  1. My ex was actually the bigger football fan. He got hooked back in '84 or '85, when they last won a divisional championship. Strange that I should be here and he is back in the Midwest. Stranger still is to see a professional sports game played practically flawlessly by defense and offense. I'm not used to that!!!
  2. LOL - someone outside just shot off some victory fireworks. Meanwhile, my b/f is at the sewing machine, griping about how people take sports wayyyy to seriously. Yes, we have some gender role issues in this household. :-)
  3. Yeah, he might have more INT's He's 2 for 3 for about 90 yards and a TD on those long passes, so I seriously doubt that. The Hawks couldn't defend against the long pass to save their lives last year. Admittedly I didn't see a lot of that today, but what I did see hints that it still might be a problem. Rothlisburger (sp?) should be taking notes.
  4. Whew! That onside kick almost resulted in a craptacular moment of Cub proportions.
  5. Should have done a few more of those big passes, Delhomme - things might be way different.
  6. I think it's time for Shawn Alexander to call it a day. He's going to be REALLY expensive to keep.
  7. Grace and Walker both never pulled any punches. They told it how it is, and I respect that. I respect Grace's honesty, but not when he is honest about behaving like a Neanderthal. I respect Grace as a player, but he sounds like a real pig. I don't think I want to meet him. I respect Walker as a player too - jury's out on him personally.
  8. We're the Giants 4th quarter specialists this season? That was the impression I had, anyway. Come on Hawks, convert already!
  9. 98 here. ;-)
  10. That play made absolutely no sense. You don't try to establish the run that far back in your own territory, particularly given how utterly futile the Panthers' running game has been. On the other hand, the pass has been about as successful. Perhaps they figured that was the best way to keep from getting an INT/another score by the Hawks? In that way, the run did make sense.
  11. Is that Delhomme's third interception, or fourth? I've lost count. :)
  12. Am I the only one rooting for Seattle in this thread?
  13. Another penalty on the Hawks. You gotta be more careful, guys.
  14. Come on, guys, let's answer with seven right away. The Panthers really should try some more long passes. After that 40 yard gain a few possessions ago, looks like that's the Achilles heel of the Seahawks defense again this year. Trufant looked pretty bad covering that play, which is highly uncharacteristic for him.
  15. THAT WAS SUCH A BOGUS CALL!!! Oh, wait - NON-call. :x I had to turn off the TV and listen to KIRO instead. Gee, Matt, what would happen if you actually called a 1st down play that DIDN'T involve Shawn Alexander???
  16. Yep, that's exactly what I mean. I'm too lazy to post the exact url. Since you're the emoticon master now, is there a :whine: smiley?
  17. Bumping this (1) in hopes of getting the quote & source, and (2) to up my post total. :D
  18. Ah, that's brilliant. How many other iterations of "when did stop beating your wife" do you know? I hope the Cubs do well this season. I'm much better with baseball.
  19. That's because a high percentage is not in the military and isn't close to someone who is. Um, no. But interestingly enough, I made that exact same statement to one of my high school teachers back in Gulf War I - she was for that invasion, and had a stepson hip-deep in it. I don't have the time or the inclination to get into this at length, but Ms. Sheehan aside, far more of those who are close to those in the military "get" the war than those who don't.
  20. I haven't done much autograph hunting - don't like the huge crowds post-game, I still can't get my b/f to understand why it's important to go to BP, and the players always defer to the kids when signing autographs, so I rarely luck out. The best opportunity I've had thus far was when we went to ST last year. Kerry Wood was my first autograph - I have him on an ST program along with the troika (many may call them Three Stooges now) of Jim Hendry, Andy MacPhail, and Bud Selig. I guess Kerry is my only autograph, really... Oh, my ex did get me a Mark Grace rookie card for me off eBay. It's in its own plastic holder. Sports was one of the few things we agreed on! :D
  21. I have a special request. If no one terribly minds me butting in, I would like to host one of the ChiSox games that start around May 20, since that date is my birthday, and my game board spots got snagged last year before I could put them up. :) Of course, if the Cubs are in the middle of an insane 8+ game streak going into the series, I will respect the streak.
  22. I don't remember the quote verbatim, but it was that a Sox fan is like that jerky white trash guy who won the lottery - he's still a jerky white trash guy, only now he's also rich. I liked that quote too. :-)
  23. I know the Cubs faced Oakland, and I think Anaheim, but they sure didn't show up here. :-(
  24. I chanced upon the 2006 schedule, thinking that finally the Cubs would come out to Seattle again. But I don't see them. :-( They haven't been out here since '02 - what gives?
