  1. Well then I expect you to call out anybody who makes any sort of comment about a team other than the Rams and Bears. Drop it. Now.
  2. No more Saints commentary. Or commentary on Saints commentary. I have no patience for that crap tonight.
  3. belushi was worse than ever when they scored Yes. Yes, he was. Thankfully he's gone.
  4. The tackle hold? Or the one on the outside? Very annoying that those aren't getting called.
  5. For the love of God, give it a rest. I'm getting extremely tired of the negativity. The sky is falling, wah!
  6. I'm nervous in the sense that I want him to shut the local and national media up for at least a week, and am not looking forward to the backpatting that will happen if he craps the bed and Griese comes in. I'm actually more concerned about the defense than Rex. I'm nervous for Rex only because I want him, specifically, to succeed. Generally, in football I don't pull for a specific Bear player to succeed -- but Rex is different. I like him, and I like his make-up. I think if he can get over this hump, we'll have a real by-God Quarterback we can count on.
  7. People have to have something to talk (and write) about. Grossman's been terrible and won't get better. The defense is beat up. This combination has been spun into everything bad happening tonight -- saving perhaps an atomic bomb going off and incinerating the Bears in a blaze of specifically targeted nuclear particles. Hogwash. I'm looking forward to a good offensive night. The Bears will get back to establishing the run, and using the pass to exploit the defensive commitment to the run. While Grossman's been bad, a bigger problem has been the early "home run" play-calling (and passing attempts) rather than a pursuit of the run. Defenses are keying on Grossman, and establishing the run straight away will force them to react to the Bears game plan, rather than the Bears running their offense into the teeth of the opponent's plans. That's poor coaching, and its something that only the glare of attention on Grossman could conceal. Likewise, the big D will return to properly filling their gaps and won't over-pursue (which has been a huge problem in the run game). This will close down the run, and they will look to force Bulger to win the game through the air. Someone needs to remind the boys that a focus on consistently limiting the run to 2-3 yards per rush is better than an all-or-nothing attempt (and occasional success) to take the rusher down for a significant loss.
  8. Well. This is quite possibly the worst signing imaginable. At least since Estes.
  9. Here's the link for those interested. No other choices mentioned. Seems like Klinsmann had Gulati over the barrel in negotiations, and Gulati wasn't willing to give some ground. I hope there are some other magic choice out there, or we're in trouble. It's time to get rid of Gulati.
  10. I would suggest that you read the posting guidelines in my sig. Since you haven't been posting long enough to receive PM's, consider this your first and only warning.
  11. Grossman. A large part of the problem has been the lack of time for Grossman to throw, and in such situations, his inability to find an open receiver. I would probably design some roll-outs, slants, and screens to punish the defense for blitzing and committing to stopping the rush (I'm looking at you Turner). Additionally, Rex needs to check down to his secondary receivers quicker and take what the defense is giving him.
  12. Yeah, it's nice to keep him in the NL. "Single... no, double to center!"
  13. I'm curious as to the details of the contract, but I'd rather have signed Drew and Lee, personally.
  14. Wow. That's dumb. As in, seriously dumb. I'm still pondering the whole Soriano deal, but this is a no-brainer, and I'm glad it's the Dodgers who took him.
  15. What do you think the effect was? Were the rain droplets knocking his throws off course? Was the water getting in his eyes? The ball would have been wet even when it stopped raining and it was pouring during the last drive in the first half. Rex's effectiveness is related to one thing: Pressure. And? Your point? If Rex has enough time to throw, he's shown that he'll be very effective. If he doesn't have that time, it's a lot tougher. In Sunday's game, the change was the Line started making blocks and opening holes. The Giants were well-prepared (no surprise there) for the Bears, and the Bears made excellent adjustments to New York's game plan. I thought Lovie and the staff clearly made a lot of correct calls and got things going. Every RB, every QB, every WR and every offense lives and dies by its O-Line. That's just the way it is. They may not have the glamour, but they are incredibly important. When they fail, and allow penetration into the backfield, it's the QB, or the RB that takes the blame. In this game, Rex had one bad pick, and it was costly. TJ and Moose had bad fumbles that were much more costly. Personally, I thought Rex looked fine. Much ado about nothing here.
  16. Good call. I think the Bears will get revenge on '85, and make the 49er game look like a tough match by comparison.
  17. I'm in favor of it.
  18. He's good. No question about it.
  19. Too bad. The defense is just too tired.
  20. Wow. Bears D not letting them lose.
