  1. And next... the obligatory "The Shark is broken" thread....
  2. Would telepathy be considered "Other"? If that fails and I cannot watch the game or listen on the radio, I check online sources like nsbb, espn, mlb or yahoo.
  3. The winner of last year's 7th inning stretch contest passed away yesterday. http://www.gazetteonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080717/NEWS/842227193/1001/NEWS
  4. His numbers were dramatically down his last season in ATL too. I don't know what happened to him. After a good '05 and '06, Andruw had lost nearly 40 points off his OPS+ in '07 with the Braves. It's a massive drop. I can take a guess what happened. He gained a pound for every point he lost from his OPS+.
  5. The bullpen is the biggest worry with Marmols collapse and Wood's blister problem.
  6. I don't think the league has figured him out. Yesterday was a combination of luck (bloop hits) and bad baseball (by Marmol and Theriot). IMO, Marmol is just tired. He's a little worn down. The ASB will do him well. I hope you are right. Marmol has been one of my favorites on a team of great guys. I hope it is a tired arm, but I am a life-long Cub fan so pessimism reigns...even in the best of times.
  7. Hill up...Marmol down? j/k
  8. we can't? the cubs have a 5 game lead and are something like a 95% chance to make the playoffs. Make that a 5.5 game lead (largest all year, I believe). Not to mention the largest divisional lead in baseball. I bet more than a few Brewer fans were saying the exact same things last year. I am not agreeing with the notion to send Marmol down, but the Cubs are in no position to take anything for granted at this point in the season. Including the meltdown in Tampa, Marmol has pitched 10 1/3 innings in 12 appearances. In that time he has given up 20 runs, 18 ER on 16 hits, 11 BB and at least 3 HBP...and has only struck out 7 batters. He has given up runs in six of those 12 outings, and more than one run three times. This isn't a one time thing. The bottom line is that whether the league has figured him out, or there is an injury, I don't think we can count on seeing the Marmol of the last year-and-two-months anytime soon. A lot of people complained about him coming into games with four and five run leads, and now that may be the only time we see him because he cannot be trusted in the higher leverage situations anymore.
  9. Votto with a HR for my fantasy team. I hate him today.
  10. He's too busy in the locker room cleaning uniforms and handing out towels.
  11. 106 pitches for Cueto. Dusty says he has another 40 left in the tank.
  12. I hate that guy. He has absolutely killed my fantasy Nascar team at work.
  13. Plus he had to read the words from a script. Hilarious.
  14. I am between the "Great Job Hendry" and "Excited but worried" options. Regardless of the outcome, I think Hendry did a great job. The possible rewards are worth the risk and am not worried about the risks.
  15. I just heard the news and haven't read any of the reactions. I have to say that I am loving it. Harden has some risks but I like that we are throwing caution to the wind to get a title. Harden will be with us next year too, which is about the window I think this team has to win a WS.
  16. think about squeezing a cherry... with or without the pit?
  17. Didn't they have mullett night a few years ago. Then there's the father and son smoke all the crack you can before a game beat the 1st base coach night. Have you seen the people that attend White Sox games? It's mullet night every night.
  18. option years, not times. Murton has been optioned 1 this year already. Doesnt that mean if they want to send him down, theyd have to DFA him, and hope he doesnt make it through waivers, which he wouldnt? And Ronny hasnt been Optioned yet this year, hint hint. Is Cedeno out of options? Did he have to clear waivers when he started the season in AAA (or am I dreaming and he didn't start out in AAA)?
  19. That's a great stat. Thanx..... I got a mess of 'em !!! CUBS are 1-0 when they've won their last 7 game(s) in a row CUBS are 1-0 when they've won their last 8 game(s) in a row Record when the game thread is hosted by the Super Fans? Record on days Todd has a heart attack?
