  1. Almora playing over Javy and to a lesser extent Soler is crazy talk at this point & i understand hes had some nice improvement. Why is it crazy? I mean, Jorge is a butcher right now both in the field and at the plate. Almora is at least a plus defender, and the way our lineup is constructed, he can ease his way in at the bottom like Addison has done/is doing. Besides, I never said Almora would explicitly play over Javy, I never said call him up to be our starting CF. You know Joe can find ways to keep everyone fresh. And way to overlook the fact that we'd be getting Teheran back in this scenario. Not sure whats so crazy about trying to get a guy like him for a package including someone like Jorge, who may not even have a role on the team next year, but whatever.
  2. Trade him and stuff for Teheran, move Dex to left and call up Almora. Keep Dex in center, put KB in left & Javy at 3rd other days. Piggyback lesser two by then of Hammel, Lackey and Hendricks. Profit?
  3. Man, why is it a regional cover though? What could be more important to highlight on the East Coast than The Greatest American Sports Story Ever Left To Be Completed would be?
  4. Man, I'd love to have a copy of that photo. It appears as if Javy is floating just above the ground, as I'm sure he still feels he is even this morning.
  5. The walkoff is obviously the play of the game, but him throwing out Zimmerman on that soft grounder with the bases loaded was right behind it. He is such a valuable player right now, we wouldn't be where we are with Kawasaki up here, thats for sure.
  6. so the first two strikes seemed low, ok, no big deal. But then you call strike 3 high, thats pretty shitttttty
  7. I just want to go on record, once again, as being one of the only people on the, "HOLY [expletive]! GO GET JIM EDMONDS!" bandwagon after the Padres dumped him. I was also possibly the only person on this entire forum that wanted to re-sign him after 2008 (to a minimum deal, of course). The guy then took a year off baseball and came back in 2010 and OPS'd .846. Oh, ok then. I'm convinced. Give McCutcheon whatever he wants. And someone get Theo to hire CubbieSwagger for the FO because he's an oracle
  8. So those 2 calls on Papi last night were... bad
  9. All you have to do is google "Jake Arrieta steroids" and boom a few hits appear. A few tweets as well. So there has been some speculative smoke for whatever that is worth. .... Doesn't mean it's reality
  10. Normally I would agree but normally I wouldn't also be sitting here May 6th expecting to be playing for the World Series later this year, and normally All Star games don't affect things like home field advantage in championships but baseball's does, so I guess this year I kind of care. And also 2008 was fun as hell when we had 14 representatives or whatever. Lets do that again and add Harper and a few other monsters to ensure that the Cubs have HFA later this fall, ok? OK! :good:
  11. I know this is so short sighted and frankly meatbally, but dammit i want him signed even if were paying him 20 million at age 39 Part of me thinks the Cubs will not get into serious negotiations until after this season to see how his arm holds up after all the innings last year and presumably this year Sounds like a bargain at this point
  12. Right now we have a starting pitching staff with 1 no hitter already this year and aims to add more to it. Selfishly, I'd like to see Contreras only because its fun having someone at each spot in the lineup that you are excited to watch, even if it were a late inning pinch hit/substitution change, but I just don't trust that he's ready yet to handle our staff at the level they will demand out of him. Frankly, I'm not sure Federowicz is either, but he's a better option to. This is the right move. The FO will bring him up when he's ready to succeed, and now must not be it.
  13. Good. That's probably the best 3 sequence. Especially for me, since I will be in Pittsburgh for the second game and already have great seats \:D/
  14. Thats when he drunk dials Hillary Clinton
  15. Regardless of what Tallion ends up becoming, the Pirates picked him over Machado, which made me wonder "what if"... Could you imagine Pittsburgh with Machado or Houston with Bryant?
  16. Thank god technology hasn't advanced yet to allow for immediate communication between multiple people, else our game wouldnt remain pure.
  17. I mean, if you're a team that wants to win a world series in the next few years and you could use a very, very, very good first baseman... and all it would take is a "middle of the road prospect"... then, yes. Yes, it would make a ton of sense for the Blue Jays. But I don't see that deal make a ton of sense for the Reds, so...
  18. And someone tell Hendricks to grow a goddamned mustache
