  1. http://www.goatriders.org/ has this rumor posted from espn 1000 on there site tonight and is being catious because no print source has said anything yet.
  2. What's this about?? It means watch your language. People have been using clever contractions and characters to represent words that are clearly stated in the NSBB Guidelines as inappropriate. Warnings, suspensions and bannings will follow if the behavior doesn't stop. And now I'm curious as to what it was that I said that led you to direct this at me. Well if there clever contractions and characters whats the the problem with that? If you can figure them out you must be old enough hear those words. This is Cubs baseball folks I don't care how educated or holy you might pride yourself on being sometimes emoticons aren't enough to express the highs and lows that come with rooting for this club for many years. I don't know maybe I clicked the wrong and I ended up on the Disney board again.
  3. So? He sucks. He's not Maddux's personal catcher. The pitching coach is much more important in the development of a pitcher than a journeyman catcher is. It doesn't make much sense to waste the millions the Cubs waste on scrub players when they can find much cheaper versions of the same thing, and use the savings on better impact players. Damian Miller is a journeyman catcher but he seems to do a nice job whereever he goes working with pitching staffs. I also think your wrong on a pitching coach being more important than a catcher. If a catcher is calling the game behind the plate and getting a first hand look at a young pitchers stuff having the right catcher behind the plate can go a long way. When your budget is 100 million dollars 1.5 for a backup catcher is a drop in the bucket. Having impact players like Wood and Prior on the DL is what hurts this team along with giving millions to a platoon player like Jones.
  4. haha Juan Cruz still sucks.
  5. I think the O's will realize there not one pitcher away thats why you can create a package of Guzman,Hill, Ryu and Harvey or Dope if he's healthy.
  6. what future moves would he hamper? the cubs desperately need another slugger, and are going to have to pay big bucks for one. beggars can't be choosers.... The team is 7 games below .500. Tejada is unlikely to be the difference between that and winning the division. Given that, what is the benefit of trading away talent to get him? Especially when some of that talent is at the same position? Just getting another slugger isn't going to save this team, and the buy-a-solution method hasn't been proving to work. If this season is going to be a wash, then it seems better to let the young players we've invested in gets ome experience and determine the future of this franchise. And I can't imagine how you could figure that adding 14 million annually wouldn't affect the team's bottom line--very possibly more Tejada's production affects the team's chances. My bad on the spelling Tejeda himself might not be worth seven wins but he should be able to keep us in the hunt for a while longer. I think Tejeda alone would be worth a boost to this team to get us above water until a month from now when Lee returns, along with Wood,Miller, and Prior all either close to returning or getting settle into the rotation. Could anyone have thought that Pierre and Ramirez would combine to be this bad? How about Zambrano with only one win and were in Mid May? As bad as it has been were only 8.5 out and where only 37 games into the season. Tejeda is only 29 years old and wouldn't be a rental. The man is an ironman and one of the most feared hitters in the game. If he could be had in a trade for say Guzman,Hill,Williams, and Harvey would you pull the trigger? Imagine this core Pie Murton Tejeda Lee Cedeno Barrett Zambrano Prior Marshall Marmol Wood Dempster Eyre Howry
  7. The whole Prior fascio is a [deleted] joke. Funny Hendry mentions Flordia in 2003 who didn't take off till after there was a change in managers.
  8. I don't think the Phillies are going to be trading Abreu this season unless they get some guys that can step and perform now. The Cubs don't seem to be a fit for the Phillies. Miggy might be one of the only true difference makers on the offensive side of the game that will be on the block this season. Could the Cubs build a package around some of there young pitchers to get Miggy? Move Cedeno to second base. Let Walker man first until Lee gets back. Walker off the bench with the ability to play first, second, third and left field would be awfully nice. Wow who would have thought a guy that can play multiple postions and hit what a novel idea! Pierre Cedeno Lee Miggy Ramirez Jones Murton Barrett
  9. If there not gonna call up a first baseman so we can start Walker at second , we lose nothing in giving this guy a shot.
  10. I've never noticed this it will be something to watch.
  11. that article has been on there front page for a few days and a few nights ago it wasn't an insider article.
  12. Lou Piniella he's the man for the job and this town will eat him up.
  13. Baker looks beaten I think him getting fired is now the only way to save this team.
  14. any chance Marmols gonna be get look in Sept if the Cubs are out of it.
  15. Guzman control will come back he needs more innings under his belt post all his injurys.
  16. After the way Ohman pitched last year and the stuff he has there's no way I can see the him being DFA.
  17. I would normal say your right about Hendry not throwing the towel so soon but the Cubs need to shake up this team and trading Jones would be a shakeup. I forsee the yankess getting Jose Guillen from the Nats.
  18. Most of us that are complaining about Wood throwing in the bullpen last year, support this team year in and year out, and for some of us (most of us?), Wood throwing in the bullpen in meaningless games was a punch in the face. The great thing about Baseball is anything can happen and a lot of the times does the Cubs weren't flat lining last year when Wood was in the bullpen they were still kicking on Life Support. Remember Wood more than likely would have only miss a start of two in April had he not a host of unforseen issues not related to his surgery. I'll trade two Wood starts in April for a lights out Wood out of the pen when we where still in the race anyday.
  19. I am sure Hendry has contacted the Marlins along with a host other teams only to told he's not on the block ... yet. I think he will moved in the offseason. Lucky for us Hendry and Flordia have been good trading partner the last few years.
  20. Zuleta, Hundley were pretty bad in left field but Canseco might have been the worst.
  21. I fully stand by the choice to have Wood pitch in relief last year. Aftert almost a hundred years of sucking they had to get something out of Wood last year for the money he was paid. Throwing in the towel when Wood could help you out bullpen would have been a punch in the face for those of that support this team year and out. Wood hurt his Knee, his side, and Oscar Acosta's death have all played roles in him not being here to start the season not just the waiting an extra two weeks last season for surgery. Prior wasn't pitching in relief last year had no surgies and is still way behind.
  22. I would like to keep Will Ohman he should flashes of last year that he can be a lights out option from the left side.
  23. Man I am getting really tired of Prior taking so long a shore shoulder should not put him behind whats looking like three months into the season at least.
