  4. wow so there's at least 6 war right there Top notch.
  5. Throwing in the towel? I think it's flipping over a table.
  6. did you know chris sale is really good too? i might make that my next thread You seem unusually worked up about Sontensi's Chris Sale comments.
  7. Not getting Trout or Stanton has nothing to do with not needing their bats. Every team always needs bats like that.
  8. I don't know what this is, but I am strangely mesmerized by it.
  9. He's better than Baxter I guess. Debatable, but really who cares. Neither is any good.
  10. Bill Maher made a joke during his monologue about Chris Christie being fat in a baseball uniform and made a comment to the effect of, "Sammy Sosa...more like Sammy SOFA, amirite??!?" The part Jumbo posted was a transcript of Maher. It just wasn't clearly indicated that's what it was.
  11. Didn't they say a similar thing with Alcantara last year (that he was definitely just coming up to get a cup of coffee), but then he went on a tear and they decided to keep him up instead? Obviously a different situation with Schwarber trying to improve his catching, I know.
  12. It's June. Dongs aplenty, please.
  13. Jeff Luhnow is hurriedly changing all of his passwords from GMLuhnow1 to GMLuhnow2, just to be extra safe.
  14. Did Kruk just say his uniform moved due to the ball's centrifugal force?..
  15. The Cubs are finally giving us the blowout win we've been hoping to see. This pleases me greatly.
  16. Well there was obvious hyperbole in there, but the point is that just because you can roll back the final outcome to some initial decision so far removed from the consequence But nobody rolled back the final outcome to some initial decision so far removed from the consequence until you talked about the guy being born. I think I've pretty well shown that you're wrong there. Both you and David seem to be under the mistaken assumption that that wasn't an example of how it's ultimately a spurious line of reasoning. Like I said, hooray for redundancy. Still think you're actually a Cardinals fan. Keep respondin in dem threads you guys.

  18. I thought it was pretty obviously a two point comment of, "wow, even though she wasn't the one driving drunk, she should have recognized that he was wildly drunk and not gotten in the car, what an exceptionally poor decision." Don't move the target. The main thing here was not your annoyance at my particular way of phrasing that, but rather your incorrect assertion that someone pointing that out equates to also blaming her for the accident. I don't have to distill my thinking down to diametric black & white: I can recognize her responsibility in not preventing her death without it at all taking away from his responsibility in causing it.
  19. Well there was obvious hyperbole in there, but the point is that just because you can roll back the final outcome to some initial decision so far removed from the consequence that the person can't reasonably be held responsible for the cause-effect relationship (i.e., the decision to date him was a bad decision because it did eveeeeentually result in her death = silly conclusion) doesn't mean that rolling back the final outcome to the immediately preceding decision is some sort of useless exercise (i.e., the decision to get into the car with an obviously drunk driver = obviously bad decision). If anything, trying to equate these two in any meaningful way is the absurd jump in logic.
  20. Well I guess if we're going to play that game, let's blame the real culprit here, Taveras' mom, for giving birth to that monster in the first place. STOP VICTIM SHAMING POOR OSCAR, HE DIDN'T ASK TO BE BORN! wow that's dumb of you Nope, exact same logic. it's not even close to the same logic Then you should have no problem explaining why.
