I get the rule. You don't want coaches to throw a flag when they want the booth to review in order to delay the game. That's fine, but you shouldn't be penalized when they are going to automatically review a score or a turnover anyways. In that case, it doesn't delay anything. Right but the coach doesn't know that. I mean especially when he doesn't know the rule. But I see what you are saying. If its a turnover then the coach should know it will be reviewed and has no reason to "delay" the game by throwing the flag. Yes, the coaches should be smarter. But it doesn't mean the rule isn't dumb. There is simply no rule to gain a competitive advantage by throwing a challenge flag in that situation. Therefore, there is no reason it should be penalized. You might as well penalize the coach for chewing gum on the sidelines.
