  1. I'm guessing the Lucroy pursuit would mean a Montero trade. I'm guessing he'd still like to shoot Ross into space.
  2. Who is amassing better talent so far through their rebuilds? Atlanta or Philadelphia?
  3. i don't know about HARD pass but meh Yeah. I mean, if that means we sign Heyward, then yeah, Ozuna/Heyward CF/RF I can live with. But I'd prefer either Heyward/Soler CF/RF or free agent/Heyward CF/RF with Soler packaged for one of those high upside arms. I still kinda believe that this FO plans for Almora to be up this year or next, so I realize that that wishful thinking clouds my judgement.
  4. Wouldn't be shocked if Bryant becomes Schwarber's defensive replacement in LF late in games and Javy takes over 3rd.
  5. Yeah, I didn't remember Homer eating baklava from Aladdin, which is what I thought was happening there.
  6. And I wouldn't judge you if I saw you wearing those in an airport. I might even think they're cool and ask about them (but if you then pulled out your Cubs keychain and matching Cubs wallet and beltbuckle, then I will definitely think you're a moran). They just aren't for me. I spent the extra $$ on some Bose headphones that are my world.
  7. Here's where I disagree, I guess. I take my keychain and wallet everywhere from games to work to dates and my headphones at the gym, airport or wherever. I typically only go all logo-ed out at a sporting event where that game is being played or broadcasted. you only wear cubs gear to games (or to watch them at bars or something)? I mean if I have a t shirt or sweatshirt that looks good with jeans or something on a weekend or at the gym, sure, I'll wear it. But I don't have a full wardrobe of Cubs clothing that I wear at work or anything.
  8. Here's where I disagree, I guess. I take my keychain and wallet everywhere from games to work to dates and my headphones at the gym, airport or wherever. I typically only go all logo-ed out at a sporting event where that game is being played or if I'm watching it at a bar. I'm a sports fan but I don't need the world to know it every day I step out of the house.
  9. so you can only get cubs logos on like baseballs and bats and gloves? what about basketballs? do those count since they are related to sports? You can do whatever you want. Personally, I only have logos on clothing or items you would find at a tailgate (tables, chairs, flags, etc). Slapping a logo on electronics equipment just feels like a money grab to me, I dunno. I might just be weird about it.
  10. I've never understood why people would want to get their favorite sport team logos on things that have noting to do with sports. Edit: I mean I understand it. I just won't fall for it.
  11. I have this feeling that we'll bring Starlin back at the 2024 trade deadline or through a waiver trade or something. He'll finish his career with a ring with us as backup 3B/2B.
  12. If we're trading both Soler and Baez I'd try to get a better return and package them together and go for it on an established ace, if possible. Gray, Sale Archer, Fernandez... what will these guys cost in addition to Soler+Baez?
  13. Consider me someone who does NOT want Cincy to come away with a great deal here... I mean. They are still in OUR division, right?
  14. I would much rather have Price for 3 years and 90 million than 7 years and 210 million.
  15. In the Red Sox trade to get Kimbral... can someone give me an equivalent of our prospects to the ones Boston gave up? I lean toward trade to add to our SP. Jiminez, McKinney, Torres, Happ, Vogelbach, Villanueva, Candelario, Contreras (and more) are all kind of blocked right now. I'm not advocating trading all of them, but the "2 year window" thing to me means that they honestly believe they can/should win WS in 2016 and 2017. So lets go all in and deal with 2018 through the draft, Cuba and other international avenues. Because I think $45 mil a year or whatever its going to be to pay Lester and Shark in 2018 and beyond to only throw 2/5th (at best) of the season is not an attractive thought.
  16. Because trading your top prospects doesn't fit the rebuilding playbook? Wouldn't that be like Beane asking for Theo to include Edwards or Almora in the Russell deal last year? Yeah, you can ask, but no, we aren't interested in trading any of our Top 10 or whatever, lets get the deal done with cash or lower level lottery tickets
  17. So... you would be OK with letting Javy or Jorge tear up the first half and then ... trade them off? I mean... why? If either of those two "breaks out" and even sniff their potential then theres very, very few pitchers I would trade them for. Not to mention I would expect us to be another legitimate contender if either of them are playing well, so why risk messing with the clubhouse to bring in a guy who throws every 5th day? I guess I could part with Jorge only because he is so cemented in a corner OF spot that we could reasonably replace. But if/when Javy breaks out you plug him in the lineup every day and if anyone suggests trading him you go right ahead and kick them in their parent's faces.
  18. Let's say we sign Price and trade for Archer... Who pitches leadoff?
  19. Soler+Baez+Underwood = Archer McKinney+Contreras = Miller Sign Heyward+Fowler CF Fowler RF Heyward 3B Bryant 1B Rizzo LF Schwarber 2B Castro C Montero P Arrieta/Archer/Lester/Miller/Hendricks SS Russell
  20. We can not sign either of those two guys and still win the WS. Deniable teams win it all the time.
  21. I mean, it wouldnt really matter how you fill out the lineup card. Get some glove-first OF depth for the late innings after we've donged ourselves to a 7 run lead or whatever. Profit. 1B Rizzo 2B Castro/La Stella 3B Bryant/Baez SS Russell/Baez LF Schwarber/Bryant CF Heyward RF Soler/Heyward C Montero/Schwarber
  22. HEYWARD. Im kind of certain that he is going to keep getting better.
