  1. Wilson for the bulk of those 3 years played in Coors field minus the half season in Washington. Both are garbage, IMO.
  2. If the manager and GM are not content with the ownership's desire to spend, are you saying the fans should be content? I'll be upset if the Cubs don't spend 100 mil, they've set that bar themselves and cont. to raise by increasing ticket prices and expansion. The Cards had a 92 million dollar payroll last year, lost several key players including 2/3rds of starting OF and replaced them with........ They've done a decent job of replacing Eldred, King, and Tavarez and that's where the off-season ends, unless you consider Cruz and Miles as useful additions, which they haven't shown to be. There's money out there that they can spend, they haven't done it. Like Cubs fans, Cards fans should be upset with how this off-season has gone so far, it's been bad for both teams. I think they should exceed the 92 payroll, if they made implications that the new stadium would generate new revenue that would go directly into the payroll.
  3. If the rumors about LaRussa/Jocketty being upset with management not expanding payroll to the point where they could include Grudzielanek, then I think fans have equal right to be upset with it. But, they had offers to Morris and Burnett that were greater than what the salaries of Rincon and Looper have totaled. They still have money to burn, just not much to spend it on.
  4. How can you call bowling a sport and hiking, skiing, jogging, a recreational activity? Compare to those, bowling is like watching TV and eating ding dongs.
  5. He doesn't have the outside shot yet, many teams are playing man to man and if Rondo becmae more of a scorer they could easily zone up and stop him, especially as streaky as Sparks is. He's a great transition scorer, but not as good in the half court game. I'm just glad Sims doesn't have to be the low post scorer anymore.
  6. Semantics, basically. No player is untouchable, it'll just take a heck of a lot to get him.
  7. Definitely good news, I'm glad it's behind this team and they can go forward. They'll still need to find a go to scorer.
  8. #51 is taken. Gallagher wore #51 in the one Daytona game he pitched. =; Somewhere, Jeff Pico weeps. Pico wore #41.
  9. The off-season of overpaying for situational pitchers continues. Dead wrong, Looper and Rincon are perfect for Baker. Looper does well vs. RH'ers and Rincon does well vs. Lh'ers. It's a straight R/R or L/L matchup, it goes by the book, Baker would just as well as LaRussa as far as managing them. If Rincon's best pitch was a change-up and he did better vs. Rh'ers, Baker and the Cubs would be in trouble.
  10. How so? That staff was as healthy as it'll be in '03, staff missed a combined 5-6 starts (all Prior's) and that team won 88 games. This year's offense with Wilson in RF would likely not score as many runs as the '03 offense. 88 wins won't win the division again, no matter how crappy the off-seasons look for STL and Houston.
  11. It'll dictate plenty for the Cubs, he'll likely be the 5th hitter hitting behind Ramirez and Lee, that's a lofty responsibility, Burnitz had that task and did not perform well. For most of the year, the hitter who came up to bat with the highest amount of runners on was Burnitz.
  12. I hope another team would try and take that chance, one that has the flexibility of not having their season dependent on Wilson.
  13. Patterson busts his rear end, he lacks instincts but give a great deal of effort, unlike Wilson.
  14. Thank god, I haven't, My family would disown me. Have you? Bowling is on a separate level than Basketball, Football, etc... More importantly to me, it is a on a separate level than the sports I still am active in... Jogging, Skiing, Baseball, Kayaking, Hiking, etc. Those are much more demanding than Bowling, regardless of time consumption.
  15. If there's a player that I watch and disappoints me less than Wilson, I have yet to see him. Physically, he's extremely gifted has great bat speed, power, etc. His approach to the game is in the toilet, he lacks effort and instincts, and despite his skills, he can't overcome the fact he puts little effort into his game. It would be a waste to bring him in.
  16. Cotts has always had the projection of an above avg. pitcher. Before last year, I thought he should've been given a chance to start again.
  17. NASCAR is physically demanding, Bowling isn't. Lump bowling into catagories like ping-pong, golf, golden tee, etc. you could be 5'2" and weigh 500 pounds and still do well at it unlike sports that require physical endurance. Different catagories of sport, bowling is just on the one at the btm of the totem pole.

When creating various forms of body language is the most athletic thing about an event, it is not a sport.
  19. What would SF do with 2 2B and no SS? They currently don't have a hole at 2B and would now have one at SS. Doesn't make sense.
  20. I think Wilson's value has dropped too low for even Hendry to consider him a viable option, unless Hendry is bargain shopping, which I don't see him taking that low risk/potentially low reward we'd see with Wilson.
  21. I wanted the Cubs to sign Jenks. No risk involved.
  22. They've already done everything you mentioned w/out trading McCarthy, they've increased ticket sales, they've increased their market share in the city and deservingly so. They have the chance to get better McCarthy will be better than Hernandez, he'll be better than Garland, Contreras, and Vazquez which is a great 1-5. He'll be right there with Garcia. If Balt. is set on trading Tejada, the White Sox have the most to offer even w/out giving up McCarthy. Why buy high? McCarthy is the future of that team. He'll be what Prior should've been in '04 and '05. If they want a SS, go for Lugo. I would rather have Lugo and McCarthy than Tejada.
  23. There are times when it is wise to mortgage the future and times when it isn't. This isn't one of those times. They have a great young pitcher making the minimum, they have a very solid team that has a great chance of winning 95-100 again and even higher if the pitchers repeat. You need to look into the long-term as well as the short.
  24. Could they for Abreu w/out trading Dye? Build a package around Garland, stick Dye in LF. Use Anderson to trade for a SS. Anderson-NYY Uribe/Wang-TB Lugo-CWS Posednik-CF Lugo-SS Konerko-1B Abreu-RF Thome-DH Dye-LF Iguchi-2B AJ-C Crede-3b (I have no idea how Guillen would set it, though). Get the speed at the top and the bangers in the middle.
  25. Increase the prospects in the deal, Balt. would want Garland and they would probably try and work out an extention if possible. Garland has value and I'd work from the premise of trading either Garland or Contreras and go from there. If Balt. was dead set on McCarthy, then, you don't make the trade.
