  2. With the 87th pick, Masturbatory Autism takes Randy McMichael, TE, MIA
  3. Show of hands. Up until that play there, how many of you have ever seen an infield single plate two runs without an error involved?
  4. Furcal is painfully overrated and will get way more money than he's really worth. Cedeno might have a dropoff in some areas, but he'll be cheaper and a better long term option. Also, Sullivan has a history of throwing plentiful amounts of crap at the wall to see if it would stick. I'm not believing it until I see it.

  6. =D> =D> \:D/ \:D/ E-Patt at a more age appropriate level, rockin'! Congrats to everyone else on their promotions, too!
  7. We still haven't received a replacement for Crouthers...
  8. Well.... that's a trait I value in girlfriends and center fielders, eh? Okay, I'll admit to lolling to this. Well played!
  9. Darn you and your logic! :P I was going more on what my eyes were telling me while watching Corey in his return (although I could have sworn he had drawn more than two walks since coming back; yikes). No, I did not think that he had completely reversed himself, that'd be asking for a miracle. Instead, it seemed more to me that he was finally making progress, which was completely different from anything we had seen from him this season. However, it seems like any perceived progress I thought he was making has pretty much been flushed down the toilet. Can't wait for the same thing to happen to Felix Pie over the next few years.
  10. A little more eloquence and a little less hyperbole will serve you well. :D It's really not hyperbole, though. When Patterson first came back from AAA, he looked like the kind of hitter we were all told he would become. He was working counts, drawing walks, hitting the ball to all fields, and utilizing his speed effectively. In essence, it seemed like he finally might have gotten himself back on track. But, instead, since then he's falling back into his old habits. He's swinging at bad pitches, using that loopy swing too frequently, and essentially regressing. That to me speaks way more about this coaching staff than Corey Patterson. The fact that he's falling back into these bad habits despite showing some promise is just a waste, to me. This coaching staff has completely screwed him over. I almost want the Cubs to trade him somewhere else so that he can shove it in the faces of these morons. Gah, it's so frustrating knowing that good coaching could make him into at the very least an above average player. But instead, he's not getting that up in the bigs.
  11. Taking creative writing this semester, I see  Just feeling a tad bit eloquent today. :P
  12. Oh Corey. I feel so horrible for you. If you came up with any team other than the Cubs, you'd be considered one of the best young hitters in the game. But no, you had to come up with the Cubs and deal with a cadre of idiots and buffoons for managers and coaches in the big leagues. If the Cubs trade him for some magic beans and he flourishes elsewhere, I'm going to have an incredible grudge against Dusty Baker.
  13. Runner on second, 1 out...Neifi up. I would not be surprised if he managed to hit into a double play.
  14. I'd instead cry about the fact that this team can't score more than one run.
  15. It all depends on whether or not he can finally master AAA. He's been really good in AA for the past two years, but he absolutely has to prove that he can take on the Pacific Coast League.
  16. Thanks for making this possible everyone!
  17. 6-2, 3.53 ERA, 15 games, 9 starts, 58.2 IP, 48 hits, 26 runs, 23 earned, 3 HRs, 20 walks, 52 strikeouts Drafted by the Yankees in 2003 out of Community College, 43rd round. Clearly a draft & follow guy. Let me dig up some scouting reports if possible. Born: June 7th, 1984 Height: 6'3 Weight: 190 lbs Judging from his lines, he doesn't seem like an overpowering pitcher who thrives on striking out batters. When he's effective, he keeps the ball in the ball park, induces lots of ground ball outs, and doesn't walk guys. It seems that when he's not having a good night, he still won't walk a lot of guys, but he will get hit. I'm guessing he's a sinker baller, especially since he tends to do better at starting games than relief, but I could be way off.
  18. The deal's not official yet per ESPN.com. The upper tiers of the NYY farm system aren't all that great, but lately they've been doing better in terms of drafting. Their lower minor leagues have some guys who are intriguing, but they don't have a ton of note in AA and AAA. Looking at the 40 man, it's not going to be any of the following prospects or young players, since they'd have to pass through waivers: RHP Jason Anderson RHP Colter Bean RHP Jorge De Paula LHP Wayne Franklin LHP Sean Henn RHP Sam Marsonek C Will Nieves IF Andy Phillips OF Melky Cabrera OF Kevin Reese Of those, the only ones who really are of interest to me are Cabrera and Bean...so, meh. Hopefully we got some one actually worthwhile.

  22. Two quotes from today's Daily Dish over at BA: Also, Razor Shines is a terrific name. I don't quite know if it's as good as Coco Crisp, Jung Bong, Evan Logoria, Dick Pole, or Rusty Kuntz, but it's still quite good.
  23. Too bad he went yesterday. :P
  24. Given the fact that he's gone through plenty in his minor league career and that he's put up some incredible numbers at West Tenn this season, I honestly think Brandon Sing is the best man for the award. His line is just eye-popping to me, needless to say. 117 Games, .282/.404/.551, 68 R, 67 RBI, 27 2B, 25 HR, 100 K, 81 BB Considering he can do that in a pitcher's league, color me quite impressed. Thanks for doing this Tim!
