  1. You guys act like Dwight Howard wanted to come to Chicago and that cheapass Reinsdorf didn't want to pay the luxury tax. And Boston or Dallas? Both past champions paying aging players for past performance. I highly doubt either team is winning any more rings in the near future. Boston was almost smart enough to tear down and rebuild last year. Give me a smart and realistic scenario for the Bulls to pay money and get a ring. The only way to build salary once you are over the cap is to escalate salaries for existing players, trade for lower salary guys and reaign them, or sign MLEs. Wait until 2 years with Rose fully back. If they don't amnesty Boozer and don't go after big FAs or acquisitions after Deng comes off the book. It's simply not smart to blow cash and flexibility with Rose out.
  2. Theo alt? No, he's pretty much right. Profit clearly comes before winning. I didnt want to believe it but this offseason made it really care. I mean I get that the luxury tax penalties are getting stiffer next year, and the repeat offender penalties are even worse. But come on, the Bulls are the most profitable team in the game by a decent margin and you are one of 7 teams who has never paid the luxury tax. The other 6 teams: Charlotte Golden State LA Clippers New Orleans Oklahoma City Washington Not exactly a bunch of large revenue teams....how about the 5 teams that have spent the most in luxury tax penalties: Boston ($46 mil) Dallas ($150 mil) LA Lakers ($84 mil) New York ($195 mil) Portland ($89 mil) Other than Portland, who somehow spent $51 mil in luxury tax in 02-03 and another $29 mil the next year and only $8 million more over the next 8 seasons, you are talking about the highest revenue teams in the game and teams that compete just about every year. Not saying we need to spend as much money as them, just that they be willing to go over by a couple million when necessary. I think those stats are somewhat rigged. You can't build a championship team by spending your way into the luxury tax. You build the pieces championship team first, and then spend the tax. Case in point. Miami will be into big into the tax. The Bulls have contended they will not spend big money on a team that is not championship caliber. OK. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt for now. They went after the big 3 a couple seasons ago. All indications are that they went after Dwight Howard. I'm fine with them not blowing their wad on contracts for guys like Eric Gordon, when guys like that aren't going to bring them a championship, especially with Rose in limbo right now. I don't understand what some of you guys want them to do. There's a salary cap in place. It's not like you can play Steinbrenner and buy championship talent in basketball. Someone name a deal that could've been done to bring a championship to Chicago that wasn't done because of money concerns. I'll start to agree when Rose is fully back, they have cap room, and don't maneuver. It's just not the right time.
  3. You get that he s going to be less efficient now, right? And his usage is going to go up as well. You do realize he was one of the most efficient guards in the league last year? So by less efficient, it will likely be from "uber efficient" to "really, really efficient"? Just admit your scouting report on James Harden is wrong. Nice. We get to see how accurate sabermetrics is in a team sport. I predict Harden is a big disappointment for Houston. There's a huge difference between being a complementary guy on a great team and being the number 1 option. Let's go back to these posts at the end of the year.
  4. Why is it that so many Cub fans don't like the guy again? I'm ignorant about the falling out he had with Chicago. He was always one of my favorite players when he was a Cub.
  5. Who's got confidence in the bears 2 minute offense?!
  6. Really, OKC? You couldn't pony up an extra $1M per year? I know this would have affected the salary cap and them paying a luxury tax so it would be more than just $1M, but still. Harden is overrated. He plays with two guys way better than him that make him look good. No way he's worth a max deal, or 4.5 million less for that matter. OKC is making a very smart decision.
  7. I didn't think the play looked dirty. Cutler was in an awkward position and trying to make a play rather than protecting himself. Suh also looked legitimately concerned after the play when Cutler was down.
  8. Yes. Cutler was interviewed after the game. He said he landed right on the ball, which is what the replay clearly showed. He was in good spirits, so it was encouraging. He admitted it affected his ability to follow through and affected the playcalling. That part was worrisome. But he didn't seem to concerned about it. So that was encouraging. Am I the only one who saw that interview on Sportscenter?
  9. Cutler just admitted on ESPN that the ribs were bothering him after the hit, and affecting the playcalling.
  10. Dogs are killing it in the NFL this year.
  11. Stafford is exhausted. Yeah, judging from his commercials, he could stand to lose a few pounds.
  12. No I need a Briggs pick 6 for a miraculous comeback win.
  13. Ha! F the Cards! F the Lions! What a nice night!
  14. The best receiver on the planet with like 2 fantasy points today. That's why I never take a receiver early in fantasy football.
  15. The best defense in the NFL thus far. Never would have thunk it at the beginning of the year. With the age, Urlacher's injury.
  16. It's like they're playing the Eagles.
  17. Between the baseball and the Bears, so far, this night is looking nice.
  18. Please be healthy Cutler. PLEASE. :beg:
  19. Yes. I think you're crazy.
  20. Andy Reid and the Eagles fire their defensive coordinator. Their defense isn't even that bad, right? The offense is horrible. The offensive gameplan where they want Vick to throw the ball on 70% of plays from the pocket is a joke. So the DC becomes scapegoat. They site lack of sacks.
  21. I started Greene but only because I had a bunch of injured guys. I was hoping for 5 points. I also have Rodgers so this week worked out pretty well. Back to .500.
  22. Lance can claim he was better because of technique. The way he spun the wheels on his bike.
  23. It's sad that sports of that era, especially a sport like cycling that's so dependent on pure physical fitness, were so riddled with drugs. But does anyone really doubt that Lance Armstrong used performance enhancing drugs? No sense in him fighting it at this point. There's no reason for him to perjure himself over and over again and just make it worse. We know what can happen then. Just walk away.
  24. Arian Foster is a good player, but I think even Shonn Greene could get 5 yards/carry if he had Arian Foster's blocking. OK. Maybe anyone but Shonn Greene. Because that guy sucks.
