  1. Sorry mate. People are free to disagree, and discuss/debate their respective points of view. Swearing and "fixing" a post are apples and oranges. While you might find such a fixed post irritating, there's nothing wrong with it -- as there would be for swearing or using clever symbols to replace various letters. If you find such posts irritating, I suggest that you ignore the people who make such posts.
  2. Now those who haven't watched it know it didn't end in a tie which, considering how the game ended, could spoil it. So though you tried not to give the result away, you sort of did. Ah, but in calling the game an example of how great soccer can be, sethuel1 is seeking to demonstrate to an American audience the merits and excitement of soccer. And, knowing that draws are one of the facets of soccer that Americans do not like, he certainly would not have used this game as a demonstration of soccer's excitement if it had ended in a tie. Therefore, in his original post, sethuel1 was responsible for offering the spoiler that the game ended with a winner and loser. In a kind, generous spirit, I merely offered my sincere condolences to the losing side (who deserved a draw, for sure).
  3. According to ESPN, it looks like the Bears moved up from pick 63 to pick 37 in the second round.
  4. That was a great game. Wow. Just wow. I feel for the losers (so as not to give away the result).
  5. Morgan's a moron. He'd violate any known law, rule, more or standard to get his friend Concepcion (or any other Red) into the Hall.
  6. Fixed Yeah, except with our luck they'd manage to post a .322 OBP at the same time.
  7. Well, there goes 2007.
  8. If you have a record of making deals and coming to agreement, it's much easier to find common ground and make a deal.
  9. Anyone see the Arsenal/Blackburn FA match? Freidel was absolutely unbelievable. Completely saved Blackburn's behind in the last ten minutes.
  10. Should send them the other way around. Copa will have some excellent competition. Playing against good teams like Colombia, Argentina and Paraguay is better than the scrubs in the CONCACAF Godl Cup. World Cup teams like Argentina and Brazil are the teams we should be playing. The US really values winning the Gold Cup though. I understand wanting to win your Zone so you can play in the Confederations Cup. We could win the Gold Cup with our B team, though. CONCACAF sucks. Our best players should play against the best competition. That's the only way we'll improve. I agree 100%. Hell Mexico won the Copa America about 5 years ago if I am not mistaken. Maybe it was 7. That's all right though, Sunil "beating scrubs is hard" Gulati is in charge. What a joke. Seriously, we need a coach who understands -- and can teach -- attacking. And then we need to instill an attacking mentality in our U-20's. I think too many of our coaches here only understand how to run the counter (which is only slightly more difficult than breathing). If we closed down like the Italians, I wouldn't mind playing a counter-attacking, closing-down style. Personally, I don't think we have the defensive personnel to recover when, inevitably, someone is beaten. Secondly, we need to start building up our attacks from the back. And not with Reyna.

  12. Yeah, b/c hometown discounts for an org that drafted and developed you is completely out of line. Bastard Cubs organization. Worthless arrogant SOBs. If a player wants to give a certain team a discount, that's his decision. But there's no rational reason Carlos should give the Cubs any discounts. Baseball is a business, and both Jim and Carlos know this. Carlos wants to receive his market value, or better, and if the Cubs won't give it to him, then he should be free to go elsewhere. That's the whole point of free agency, by the way. By the way, a team that develops a talented player receives that player's services at a deep discount for many years -- there's your hometown discount. In my book, a player should exercise every right they have to make their market value. After all, the teams use every right they have to keep salaries low prior to arby years and during the arby years.
  13. Why do we need a no-hit, back-up CF? Our roster is fine without one. With the versatility of Jones, and his ability to cover CF, we essentially *have* a back-up CF -- he just plays RF. So when Soriano needs a day off, move Jones to CF, and start Floyd in right. Soriano LF/CF/RF Jones RF/CF Murton LF only Floyd -- LF/RF Holding only 4 "true" outfielders on the roster allows the 4th OF more opportunities to play -- and, provided he's a solid bat, that makes for a more effective line-up.
  14. That's disappointing, hopefully he's able to move somewhere else by the end of the month. Rumor has it that AC Milan is interested. I'd imagine learning from Nesta and Maldini would be good apprenticeship for the Gooch. That would work nicely for Gooch -- and the US.
  15. Bwahahaha! Too cruel. :D
  16. Keep padding your post counts, boys. ;)
  17. He looks too much like Jeremy Roenick for comfort.
  18. Sound Bite Airhead is pretty damn clever.
  19. I still agree. I'd like to see a lot of Bradley, too.
  20. I think the Lions will roll over, personally. But let's take no chances. Crush them!!! Also, I think this would be a great time to see a bunch of Benson.
  21. Sure. I'll vote. Again.
  22. Umm... what happened to the 13-3 record from 2001? Did that just disappear into the ether? I saw that too. I guess that year really was a fluke since they stopped using it in record keeping The Y2K bug ate it, apparently.
  23. Good teams don't look as good when they're playing other good teams. Like when the Ravens struggled against a near certain playoff Browns team. That's one example. The Bears struggled yesterday against a near certain playoff Buccaneers team. The AFC also is 38-22 against the NFC this year. I wouldn't call it struggling. It really wasn't a hard fought game. The Bears completely dominated until they went to sleep in the 4th, and TB took advantage. The Bears then re-awakened and snuffed out TB's chances.
  24. I really hate it when people can't get their facts correct. Umm... what happened to the 13-3 record from 2001? Did that just disappear into the ether?
