leave as I am for him leaving. (if true)

I would take A as well, even though I'm concerned about Lugo regressing, even though he did change his approach. Either way, if the stars could ever align like that, that would be the most balanced and productive line-up since the '84 lineup (even with Bowa's dead bat). Like the '84 line-up, it would have the potential to have 6 players with 80 RBIs, which is amazing.
  22. Past dictates future though, A-Gone dictated a large portion of the Cubs' past (all in one play).

  24. Just for speculation in an ideal world. Let's say team A is going after Lugo and Abreu Team B is going after Tejada and Bradley Team C is going Tejada and Jones, Encarnacion, Sanders, etc. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Team A spends likely the most financially b/c of Abreu's and Lugo's contract being slightly higher. But, which team acquires the most talent between A & B? Which team has to get rid of the most players between A & B, while I assume ii would take more to get Tejada, what would be the difference in acquiring Lugo or Bradley? Would it cost more to get Bradley and Tejada or Lugo and Abreu? I have no idea.
  25. Somewhat of an off-topic, this is a question I don't have an answer for but... Who would likely demand more, Philly for Abreu or Balt. for Tejada?
