  1. Good to see Aramis back, about half a season too late. Can they string together a few more win? Win a few, lose a few more has been the trend this year. :(
  2. To me, this is the biggest disappointment in not getting Redick. The Bulls are horrible on 3 pointers. Now they have 1 guy who won't play much more that 25 minutes/game in Korver. Deng hits a few and even shot 38% last year, but he passed up on them all the time. Hinrich was the same. Both these guys were getting open looks from 3 last year all the time and either not taking them or missing. Now Brewer isn't going to be any better. Maybe they can get Deng to throw a few more up there. If he's hitting at 38%, he should keep shooting them until he starts hitting at a lower percentage. Redick would've been huge on offense. I'm bummed about it.
  3. If Tiger sticks with this putter, Nike will sell zillions of them. Completely validating their decision to stick with him as the face of their company. Cheater or not, the man can sell golf clubs.
  4. I've played a couple of championship level links courses in America. I don't think I'd play golf at all if that was all that was available. I could play a real links course every single day. And I've never played any course that resembled Bandon Dunes, even courses that are hyped as "links" courses. You can't build a course with that kind of hard ground, they type of grass, that kind of wind, that kind of weather just anywhere.
  5. The British might be my favorite tournament to watch. Tiger playing well- completely expected. I can't believe how many people counted the guy out after he played like crap in the first 2 majors and got top 5 both times. His favorite course in the world. Great to see JD in the hunt. We'll see how long that lasts. Phil Mickelson- let's face it. The guy simply does not have the game for links golf. Unreal that he was one of the betting favorites. He has 1 top 10. Should get really interesting tomorrow when the weather is supposed to be horrible. I've never played in Scotland, but having played at Bandon Dunes this past year, I think I have a completely new impression of links golf.
  6. DRose says he has a three pointer in his arsenal now. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/basketball/bulls/ct-spt-0715-bulls-chicago--20100714,0,5243853.story Let's see. If he could shoot a 3, he just might be unstoppable.
  7. Actually, I'm pretty sure James has shown that the last thing he wants is a challenge. Seriously. What else can you expect from a guy whose favorite teams growing up were the Yankees, Bulls, and Cowboys.
  8.   I hope I'm not laughing like that next season.
  9. There is just too much talent from the top 3 to really let things like interior defense stop them. Plus, IIRC Haslem is a decent interior defender. And I'm sure whatever center they pull off the scrap heap will be defensive minded. As far as being able to play together without detracting, they both, especially James have the ability to be great distributors when needed. I don't think they would have accepted less money to play together and then fight about who is doing the scoring and who is doing the distributing. Not saying role players aren't important because they are in most situations, but bottom line is that superstars are the difference, especially in the playoffs. I think you'll see the Heat have a mediocre regular season record (by mediocre I mean 50-55 wins) as they figure out how to play with each other as well as conserve themselves for the playoffs. Then they will pick up steam come playoff time and run over the East. I think the Lakers have too many weapons to lose to Miami though. At least this year. In 2-3 years when the Heat have 2-3 MLE's used up there will be no stopping them. Maybe this is not the greatest example, but the last time I can think that the same team had two talented wing type guys were the Raptors. 2000 Toronto Raptors had Vince Carter and TMac. Granted they are not the same tandem as DWade and LeBron, and they were also at different stages of their careers, as both Carter and TMac were early in their careers. But the tandems had similar type games. That Toronto team got swept in the playoffs in the first round by a defensive minded Knicks team whose leading scorer was Allan Houston. Sure they didn't have Bosh, and the tandem was not as strong. But they weren't even close to a championship. TMac the very next year became a total stud with Orlando after just being a decent player in Toronto. Maybe he improved, but maybe he was held down by playing with a similar type of player. Vince Carter had his best season ever the year after TMac left. Does a team really need two guys who can dribble around 3 people and take 20+ shots a game?
  10. I think the Heat will be damn good and probably win championships, but the more I think about it, the more I think they can really underachieve. They haven't proven that they can play effectively together without detracting from each other. They haven't proven they can play defense. They haven't proven they can't be dominated inside.
  11. Magic have signed Quentin Richardson leading some to speculate they do not intend to match on JJ Redick. Also, Adrian Wojnarowski reporting Bulls and Celtics are interested in Josh Howard. Damn the Heat. Will suck if they are a rebirth of the Bad Boy Pistons to the Bulls.
  12. Funny. Tribune picked up a story about Luol Deng selling his Northbrook house. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2010/07/bulls-deng-puts-his-northbrook-home-on-market.html OK, I gotta stop paying attention to the Bulls now. LeBronathon is over. I'll take a break for a while.
  13. nothing is going to happen about this it's not impossible, contracts have been nullified before and teams punished. if it's believed that player collusion happened, they can penalize miami and force the players to go elsewhere. which would be awesome. right, but finding proof is nearly impossible besides hearsay, so it won't happen Is there even a rule that would prevent collusion on the part of the players? Everyone knew these guys were talking the whole time. What can the NBA do about it now? The only thing the owners can possibly discuss is how to prevent this from happening in the future. I can't see how they can do squat about what has already happened.
  14. Whomever they sign, it will be very interesting. We are about to see how important a "role player" in the NBA really is. There really has been no precedent for this. I'm as curious as anyone.
  15. Heat have targeted Juwan Howard for $1.4 million minimum. They have also invited Derek Fisher to Miami where he was greeted by LeBron himself at the airport. "Hey Derek, you should take 1/3 the salary and play with us. We all make sacrifices."
  16. Cause if there wasn't one, the Knicks would have the big 3 at $25 mil per. The simplest way to keep big 3 from happening is to get rid of the max contract. That way, someone offers LeBron $25-30 million and can't afford the other 2. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense that Rudy Gay and Joe Johnson get essentially the same money as Kobe and LeBron. If someone wants to pay $25-30 million for 1 player, let them. Now we have to put up with the big 3. I hope people are right that the scrubs they fill the roster with don't cut it and they don't win. Now that will really be entertaining.
  17. Also allows Miami to get back Haslem and Wright using Bird rights. They're waiting for Mike Miller and they contacted Jason Williams to play for minimum. It does? That blows. Haslem is a real piece. I hope someone outbids them for Mike Miller. If they get Shaq or Brad to take the minimum they're going to be set. They won't use the bird rights on Haslem or Wright. In order to have the money to sign the big 3 they have to renounce those rights. They may try to sign them to the minimum or with whatever they have left, but those bird rights are gone. So Jason Williams is going to take $500K, little more than half the salary he made last year to play bitch to the big 3. Let's see. I know I'd say NO if 3 guys who are going to be worth a billion dollars between them ask me to take a paycut off my annual 6 figure salary to play with them.
  18. Someone needs to pull a Jerry Springer and get both LeBron and Gilbert on for interviews at the same time without the other knowing about it.
  19. More from Dan Gilbert per ESPN:
  20. That's my boy. I'd agree with him wholeheartedly if it were Wade, Bosh and another All-Star. Unfortunately, the self proclaimed King is a pretty good player.
  21. Let's see who the Heat fill the roster with. I'm so damn intrigued as to how they are next year. If they don't win it all, it will be hilarious. I can't think of many good basketball players who would you give up millions of dollars so to be the bitch of the Big 3 and tag along for rings. I can possibly see Shaq doing it because he's rich already. Not too many others.
  22. Yeah, you gotta love his balls here but to personally guarantee a championship before King James. That's pretty ridiculous. Maybe we can get him to give us some players for free just to keep LeBron from winning the East. Actually, is there anyone on the team we'd really want right now?
  23. I especially liked this one: Go Dan Gilbert
  24. That is hilarious.
  25. Who's playing SG for the Bulls next year? KC Johnson's article mentioned Gilbert Arenas in a blurb. Anyone interested in that?
