  1. What I hate is that the Cardinals' top recent acquisition wants to stay in St Louis for the long haul, while the Cubs' top recent acquisition is doing everything in his power to get traded before the first year of his contract is done. Is there that much of a difference between the two cities and fan bases?
  2. I use some variation of Fromunda Cheese____. Like Fromunda CheeseHeads, or CheesePizza, or CheeseCurds.
  3. Introducing the Cubs next hitting coach.
  4. It depends on whether we win or they lose.
  5. SALE
  6. Not to mention the roving vendors. I swear the cotton candy vendors set up shop on front of me at every opportunity. Taking the train from Midway to Wrigley is quite a trip. I did that once and the trip back to Midway took over two hours. To be fair though, it was for a weekday game. If getting to the game just 90 minutes before first pitch is okay, I would park at the remote lot at Devry and bus to the game. I have done that numerous times and it is the best option, IMO. You would still have time to get a bite to eat and have a few beers before the game starts. If your plans include staying and going to the bars afterward, it may not work.
  7. I would say boycot ESPN or MLB.
  8. And now we have Milton BraDLey.
  9. I'd be up for it.
  10. How will he look in a train conductor's hat?
  11. I was just going to post this. Interesting... The party is over for sure. It will take months, if not years to clear himself even if there isn't anything to this. Any resolution will come after the sale. This sucks.
  12. Since it got into the 70s today, I wore my Edmonds half-shirt while doing yard work.
  13. I will root for Prior unless he goes to a rival of the Cubs. If so, I hope his arm falls off.
  14. Its not quite as compelling as a Cubs vs Rays World Series, but it will have to do. I would like to see the Rays win, but it is a bit depressing to see that franchise make the World Series before the Cubs.
  15. I picked Dunn as well. He seems to be the type of player the Cubs would drool over (left-handed, massive power, high OBP) and would have some value as a replacement for Lee at 1B if/when they should decide to move him.
  16. Uh, it's more like 80% Cubs fans. Conservatively. Iowa City is just about the most Cubs friendly place in the world outside of Wrigleyville. I would agree with 80% in Iowa City, but there has been a very vocal minority the last week. There are six or eight Cubs fans where I work (some bandwagon, some good) and a smattering of others. The most annoying is a Diamondbacks fan who roots for Arizona and anyone playing the Cubs. Even the Cardinal fan at work isn't as annoying.
  17. Cubs over Dodgers in 4 Brewers over Phillies in 5 Red Sox over Angels in 5 Rays over White Sox in 4 Cubs over Brewers in 6 Red Sox over Rays in 6 Cubs over Red Sox in 7
  18. I have been on cruise control for the past two weeks and am ready to feel that nervous feeling in the pit of my stomach again.
  19. I wanted to play the Mets in the first round, but I guess it doesn't really matter in the end. I will say that I probably would have been rooting for the Brewers if the Cubs weren't in it. I prefer to see the underdog take out the bully if all things are equal.
  20. Guess that means he will be out on Sunday as well.
  21. I don't find it amusing. I DO NOT want brewers in over mets. Philly Mets Brewers LA CC's workload Sheets Elbow Bullpen Defense In a 7 games series that team doesn't scare me at all. Santana/Pedro is a pretty tough combo in a short series in OCT. If Santana is available for just one game in a five game series the Mets are in trouble. They are in inferior to the Dodgers, IMO. I would rather face a tired Mets team that has Santana for just one game than a well rested Dodgers team that is on a roll.
  22. Remember, we can't play the Brewers in the first round. If Brewers make it we get the Dodgers. So I want everyone to knock themselves out as long as we get one of the teams knocking themselves out. Right...that's why I want a playoff that the Mets win so we play them instead of the Dodgers. The Dodgers will be well rested and have their rotation set, while the Mets won't (hopefully) have that opportunity.
