  1. If the A's are offering Zito for Bradley, what should Hendry offer? That was one rumor. The other and more prominent rumor was for Mario Ramos and Saarloos. IF we are giving up two pretty good prospects I would rather have Bradley. Saarloos is pretty good? Huh. News to me.
  2. I'll agree with Sosa and Cruz, but Farns is a wait & see guy with me. Scott Moore is some one worth keeping an eye on and Novoa could turn out to be halfway decent.
  3. The Braves also have insane depth and talent at SS in their system. I'm not even kidding.
  4. Walker, Hawkins, Maddux, and Nomar are pretty much it as far as I can tell. You could also toss Williamson and Dempster on that list if you want to.
  5. This hasn't been the best offseason for intelligence on the whole, has it?
  6. I hadn't heard of him either, but he appears to be a pretty good prospect. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/B/jonathan-broxton.shtml Thanks! Essentially, he's an uber-closer prospect. Everyone rants and raves about his potential as a reliever.
  7. Who's taking his place in the rotation?
  8. Pft, let him sign wherever. Just as long as the Cubs get a first rounder out of it. :D
  9. So...is Milwaukee going to win the Central in 2006 or what? Seriously, the way things are shaping up for this division, that outcome would not surprise me.
  10. If we want Carl Crawford so badly, we should just hang onto Corey Patterson.
  11. 1. Takes value to get value. 2. Aramis helps even out the money--leaving plenty of cash for Hendry to still get the starting pitcher he covets. It depends on whether or not the Phillies are looking to save money. Considering that Blalock was locked up to a fairly cheap deal and could still manage a good degree of production in that extremely hitter-friendly park, I think the Phillies would most likely have interest in him. Also, A-Ram's second year opt-out might be problematic if the Phillies have interest in retaining Ramirez.
  12. Blalock's home/road splits scare me. Why not just flip Blalock to the Phillies instead of A-Ram?
  13. I'm guessing UK is bigger on performance (especially a history of performance) than potential.
  14. From Rotoworld: Billy Martin - Deceased - Yankees? A bizarre rumor has come out of NYC this evening. According to sources, the grave of Billy Martin, former Yankees manager, was been excavated at around midnight EST Saturday night. Witnesses claim that they saw two incredibly effeminate young men in Yankees uniforms at the cemetary around that time. While one of the men came off as very personable and likable, the other one was described as, "Some one you'd want to punch in the face the moment you saw him." According to their accounts, the men quickly dug up Martin's grave, loaded his coffin into a large van, then sped off towards Yankee Stadium. When reached for comment, George Steinbrenner was quoted as saying "Life and death appeared to me ideal bounds, which I should first break through, and pour a torrent of light into our dark world," and then walked away. Man, how ignorant art thou in thy pride of wisdom! Dec. 5 - 12:48 am et Source: New Jersey Star-Ledger
  15. Pft. Dunn's not worth screws, sprockets, metal rods, nails, and sheet metal!
  16. Chuck Norris wouldn't need to catch the ball. The thread of him delivering a roundhouse kick to the ball would be enough to cause the ball to land in Chuck Norris' glove by its own choice each time a hitter makes contact with the ball. Each Cubs pitcher would throw a perfect game. Except Glendon Rusch. Chuck Norris really hates Glendon Rusch.
  17. In honor of our dear, departed comrade m4d, I thought I'd start this thread to mirror the importance of his contribution to this forum. :D Anything that goes in here can range from vaguely realistic to completely out of this world. Heck, it doesn't even have to be baseball-related. Try to make them look like they came from actual sources, though. ;) Let the fun and games begin...mwahahaha!
  18. Can we change the thread title in order to accurately reflect what has happened and not scarify people who wander into this forum?
  19. So...you'd rather that we traded for Delgado and Lo Duca instead of the Mutts?
  20. I understand completely, but I just found your list to be potentially misleading. As much as I'd love to see Hendry swing a trade for Alexis Rios or Erik Bedard, I have a hard time seeing that happen without him trading one of the big name guys. It's pretty rare seeing cheap young talent swapped for cheap young talent (unless a payday is in the near future) and/or prospects, ya know?
  21. Maddux has been in the league long enough that any trade involving him requires his consultation and approval.
  22. DKWG, I think some of the guys you put on there are quite realistic for the Cubs from various standpoints. Others are intriguing possibilities. But you listed some guys on there I could only see the Cubs acquiring via a "white flag" trade. Say, if they traded Derrek Lee. These guys are young, cheap, productive, and have a good to high ceiling. It's not like the Cubs could flip Todd Walker to the Mariners for Jeremy Reed, ya know? Still, that list doesn't exactly make me swell with confidence regarding Hendry's potential trade market.
