  1. The whole replay thing in the NFL just gives the head coach another potentially game deciding decision to make. Giving Lovie Smith another important decision to make is just bad news. Spread the blame around this game to Cutler, the coordinators, the lines. But the challenges were 100% Lovie Smith. And clearly, giving Lovie Smith an important decision to make is very bad for the Bears. How simple is it to develop a protocol for challenging plays. Have a reliable guy look at replay upstairs. Decide how important the play is and how likely the challenge is to succeed. Simple. Any idiot can do it just by watching the telecast. And Lovie Smith hasn't figured it out. Moron. If he can't get anything else about the team right, then at least get this one right. It is not that complicated, and it probably cost them the game yesterday.
  2. Just got back from a bar where i watched the game, so don't know any of the fallout and haven't gotten a chance to fully read this thread. All I know is that the Bears sucked today, but Lovie Smith cost them the game. That was absolutely a touchdown by Cutler and should have been challenged. And the challenge one play before was beyond moronic. How stupid can a head coach possibly be. Challenge a play that was clearly a correct call when you have 1st and goal on the 0.5 yard line. Furthermore, the Bears were on offense and could've slowed down the play a few seconds to get a good look at the replay. And then, the very next play where a TD was turned into a turnover- no challenge. What an absolute moron. They should fire him today.
  3. Agreed about Favre. I'm not old enough to have seen all these guys play, but kudos to the NFL network to have ranked Peyton Manning higher than Tom Brady and Barry Sanders higher than Emmit Smith. So Superbowl wins don't necessarily mean everything in these rankings.
  4. I've always been a believer of Deng. Sure, he was a let down in '08-'09 (when he was unhealthy), but look at his numbers last year. He averaged 17 and 7 while shooting 38% from behind the arc. Thibodeau seems to be trying to make him more well rounded with a post up and Deng is showing he can finally finish through a foul and even draw a foul. I think Deng is going to have a very good year. And he's only 25! Sure, he's not Carmello. But he's only a tier down from him offensively and provides very good defense at a position that is going to need it in the East with Pierce, Carter, and LeBron to contend with. He shot 38% on very limited volume. Looks like Thibs is getting him to look for the 3 ball more and it's working out so far. If he could double his volume and maintain a decent percentage that'd be huge for the offense. So far the new offensive system looks like it's doing wonders for him. Limited volume, yes. I agree with Thibs that if he shoots 38%, he should be encouraged to shoot more until his percentage drops. I always wondered why he so often passed up open 3's last year and shuffled a few feet inside the line and shot a long 2. Didn't get it at all considering he shot a decent percentage from 3. I'm glad to see Thibs encouraging him to take it.
  5. Nice to see Lu tearing it up in preseason. Not that it means that much, but he's looking really good. And he's hitting the 3 pointer. Not bad for a player that was universally viewed as a mistake signing.
  6. Somebody's getting fined, I'd guess. Doesn't mean they're wrong, though. They are wrong. It's a pretty easy rule to follow. The launching and the initial contact being made with the helmet and/or to the opponents helmet are really easy to not do. http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-videos/09000d5d81b80962/Player-safety The video also shows a hit by Ray Lewis where he was in the exact same situation as Harrison on Massaquoi, and similar to Robinson on Jackson. Lewis hit the receiver in the chest, with his shoulder. Lewis still made a highlight reel hit and defensive motivating play. Dustin Keller still did not catch the ball. Keller was still hurt, but was able to play the next week. I think the video is quite clear. Shoulder in chest: OK. Helmet to helmet: not OK. However, what I do wonder is how much control the defender actually has. These guys are moving fast, and changing positions fast. What if someone intends to hit his shoulder into the chest but ends up hitting his helmet into the head? How much control does the defender have when things are moving so fast? I don't have an answer to this question, as I've never played tackle football with 250 pounders who could run 4.5 40's.
  7. Whoever is getting Jennings is getting the better end of the deal, imo. I would take Jennings too, but I do think it's fair to offer. Jennings has questions surrounding him (how much will he get doubled now that GB has no running game and no Finley). Torain will start for at least another couple weeks and possibly longer and Bryant is a wildcard that could get more involved in a very good passing offense. I don't think it's severely lopsided. There's a lot more unknown quantity in Torain and Bryant. Neither has had any sustained success. That was my reasoning. I think thats why Im worried about my league complaining about the fairness of the deal. Torrain/Bryant is a unknown quantity but in this situation where the guy is starting Marion Barber at RB on a weekly basis, I think its a pretty fair offer. Torrain is going to be better than Barber, thats no doubt, but is Torrain/Bryant going to be more productive than Barber/Jennings? Id say yes, but Im not sure everybody will see it like that. It's definitely not that lopsided. People shouldn't complain too much. I wouldn't.
  8. WOODHEAD! See? I grabbed him 2 weeks ago and now he's on everyone's pick up list! I see big things in the future for him.
  9. I give up: Steven Jackson Marques Colston I get: Calvin Johnson Ronnie Brown I definitely say no in its current form, but what do you guys think? I play 2WR, 2RB, plus 1 flex in a 0.5 PPR league. RB has been a strength for me with Jackson, LeSean McCoy and Ahmad Bradshaw. WR has been a weakness with Hakim Nicks as a good #1, but Marques Colston has sucked a$$ this year. Does the deal get better if I ask for Brandon Jackson instead of Ronnie Brown? I'm leaning no just because I can play all 3 RB's at the same time, but I'd love to upgrade WR.
  10. You said it. That's why I'm mixed on this one. It all depends on how the rest of your teams stack up. Torain is a #1 RB in his team and has been playing well. Jennings started to play better, esp with Finley out, but WR's can be inconsistent. RB's are in short supply in my league, and therefore more valuable. For instance, I grabbed Roy Williams as a FA WR last week in my league. The best RB available are Chester Taylor and Darren Sproles. If Torain is firmly on your bench and your WR2 is Dez Bryant, then I'd do it, but its no lock.
  11. Pick 2 for WR position: 0.5 PPR league Hakim Nicks @ Dallas- To me, this is a lock Marques Colston vs Cle- Marques has sucked this year Roy Williams (Dal) vs NYG- 3 TDs in last 2 games Danny Woodhead @ SD- Yes! That's right! Danny Woodhead. He is WR/RB, so I can use him at WR. I picked him up 2 wks ago, and I think he might be ready. Call me crazy, but I'm thinking Nicks and Woodhead
  12. I wouldn't do it. Even after what I said about Rice. Unless you could flip one of your WRs for an elite back.
  13. I picked up Woodhead. Did you know: He ran a 4.33 (or 4.38) 40? He finished college as the all time NCAA leader in total yards? He won the D2 version of the Heisman 2 years in a row? I could also slot him in at WR or RB.
  14. Johnson and Williams.
  15. I'd do this trade in an instant. That's as much of a no brainer as I've seen.
  16. Bedard, right? Sounds like IR is a real possibility. OK Packer fans. Who do you guys like better in the long run? Lee or Quarless? I have heard a lot of good things about Quarless. Lee was the #2 guy, but it looks like he's gone for a few weeks. If you haven't figured it out, I had Jermichael Finley on my Fantasy team (along with Aaron Rodgers). The news was enough for me to drop him.
  17. I'm giving them partial credit for: Hakim Nicks LeSean McCoy Those guys have been studs for me, thanks to the football guys!
  18. I didn't realize they were 12 year old girls. In Randy Moss' defense, Tom Brady's hair was looking Bieberesque. EDIT: Didn't realize it was posted a few pages ago. Still, it's worth a re-post. Yeah, in fairness to Moss, I'd take his beard over Brady's hair any day.
  19. Who is? Based on the last 2 weeks, you could definitely make a case for the Giants. I'd take the Giants over any NFC team next week on a neutral site. But this is the NFL. Things can change real fast.
  20. Oh, and Danny Woodhead is also available. I'm thinking about getting him. I know, slim pickings.
  21. I'm looking to fill out my bench with a RB who might possibly break out. I think the key to getting a good waiver pickup is getting the guy before he breaks out. In my league, you never get a good waiver guy unless you have #1 or 2 waiver position. Our waiver draft is over and both guys I'm considering are FA's. I'm in a 0.5 PPR league starting 2 RB's every week + a WR/RB flex. I've been doing OK with Steven Jackson, LeSean McCoy and Ahmad Bradshaw. Jackson is the only guy who hasn't exceeded my expectations. I'd like to grab either Jerome Harrison or Chester Taylor as a FA this week to fill out my bench. Thoughts? Harrison: Was good last year, was supposed to be the starter, and Hillis comes out of nowhere when he was out with an injury week 3. Might Harrison get another shot? Is Hillis for real? Taylor: A lot of people thought he might take Forte's job as #1 RB prior to the season, and Forte's shown very little in his ability to run the ball. Might Taylor be the guy, and might Martz actually start running the ball a little? One problem with Taylor is I have major week 8 bye issues at RB.
  22. I guess that's something to consider. If Floyd gets Nnamdi Asomugha, he's probably toast. And with no Vincent Jackson, he probably does. Perhaps we see a big game from Antonio Gates this week. The Raiders wouldn't possibly put Asomugha on him, would they?
  23. Yeah, I wouldn't necessarily panic on Rice and dump him, but I'd certainly be worried if I had him. The reason he's been projected as an elite RB isn't his running but his pass catching, especially in PPR leagues. They are way, way down this year. He had 78 receptions for 700 yards last year, he's on target for 44 and 290 this year. He doesn't seem to be running it as well either. The Ravens also face some pretty tough defenses. I probably wouldn't go out of my way to trade him, especially now that his value is so low, but I wouldn't count on him to be a stud like last year.
  24. I say Malcolm Floyd. Royal is coming off a huge game, but that doesn't mean much for a receiver who plays for the Broncos who is going up against the Ravens. You never know, as even the best receivers are inconsistent, but I'd start Floyd.
  25. I think Jennings is probably an upgrade over Driver, but I agree with the others that Jones is too valuable to give up. Your team looks pretty solid. I'm in the same boat as you regarding Colston. He's been pissing me off. To think that I drafted LeSean McCoy, Ahmad Bradshaw, Hakeem Nicks, and Jermichael Finley after I drafted him. At least those guys have been good for me. I'm hoping Colston comes around. The Saints haven't been hitting on all cylinders yet.
