    Toronto seems to be hanging back in the three team slugfest that is the AL East (only 4.5 games back), but I'm curious about the availability of Vernon Wells. To start the season, he was having some issues with the strike zone and was not nearly as effective as he once was. However, lately, he's been cooking with gas. His line for the season: .280/.327/.496 He still is fairly young (26) and could improve on those numbers. Maybe it's me throwing some crap at the wall, but I'm curious as to whether the Jays think they're still in it or if they're looking to unload. Wells' free agency is coming up and, much like Dunn, he will be a more expensive player in the near future. So...what do you people think it would take to pry him from the Blue Birds?

    Hairston had an initial bad read on the catch, but he more than made up for it by going all out on it.

    I'm a nice and happy person in my life. I do my best to be a good guy to other people and remain calm about matters. However, the Cubs somehow manage to turn me into a frothing lunatic. I don't get it sometimes. Way to get out of the inning guys!

    You just know a grand slam here is coming. By the way, the number of HRs gives up and propensity to lose control, thereby giving up his share of WPs, HBPs, and BBs, makes me think that middle relief would not be the best place to put him.

    What was? (I'm not watching the game) Burn hit a chopper to the 2B, who made a diving stop. Barrett had pretty much conceded the force at this point and slowed up. However, the 2B decided to have a sense of urgency and tried to flip the ball to the SS straight frmo his glove...only it went over the SS's head. All hands were safe.
