  1. As a hitter off the bench, Grieve wouldn't be a bad choice. My only problem would be is that Neifi and Macias would be the immediate backup options at 2B...and that's not a good thing. I'd rather not see Macias attempting to turn double plays, thanks. Neifi I could live with, but it'd pain me to see him in the lineup this often. It's possible Cedeno, Lewis, or Fontenot gets called up, but it mostly depends on what the Cubs value. ...yeah, it'll be Grieve.
  2. Might as well ask it before some one else does... Where do you think Sisco would rank if he was given back to the Cubs?
  3. That kinda sucks for Norwood. I was hoping he'd put out a good effort this season and continue to solidify our 1B depth.
  4. He was hitting 93/94 on the radar gun, which is up from the reported high 80s he was hanging around in Daytona. However, he was all over the place.
  5. Tack 2 earned runs onto that line.
  6. 25 pitches, 11 for strikes. Not the best of outings.

  8. I'm just hoping they pass Washington for the 4th seed. If they get home court advantage in the 1st round, they should be golden.
  9. Your guess is correct.
  10. Wow. Almost all of the guys on that list have a really good (if not guaranteed) shot of finishing the season at AA at the very least. That isn't exactly a good thing for the Rule 5 Draft.
  11. This is apparently going to be determined by writing the names of Eddie Oropesa, Stephen Randolph, Will Ohman, Russ Rohlicek, John Koronka, and Glendon Rusch down on little slips of paper, hooking them up to a dartboard, and having Darren Baker throw a dart at it.
  12. I wasn't being negative! But I mean, I just find it really curious that they can't find anything wrong with him. I would have been happier if Fleita said something to the effect of how they wanted to reduce wear and tear on Brownlie's shoulder by slowly building up his endurance and getting his velocity back as his arm strengthens, yes. However, the fact that they can't find anything physically wrong and there isn't much in terms of reports on the why of his velocity dropping really is just puzzling to me. If he's regularly hitting the low 90s with his fastball next season, and makes it through fully healthy, then it'll all be moot, imo. Still, I wouldn't worry about not getting to every question. You covered PLENTY of ground and this was one of the more informative chats I've read in quite some time! My hat is off to you.
  13. Awesome guys! Thanks for setting this up. :D It's nice to get some more info on Gallagher, Puello, and Santana. Granted, it wasn't an in-depth scouting report, but it's nice to know we have some good guys coming down the chute for Boise and Peoria! Also, this Brownlie thing is starting to become just weird.
  14. Well, it is Dusty... That's not necessarily a bad thing. Dusty has shown that he's not afraid to throw young pitchers out there and prove themselves. Mitre might not have the same ceiling as Pinto or Guzman, but he's got an advantage over the two in that he has major league experience along with tough makeup. I have a pretty good feeling about our 5th starter situation next season. We might not get a rookie of the year or a Cy Young winner out of whoever wins the job, but a reasonable ERA and WHIP aren't out of the question.
  15. So...anyone upset that we traded this year's first rounder to draft Luol Deng? :D
  16. Ouch. Tough shot on Prince; I actually kinda like him.
  17. I'm not the only one who thought the NBA went too soft on Ben Wallace for inciting the crowd during The Riot, am I?
  18. Anyone want to take bets on when the Detroit fans start showering the court with garbage?
  19. Rip Hamilton...keeping his team both in the game and taking them out of the game at the same time!
  20. Sunday is a light day: Meet Cubs Business Management (business VP Mark McGuire, marketing VP John McDonough, and ticket sales director Frank Maloney) start at 9 in the Boulevard Room near the hotel main entrance, then Down on the Farm with farm director Oneri Fleita and scouting director John Stockstill in the same room at 10:30 -- the session I particular attend for. This year's DOTF prospects are Jason Dubois and Jon Leicester; I'm a bit surprised Sergio Mitre isn't listed. There's a kids session overlapping those 2, and more autographs, but the whole thing's wrapped up by noon. Do you have any particular plans on asking Fleita and Stockstill any questions in particular? If so, what?
  21. Hey, what people get the Interim Game Starter roles this year? I wouldn't mind taking CT's place! :D
  22. I think depression is a pre-requisite to being a White Sox fan  Although, they do have some guys who seem like they might jump off the ledge on nights when the White Sox, Cardinals, and Astros lose and the Cubs and Twins win. Those guys make the fatalists here look well-adjusted ;)
  23. I've lurked on that forum numerous times. While some people need to get their heads examined for the sheer level of hatred they have for the Cubs (we're talking psychosis-level stuff), there are a good number of knowledgeable posters who seem like cool guys. It's entertaining and a good way to waste time. Plus, I can gain more ammo for when I get into arguments with my Sox fan friends ;) It's hilarious watching the expressions on their faces when I bring up how bad the White Sox farm system is and talk about guys like Honel and Sweeney. A Cubs fan who knows even more about the White Sox than they do causes them to run the gamut of emotions and question the nature of reality itself
