  1. I've been livid about this all morning. I understand that it's for Phillies fans, but some of us Cub fans also live in EST and are old and like to sleep, damnit.
  2. My biggest hope with Mathis is that a lot of the mediocre results in Myrtle Beach were due more to his health than his ability. The batted ball data in college was so damn good that him not cruising through Myrtle felt weird. Then he missed most of the year. Him crushing in the AFL would make me feel better about that data being more noise and injury related.
  3. Absolutely not. They cannot win this series without him. I think he goes tomorrow. Maybe you gambit and roll an opener but I think it's Boyd in G4. You need 4 innings from him.
  4. We're about to go live! Let's celebrate a W. That one was intense as hell. Playoff baseball is simultaneously not fun and anxiety ridden and very, very, very fun.
  5. Brad Keller on to preserve the season in the NLDS, the exact way we drew it up in March.
  6. An umpires job is to call the pitch not the catch. He could have framed it better. But the first thing is for an umpire to do his job properly.
  7. Not a terrible choice to not throw a strike to Contreras there and to get Frelick. One to go now.
  8. Chourio is banged up. He isn't running well. It may not come into play here but keep an eye on it.
  9. Chourio destroys LHP and is below average against RHP.
  10. Do you need a hug or something? Or to play a game of catch?
  11. Do the announcers know that Chad Patrick is 27? Like, he isn't old, but the are talking about how young he is like he was 23. What are we doing here?
  12. Positive: Tucker clearly feels good enough to think about taking a bag! Negative: TOOTBLAN
  13. Good news about getting bombed the last two games is that the Cubs' best relievers are well rested. They should have no issue being used tonight and tomorrow if they can hold on. Frankly, if they don't hold on, that's another set of issues anyways, so I'm not sure that even really matters.
  14. If they weren't up, they probably are. The pen is almost always working in the playoffs. My guess would be Palencia as this is around where CC has used him.
  15. I'd guess he's their Civale and Brown; they want him to eat three or four. Should be a good spot for the RHH's. He's rocking a 5.15 xFIP, and a 14 K% against RHH. He's horrible against them.
  16. I think they hope Q can eat 3+ here with the wind blowing in. But he's so bad against RHH.
  17. Don't disagree it'd feel good. Especially with the RHH coming up; Q is horrible against RHH. Just saying, I think four might be enough tonight as is. But might as well get more, too. Why not?
  18. It would really be nice to score more. But the Brewers will be in a tough spot themselves. Down-3, Cubs have a full and fresh pen, wind blowing in, and their lineup isn't particularly strong tonight with guys like Lockbridge in. They aren't free from worry by any stretch, but this isn't set up as a juggernaut lineup. Decent chance 4 will be enough. But absolutely don't stop either.
  19. I like that you think my inability to count is because the week is weird. And appreciate it.
  20. Yeah but like did you consider counting to five is really hard?
  21. Man, I can't count. I just told my students how I failed Algebra 2 three times today.
