  2. The best of the entire daft....Tom Brady?
  3. This is a sad day. His 20 strikeout performance in 1998 was the pinnacle for me. I remember being giddy about getting the chance to see Kerry as a young phenom pitching that day against Houston. I was talking him up to my family before the game and he did not disappoint. Looking at the boxscore from that day, he gave up a single infield hit and a HBP (of course it was a well-armored Craig Biggio). Cubs outfielders had only two chances all day. Wood had a GSc of 105, which is the highest GSc for a nine-inning game in major league history. I hope he gets the opportunity to work for the organization in some fashion.

  7. My best team ended up 13-1 and outscored everyone in the league by nearly 200 points, but it wasn't the draft that made the team so dominant. I drafted from the #9 slot and had McCoy drop to me. He ended up the #1 RB this year. My second pick was MJD with the 4th pick of round two. He ended up the #4 RB. My first bust was with my third pick, DeSean Jackson. He ended up being the #31 WR. Matt Schaub was my fourth pick. He finished as the #20 QB. Stafford ended up being picked in the 8th round by someone else. Harvin was my 5th pick and he finished as the #9 WR, so he was a nice pick up. Daniel Thomas with the 6th...bust. Graham with the 7th pick was my best value. Fred Jackson (#14 RB) was my 8th round pick. Not one of the next five players I picked in the next six rounds stuck with my team long. In round 15, I took a flyer on a rookie 3rd string RB from Dallas, Murray, who paid big dividends while he was healthy. My team was extremely strong at RB and WR (after picking up T Smith (#22) and L Robinson (#19) from FA) and rode that strength in the regular season. Injuries to Schaub, Jackson and Murray derailed the team in the semifinals, so I didn't even win the championship.
  8. Miami will have a lot to say about that. I only see two remotely winnable games on their schedule (Denver and Kansas City), which is much more difficult than that of the Rams. The Fish are headed for 1-15 while the Rams will pull out 2-3 wins, at worst.
  9. I curse you Adam Dunn. You made me finish third instead of first...just like the White Sox. Of course, I was the only one to pick Ian Kinsler, this year's wild card winner.
  10. I have no idea who he is, but the guy on the far right looks like a gunfighter lookin' for a fight.
  11. Drop Dunn add Bautista
  12. Same here. I had a bigger ball-and-chain to get rid of.
  13. Drop Morneau Add McCutchen
  14. Apparently having Dunn is the key to success. I still have him on my roster too.
  15. It's not MLB, but the one where the guy kicks the catcher first before charging the mound ranks high in my book. Wasn't that spring training? Look up Izzy Alcantara.
  16. I beat the rush and re-upped.
  17. Maybe we should all give LeBron a break now. It wasn't even his idea. He did it all for the kids. http://nba-point-forward.si.com/2011/06/30/behind-the-scenes-details-of-the-decision/?xid=cnnbin&hpt=hp_bn10
  18. That's clearly a flop.
  19. That, and some heavy drinking before drafting. There were some concerns about Ramirez struggling a bit at the plate this year. Also, I think there is an idea that Ramirez will eventually move to a "non-premium" position because of his sub par defense at short. Castro is seen as someone who has a good shot at winning a batting crown, develop decent power and turn into an above average defensive player. He also has quite a bit more career left than Ramirez.
  20. these injuries are to be expected with an aging injury prone lineup like the Cubs have. i dont think that baseballs to the face really care if the person being hit is 20 or 40 What did I miss with Aramis? His face getting smashed in by a bad hop grounder.
  21. So you think there is a chance the Cubs will score? I guess that gives me hope.
  22. I can't imagine the Cubs getting another player picked in the top 30. If the draft went three rounds (90 picks), would another Cub player or prospect get picked?
  23. Drop B Posey Add G Sanchez
  24. Too bad one of them doesn't Kendry Morales himself.
