  1. Might want to tread lightly. Discussion of the game is welcome, but openly cheering for the Cardinals and trying to spark discussion best suited in rivalries won't be welcome here. Everytime I have been here I have caused no problems, and I don't see what I did to deserve a warning. I ain't a mod; I'm just some one who enjoys the game threads when people aren't bickering and yelling at one another. There are three or four Cardinals fans on this board who have developed a positive reputation on this board and who are well-known. You may one day be among those numbers, but for now, I don't think a whole lot of Cubs fans here know you. I don't have anything against you; far from it. I just don't want anyone to take your comments to be antagonistic and cause trouble due to it.
  2. Strangely, most Cubs fans would say that Walker has been halfway decent defensively since coming to the Cubs. Apparently his time in Boston was the worst of his career defensively. Nice hit Lawton.

  4. Here's a fun story from the minor leagues today: Elephant throws out first pitch in West Michigan game.
  5. Miller seemed rather happy about that Edmonds hit.
  6. Nice job setting that fastball up by Blanco and Prior. Good sequence.
  7. Anything by Eckstein that can be qualified as "well-hit" in the air typically ends up shallow in the OF.
  8. Gotta love a woman with a good pair of chesticals.
  9. If Pujols wins the triple crown I might well puke.
  10. Brian, Since your first few years saw you pretty far away from Florida, what's it like playing so close to home for you now; especially with a team based in Dunedin, who you guys played earlier in the year? Have you spent time visiting old friends and coaches who are still in the area? Secondly, I've read a few articles that you're really dedicating yourself to improving your defense at first. What steps have you taken to help improve your game in that area? Third, what was it like playing the Arizona Fall League with some of the best and most advanced prospects in baseball? Were you honored that the Cubs thought highly enough of you to give you the opportunity to play there? What adjustments did you have to make, especially considering the quality of the pitchers there? Thanks for taking your time in answering our questions! Here's hoping for nothing but the best for you!
  11. God, what a depressing thought. I can make it worse!!!! Joe Morgan is in the booth tonight.
  12. Think Bobby Cox would like some payback for Phil Garner & Phonegate last year? Also, don't forget Brad Lidge being in the equation. As much as I think Phil Garner wants Lidge's arm to explode, he's still a nasty closer.
  13. Pawelek and the rest of the Mesa pitchers had a stellar outing, but Mesa can't provide any run support.
  14. I'll be posting the Boise box score either late tonight or tomorrow. They're getting killed 7-0 right now, so I don't think we'll be missing much. Hopefully it'll be a good night out on the town. :D

  16. Damn. Another foot and that would have been in the basket.
  17. Burnitz nearly took that ball into the batter's eye!
  18. McCarver went dead silent on that Ramirez HR. ha ha.
  19. Better K/BB and more Ks than Clemens. That's about it, though (unless you're a fool who loves wins for pitchers).
  20. A 23 year old pitcher with 4-5 average to above average pitches who's getting back into playing shape, still has room left to mature, and is cheap? ...right.
  21. Oh look, it's the Bartman play! I'll be seeing that replayed and mentioned on every nationally televised Cubs game until the day I die. Yay.
  22. Is it possible for a nationally televised game not to mention the Yankees, Red Sox, or any of the players on those teams?
  23. What happened? I muted it in the last half inning. McCarver said something to the effect of, "Firing a manager often makes less sense than hiring a manager!" There was a moment of awkward silence, then Buck said, "I'd respond to what it is you just said, but I can't because it made no sense."
