  1. I value his ability to get his team into the post-season year after year, more than the Braves inability to win the title. Of course, he does have a WS ring unlike Baker.
  2. Sure he's not moving, they have Delgado. I don't see why a poster has to prove anything. Do you think he has some alterior motive towards discrediting Wright? I think Wright is pretty solid defensively, if a poster doesn't think so and heard rumors that a shift might be in the works, how is he wrong?
  3. http://mets.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article.jsp?ymd=20050720&content_id=1138591&vkey=news_nym&fext=.jsp&c_id=nym Hopefully, this will end the mock cross examination garbage.
  4. As far as Pie, it appears that he has gone from more of a linear hitter to more of a rotational hitter. Am I seeing that correctly? Just various drills used to strengthen a hitter's wrists, hands and forearms. Some will use one arm drills, some of the equipment used are weighted bats, weighted gloves, bungee cord tied to a bat to create tension and increase strength, etc.
  5. Rusch didn't, but the previous LH'ed starter did. Estes had a mid 90s FB that has gone away.
  6. Agreed, David Wright is probably another 10 years away from being considered a 1B. Unless, they get some better in the future which will be after Degaldo departs.
  7. I'm glad to see some of the younger minor league players off to good starts. I was critical of reported rumors that Gallagher was headed to AA instead of Daytona, but obviously pleased when those rumors turned out to be false. It's also good to see Dylan doing well, despite being one of the younger players in the MWL. Even though Reed has a rough time since being drafted, his early start is encouraging as well.
  8. The Mighty Fight'n Quakers aren't fighting too much so far.
  9. I was at a game this afternoon and had a Winter coat on. It was about 60 degrees, but very windy.
  10. Every year, he has leg injuries. This year they were to have someone keeping a closer eye on him during his off-season workout program and nothing changes. He still looks like he needs better conditioning and then this, it's frustrating that at such a demanding everyday position that his conditioning comes into question again. He's still young and w/the Cubs does not have the luxury of leg problems turning him into a 1B.
  11. This will be one of the two showings at Pohlman stadium for the Chiefs. I figured if Peoria was coming early in the year, it would be during the week as the amount of people in the seats is usally low early on and bringing in a Cubs affiliate will boost ticket revenue. This series will run Monday thru Thursday. I haven't been to Beloit yet this year, so I'm looking forward to watching the Chiefs once again.
  12. I'd get rid of Interleague and the DH.
  13. I'd take Hill over Guzman at this point as well, there's just not enough there to be able to evaluate Guzman. He hasn't shown the ability to pitch against higher competition and more importantly, an ability to stay healthy enough to determine whether or not he can handle the workload. At AAA, his workload can be managed more effectively compared to the majors. I'm not the biggest Hill fan, but I'd rather see him out there than Rusch.
  14. Heh, I'd love to see that butcher at Wrigley for 81 games.
  15. The beauty of hitting above .300. When his avg. slumps like last year, the concerns will be back.
  16. Agreed, which is why I was against bringing him back with a 2 year deal.
  17. You'd rather give rusch more innings to do damage? Who said that? (besides you) Rusch has been more productive in the rotation than the pen. I asked, not said. He's doing awesome right now. Love that 9+ ERA in the rotation. Read the rest of my and you'll see my feelings on Rusch in the rotation or try and remember my posts in the past, how I wanted Williams over Rusch last year as well as Hill over Rusch at the end of last year. Trying to look intelligent by showing how poorly Rusch is doing, helps prove my point. Then look at his numbers as a starter compared to a reliever and you'll see what I'm talking about, instead of using stupid smilies.
  18. You'd rather give rusch more innings to do damage? Who said that? (besides you) Rusch has been more productive in the rotation than the pen.
  19. Despite this outing, I feel more comfortable with Rusch in the rotation rather than the pen. Of course, depending on when everyone comes back, I hope Marshall sticks in the rotation longer than Rusch.
  20. Leave the ball up w/no movement, you'll have a short outing, That was a horrible pitch up in the count, use the off-speed.
  21. Dave, it appears that Pie has progressed to more of a line-drive hitter as he has progressed thru the system. For a hitter that you are trying to increase the arc in his swing, how difficult is it to do without losing much of the small window when the bat stays in the hitting zone? Also, what is your take on overload training programs?
  22. Doesn't ARam have groin and leg issues? Yes, but Rolen has had a history of structural injuries in his shoulder and back while Ramirez has had a history of muscular injuries (except for the ankle injury in '02). There's definitely less of a long-term impact with Ramirez at this stage than Rolen as far as injuries impacting their future outputs. Although, it doesnt' appear Ramirez is in any better shape than he has been over the last few years, which is disappointing.
  23. For me, it's not about Dusty making the right moves, it's using the philosophy that will lead to success more times than not. Baker hitting Perez 2nd was still the wrong move as far as what I consider to be a correct philosophy, despite Perez doing well in his one start. Baker has made fewer mistakes in this regard than the last 3 years, as I mentioned in the off-season he has a bullpen that is a cookie-cutter pen and he needs that.
  24. Yep, they went 4-1. The series that killed the Cards wasn't that one, they had the lead after that but was swept by Colorado, IIRC. But, that series against the Cubs deflated them pretty badly.
  25. Welcome to the message board. Parking isn't as bad around as many like to believe. Many of the locals will be at work and the game will conclude before night time parking bans will be enforced. If you park downtown, there are many parking garages. You just have to walk down to State St. to catch the L. If you want to catch BP and have no problem waiting, I'd get there about 11AM. As far as pizza places, I like Lou Malnati's which is off of Wells St. right around the 400 block.
