  1. Vince Coleman jokes are a-okay by me. :D
  2. Although it's nice to see the Cubs have a good and relatively young defensive shortstop who could fill out in Baez. Kinda stunk that the chat was short and only one Mesa Cub was discuessed. I'm still curious about various other prospects down at Mesa and how they looked, as opposed to their stats. Was Dylan Johnston smooth in the field? Were his errors on routine plays or trying to make something out of nothing? Is Yusuf Carter going to stay at catcher, or will a position move be in order? How about Mario Mercedes behind the dish? Did he call a good game and have a good repoire with his pitchers? And what about Russ Canzler? He was repeating Mesa, but was still young, and showed really nice power for his level. Is it him feeding off of inferior pitching or legit? Also, what position is he going to end up at? What other pitchers looked good? Scott Taylor? Jose Pina? Brett Jackson? Too many questions...I'm sure I'll have plenty more when they have the Northwest League Top 20 on the 23rd.
  3. How about NSBB Minor League Statistician? :D I like it! 8)
  4. Just so you guys know, I'm putting that down on my resume. :D I'm working on a job title for it, any ideas?
  5. You clearly have yet to visit White Sox Interactive. :D
  6. Thanks to the announcers and the players for everything they've done here at NSBB! You guys bring so much to the table and we're all eternally grateful. :)

  10. White Sox fans have officially hit the panic button. As every non-White Sox fan has been saying, they simply are not a good team. Their offense is nothing special and they had guys who were pitching waaaaaaaaaay over their heads. This launched them to their memorable first half record. But now, the wheels are starting to come flying off. When their pitching falters, they don't have the guys needed to drive in a bunch of runs per game on a consistent basis. And, to make matters worse, their bullpen isn't exactly sunshine and roses at the moment, either. Even if they make the playoffs (which is still fairly likely), I predict they get swept in the first round.
  11. If he can take Neifi and Macias with him, I'll be dancing in the streets.

  14. Everyone's been saying that he's an incredibly mature and developed prospect for some one his age, so maybe him seeing AA next season would be justified and beneficial.
  15. Honestly, would we rather be losing with Rusch on the mound, or with Hill/Mitre on the mound?
  16. Cedeno's .583 OBP ain't too shabby, either.
  17. After seeing his performances this season, it makes you wonder if the Cubs would be best served by moving Kerry Wood to the pen. I grant you, if he's fully healthy he's an incredible asset to the Cubs' rotation...but it seems like those days are few and far between recently. At least if he's in the BP, he won't pitch as many innings and will only be used sporadically. Heck, give the Cubs a manager who knows how to use a bullpen and he could win the Cy Young in much the same way Gagne did.
  18. It's the same rumors that fly around whenever Notre Dame or some other big name program has a head coaching vacancy. People throw poop at the wall to see what sticks, much like how Paul Sullivan writes the majority of his Cubs articles. With Notre Dame in the offseason, it seemed like everyone from Jon Gruden to Barry Alvarez to Jeff Tedford was rumored for the job at one point. I'm sure that if Luh-loyd Carr gets the axe, we'll be seeing those same rumors once again.
  19. Welcome aboard! His injury history would make Kerry Wood jealous. Nice player when he's healthy, but with the number of injuries he's had this season, I'd be against it.
  20. Great photos DJAXX!
  21. The downside to this will be seeing Notre Dame ranked in the Top 10. Yuck. And Temple reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally sucks.
  22. Oh joy, the Don Baylor "tip your cap" attitude has returned to the Cubs. Excuse me while I beat myself over the head with a tire iron...
  23. Howdy Len! Welcome to NSBB!! So what was it like when you broadcasted your first game of the season for the Cubs? Were you really nervous, or did you just try to relax and let things come naturally? Also, it seemed as if the Cubs had some interesting characters on the team this year, most notably Ryan Dempster. My question is, what appropriate and work safe stories could you share with the NSBB members here about some of the antics guys in the clubhouse got up to? Thanks a bunch for taking our questions! As it has been mentioned, the announcers for the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx and the Peoria Chiefs (Ron Potesta and Nathan Baliva) frequent the minor league forum if you're looking for some more in-depth insight on what's going on with the Cubs' minor leaguers and some fun conversation.
  24. Attempting to use rationality to explain Dusty's line of thinking will only result in insanity. You just can't logically explain almost everything that man does.
