  1. Jesus Christ you guys, go to a High School game if 2010 technology is just too distracting for you. You sound like my grandfather bitching about the 3 point line.
  2. Because perhaps our front office could maximize value of that "proven talent", replace his spot on the field with an emerging talent (and replace his spot on the field with a "potential" talent) while getting back a SP that is better than Wada/Wood/EJackson/whomever and then not have to feel cornered into giving out another Lester-like deal. Use that money towards LF or CF and bench/bullpen.
  3. I don't really expect Schwarber to be a full time catcher in the bigs but it sure would be nice if he could do it a start or two a week and allow us to create some monster lineups against the right team/pitcher.
  4. Really? You really think Theo is coaching Jason Madison on how to talk to reporters? Really? Cause I don't. And I think you're reading way too much in a quote.

  6. Hi, welcome! Now let me disagree with you... 1. Hamels IS a #1 or 2 but if it makes you feel better, for us he can slot in at 3 behind Lester and Arrietta. And with a 4 like Hammel and a 5 like Hendricks, who really cares about arbitrary numbers? 2. Of course Philly is asking for a big return for Hamels -- just look at what Samardzija brought back. Here's the thing, though: we can give up a damned good package and not miss a beat. While they aren't without warts, a group of Baez+Vogelbach and/or a few others would improve Philly's future outlook without hurting ours too much. But for me, I wouldn't want to see Javy destroying fastballs in the NL unless it's for us. Also, Philly fans don't deserve his badassery.
  7. Also he was arrested last year for beating his wife while their daughter watched. But hey, it was like 3 months ago that we were all reminded and appalled by the terrorific mistake that was Milton Bradley, let's discuss bringing this guy into our clubhouse.
  8. I hope he keeps improving so that he forces our hand in finding him a spot, because I am tied to him a bit and want to see him on the team the next few years, struggles and all. But I have a feeling he's getting traded.
  9. That slide was unreal. He really is The One.
  10. Or maybe Zagunis saw Schwarber's talent+drive and said, "hmm, I'm not beating out this guy, whats my most likely path?" and had a grown up conversation with his bosses about it all.
  11. Isn't that what they used to say every time Reed Johnson did anything? I'd take a Reed Johnson like career for Almora.
  12. I think its the article on the front page... we need a new one to break him out of his slump. Maybe something about him murdering an ump.
  13. Left freaking field. No way he is a worse fielder than Coghlan. Gary Sheffield started out as a SS afterall. Could be, but I think Baez is a way better infielder than Bryant and that there wouldn't be that much difference between them in LF. I think the best configuration (so long as Castro is playing SS) would be Bryant in LF, Baez at 2B, Russell to 3B. But it's close between Russell and Baez. They could easily switch. Just let Joe get his hands on all of them. Rotate em around, give a guy an extra day off. We just played 17 straight. That's going to catch up to our rookies. Between LF, 3rd and 2nd we can get Baez enough ABs to justify it and give Russell a day off every now and then. Starlin, too.
  14. So you're saying they should move the fences back
  15. @andruwgreen: Carl Edwards Jr. hitting 95 here on the stadium radar gun. Just blew a fastball by D.J. Peterson for his 2nd strikeout in as many batters. @andruwgreen: And he just hit 96. Hope they'll just call him up and let him skip Iowa when he's ready. I'm bummed they're transitioning him already, but the idea of Edwards going 2 innings at a time as a relief ace is an interesting one. Shark was a pen guy to start. I think Edwards can have a similar path.
  16. Javy 5 Russell 6 Starlin 4 Rizzo 3
  17. I always suspected you were an alias; I just wasn't sure whose it was until now... ?
  18. Why whine on Earth when you know that Heavenly wine awaits?
