  1. I like the idea of adding Matsui, Would we spin Zito, others for Tejeada? I can't see us keeping Payton.
  2. I would assume he gets no-trade in this deal. I'm suprized Garland didn't want a four year deal.
  3. I will agree that this board tends to overate the cubs minor league players Kelton, Cruz, Choi, Hill, JVB, Patterson, Dubois ect. Granted Willis, Sisco, Zambrano ect everyone seemed to be pretty much right on target with. Ohman who was also highly rated by many before injuries looks to making strides toward being a great arm out of the pen after last seasons sucess.
  4. It looks like he won't agree to play the outfield for Nats, could we get him and spin him to the Orioles or Boston to get us either Miggy or Manny? The nationials have had interest Corey in the past and we could possibly take Livan back to help with some salary relief giving them a lot of flexability next offseason when they hopefully have an owner.
  5. If we where talking after the world series I would agree but now that Hendry has seen all his chances to make a splash wash up he might be interested. Millwood Manny Miggy Weaver Are the only hopes I have right now of Hendry being able to make this years squad any better to compete with the Cards.
  6. Dewon Brazelton, RHP would be a nice pickup with a high upside to sign since we moved a lot of are young pitching talent this offseason.
  7. Bostondirtdogs has Andy Marte going to the tribe along with Mota for Crisp? Seems to me like Boston would be overpaying a lot there for Crisp
  8. Nomar should have been offered a 1 one year deal for 3 million with no gurantee to start and I am willing to think he would have taken it. For half a million more I would take him over Nefi. If you look around baseball the money might be a little bit more but most teams aren't offering him a starting job.
  9. Clemens is worth the gamble for a team a contender, but it wouldn't be for a team like the Blue Jays who trying to build for a run.
  10. I think you grossly undervalue Tejada. And completely ignore the situation the Cubs face. They are getting a crap RF regardless. It's either Jones/Encarnacion/Wilson + Tejada, or one of those guys without Tejada. If they can get Abreu, great. But I don't see them getting anybody of value for RF. And I don't see them getting any better player via trade with these guys in the future. How can you say they are getting a crap RF for sure on December 13? How much would you give up for Cliff Floyd? He's likely going to outproduce Tejada with similar defense at a much cheaper cost(years, dollars, and players) at a position without a cheap alternative. On the other hand, he's 3.5 years older and plays a less scarce position. If we're giving up this much just so that we avoid the worst case scenario for this year, why not give up less to get more production for '06? If I was to make a bet I would say where likely to to get a crap right fielder since Bradley has been dealt, Cincy doesn't seem to be looking to move any of it's outfielders, Abreau isn't likely to be dealt at this point, Huff will cost a fortune because of Tampa's Gm. Who's left? The right fielders that are still out there we can get plus Miggy. Pierre Walker (dreaming he stays) Lee Miggy Ramirez Wilson Murton Barett I could live with Preston Wilson hitting sixth . He'll mash 30 home runs strike out a ton, play an above right field, Strong arm, steal 15 bases. The only thing that lineup lacks is balance. add Washburn or Weaver to his team and we could make a serious run at the cards next year.
  11. I can't see us shipping them five players and one of them not being Wuertz/Nova with the vaule relivers are given in todays game. Wuertz/Nova Williams Patterson Hill Maybe we work out a deal to get Julio for the pen for them more salary relief and gets them some younger relivers. If the Cubs can get Miggy and a decent bat for Field, along with Washburn or Weaver I would be pretty happy with the Cubs offseason.
  12. I am thinking for some reason that Bradley is still gonna be a Cub with us doing a deal with Oakland.I think Hendry had made him a target and couldn't get a deal done with the Dodgers now he can trade with Beane instead. Remember Barrett?
  13. Wow thats a lot of money for a guy with his skills I blame Hendry its all because he gave 3 million to Howry and 3 million to Eyre he set the market.
  14. I agree I for one am hoping the cubs can find a way to get bradley and keep Todd Walker while also getting a Cliff Floyd type bat for Left with Murton being the fourth outfielder. Pierre Bradley Lee Floyd ARam Walker Cedeno Barrett
  15. Bradley is better than Patterson with the glove. I don't think getting Bradley handcuffs the Cubs into not getting a deal done with Millwood.
  16. I really hope the Cubs can add another starter to the rotation. When you figure your going to be dropping Pattersons salary in a trade and maybe Walkers they should have the funds to do it. I think a guy like Washburn or Weaver would allow the Cubs to start Cedeno at short, Walker at second, get Bradley and maybe another outfielder.
  17. Grow up. That's a serious accusation of someone in the media. People lose careers over made-up stories. Not true when your in Sports Radio it happens. I'm not going to tell anyone to grow up but after time you will see most of the time Sports Radio reporters are not always anywhere neer accurate or honest.
  18. I would have loved Furcal but I don't fault the Cubs for not paying him 13 million dollars. This guy gets more than Konkero this offseason? Miggy gets in the 10 million dollar range. Any more than 10 for Furcal is insane.
  19. I really like the Idea of Franco off the bench, he can still hit and can play a decent first base. Mabry-1b, 3b, 2 outfield spots Perez - short, second, third Blanco - C Hairston-outfield ,second base, short, really no idea who the other outfielder will be or how many pitchers will carry but Franco and Mabry as the first bats off the bench would look nice.
  20. I think Williams is trade bait. I think Rusch is a vaulable guy to have because he has a rubber arm and can pitch as a lefty out of the pen and the rotation. I think Hendry is afraid to count on his starting staffs health and Madduxs being effetive. Getting a guy like Livan Hernadez, Jared Washburn, Millwood, Weaver, Rogers to bolster the staff seems like a good idea considering the Cubs have the extra room in the budget seenig Furcal, Giles all went off the board.
  21. Guys it's been known for a quite awhile that with Woods Surgery there are no sure things thats why Hendry has Six starters right now ,seven if he keeps Williams. They don't want to be caught short if Wood can't go that first week of april. Really nothing new being reported
  22. If its Milton Bradley for CPatt . I think Jim will do it . Say the Cubs get Milton Bradley for Cpatt Pierre - Pinto, Wellmeyer, Mitre, Would they then be interested in Soranio? Walker, Williams, Nova?
