  1. Keep him in his current role as 5th OF/pinch runner and build the best bench in the game along with best starting lineup, coaching and pitching staff?
  2. Its pretty cool how spread out our top position prospects are across the diamond. This is the next wave, essentially, I mean, if they weren't all mostly blocked by future hall of famers. C Contreras 1B Vogelbach 2B Happ 3B Candelario SS Torres LF McKinney CF Almora RF Jimenez
  3. To be unnecessarily fair to Jackson, it was probably more between Schawrber and Conforto than Jackson. Schwarber had more power with 40 HRs in college to Conforto's 31, including only 7 as a junior. Fair. Alex Jackson was in the mix with about two weeks to go. Then Conforto seemed to be the leader before Schwarber came on strong in the days right before the draft. I never got the Conforto infatuation - same defensive questions in the OF without even the potential at C AND less power than Schwarber. Guessing they were infatuated knowing that his ability would be able to help the big club sooner rather than later? Just so happens that Schwarber fit that bill better. No harm in having 2nd, 3rd options, and Conforto was a fine backup plan.
  4. Damn those seats look comfy
  5. Yeah, he did that last year, too. Joe is the best. The best, I tell ya.
  6. What's great is its not far off from our "best case scenario" lineups that we'd predict from years ago and we still have the guys in the organization (Baez, Almora) who could eventually replace and out produce guys we didn't expect to be here (Zobrist, Fowler) this season or next.
  7. Just a guess, but I would guess Schwarber starts in left like normal because thats where Joe will need him to get most comfortable and its the first game of the year and his legs feel good and he wants to play it and yada yada, run him out there. He can DH the second game. I could see Joe using TLS as the DH to get him used to hitting off the bench, as I could see him being our most used pinch hitter throughout the year. But I mean I'm sure Joe knows that we can play La Stella at SS and DH Addison if we want and still win by like eleven.
  8. Is this the "worst" realistic lineup we can put out there, assuming a 4 man bench? CF Fowler SS Russell 1B Rizzo RF Soler LF Schwarber 3B Baez 2B LaStella C Ross P Lester
  9. Yeah, it is hard to believe sometimes. Like, the guy who gets the most buzz as a potential MVP, Anthony Rizzo, might be the 4th best player on this team. That's just a stupid amount of talent. Maybe 5th. Watch out for Addison Russell, folks.
  10. Yeah I mean it is what it is and I'm not crying about our situation, but the reality was that we had a cheapish, good hitting backup catcher already when we signed Ross. I think most people were excited about the possibility of Joe matching up Montero and Castillo favorably and give us above average production from the catchers all year, maybe even the best in the league. But once the Ross signing became reality, it was kind of annoying knowing that he was basically killing Welly's trade value, and not because he was a necessarily better player. But that was then, this is now, I think we'll be OK.
  11. I really think Murton's only path to the team before rosters expand is with an injury or trade of Soler and even then, no guarantees.
  12. Has Bryant grown 3 inches? Or has Rizzo shrunk and am I the only one who kind of wishes they all weren't smiling?
  13. My favorite part of that, is that it's a KC site, and they have a poll at the end..."Do you think the St. Louis Cardinals should be the official baseball team of the State of Missouri?" Good poll guys! My favorite part is that the results aren't even close. A resounding NO by a nearly 90% difference. GREAT poll guys!
  14. I can't wait to see him backtrack if he averages like 28 HRs the next 2 years and is less than 20 away from Bonds. But would anyone sign him? Miami maybe? Sure' he'd have to play 1B but it might be worth it to them for the attendance bump and to have the HR record broken by a Marlin. And, you know, hometown kid.
  15. Now do the Cardinals and tell me who was born when Crash Test Dummies were hot
  16. Is this a good depth chart you guys? Should win some games maybe?
  17. Murton accepts a minor league assignment over a better offer knowing that he will at least get called up once rosters expand. Once they do, he comes up and hits a walkoff HR. Or something. Enough to make the highlight video. Rizzo + Bryant = 80 HRs Schwarber + Soler + Russell + Baez = 80 HRs 7 guys makes the All Star team Heyward, Russell and Rizzo all win Gold Gloves
  18. I'd bet that as long as Ross and Lester are healthy, they will throw to each other. I could see Schwarber catching Hendrick's games as long as the opposition matchup makes sense. If its a Hendricks start against a team that steals bases or something else that Joe sees and doesn't like, I doubt it'll be ironclad. But this is Grandpa Rossy's farewell tour, he'll be out there for Lester.
  19. I like this lineup but I'd switch Fowler and Schwarber. Theres just something about Fowler on first with Schwarber at the plate that gets me all excited..
  20. I think its pretty obvious that Fowler is going to lead off every time he's starting unless he starts off slumping or Joe just wants to throw a weird lineup out there to shake things up.
  21. "We may hold on to this 5 run lead this time but don't expect a proven organization like the Cardinals to roll over and not claw their way back in to it. We better fix some things and fix them fast."
  22. Russell platoons with no man. And I love Baez.
