    This thing where people assume Piazza took PED's is tiresome. But doesn't the same go for pretty every relevant player between 1990-2005 not named Greg Maddux? Unless, of course he's referring to the other kind of PEDmonster, in which case the list is narrowed to Mel Hall. Did every relevant player not named Greg Maddux have back acne, too? Because Mike Piazza did, so PEDmonster he is!!!!

    Look, if Baez even comes close to his ceiling, you absolutely make room for him. Writing him off as a pro or rooting for increased trade value seems like the popular thing to do lately, but I still have hope. I don't want to go meatbally (because I still have hope for him, too), but perhaps it will be Castro we don't have room for?

    The sooner he can get his mojo back and we can get rid of Herrera or Baxter or some other crappy bench player the better. i agree, but herrera basically doesn't play. there's no point in calling up alcantara so that he can make one plate appearance per week. if he's called up, he would need to see spot starts at 2b and cf. he's been a lot worse against RHP in his major league career, which doesn't make him an ideal platoon guy with fowler and russell, but i'm not sure if that's just a small sample size thing for mendy. He'd be used as a super sub, and if his future is with the Cubs, it's probably where he'll be. And that's by no means meant as a knock on him. If he was in the plans as a super sub at the MLB level, wouldn't we be using him similarly in AAA? I mean, Joe says his struggles were confidence related, but that may have been an effect of trying to learn CF, be ready to play third, or just not knowing which spot he'd be at day to day. When was the last time he's played in CF or 3B in Iowa?
