  1. You are certain? I am certain that no one tells nor reminds him "Hey, our numbers are slipping, why don't you cook up some absurd article today and get more subscribers!" The voices in his head take care of that on their own, imo.
  2. I'm still hoping Kenny Williams swoops in at the 11th hour and takes Tejada to the South Side in exchange for some ludicrous package. That's my only hope now. :(
  3. Markakis and Hayden Penn, then, it had better be. Markakis and Loewen would be preferable, imo. Loewen is like Hill, only with a sinker and younger.
  4. Honestly, most people saw that Pierre trade coming a mile away. We all knew Jimmy boy coveted a solution to top of the order, speed, and CF. We also knew the Marlins were looking for pitching that was ML-ready (or close to it) and would be cheap for a reasonable length of time. Plus, sports writers are awesome at throwing crap at the wall 365 days a year. Thing is, the one time it actually sticks, you proclaim yourself a success and then everyone worships you for it.
  5. Oh noes. PRIOR IS NOT FREAKIN INJURY PRONE. He got hit in the arm by a freak line drive. NOT INJURY PRONE. Therefore the chance that his arm falls of is highly highly highly HIGHLY unlikely. Then again, Dusty could always trot Prior out there and set all kinds of pitch count records. Great mechanics or not, there is the Baker Factor to take into account.
  6. To have his 3-4-5 look something like... Lee Jones Ramirez Just to split up the two righties?
  7. Felix Hernandez for me if that were the case.
  8. See, I'd think that, but considering most Cardinals fans on this board would be pleased to see the Cubs make this move and most of the rational White Sox fans over on WSI also would like to see the Cubs make this move, I'm inclined to doubt that.
  9. Taking a shot at the end zone on 4th and 1 was going for the jugular. Moose has the Packers' throats in his hands, then had it slip out of his hands. How far were we for a field goal? ~46 yards.
  10. I've never seen it called before in my life. Now I've seen it twice in one game.

  12. Well, the Packers are making this a bit too interesting for my tastes.
  13. Huh? That came out badly. Change it to: "Merry Christmas from the Bears' special teams, Packers fans! Have some of your dignity back. :D"
  14. Merry Christmas, here's some dignity Packer fans.
  15. He got hit right after throwing that pass.
  16. WOW what the hell does that mean? :D lol http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=incontrovertible :D :D :D
  17. I'm going with no incontrovertible video evidence on this one.
  18. Isn't Rex due another ACL tear? I see Favre's back to drinking and popping painkillers.
  19. Interesting. So there were no 20 game winners with a >3.80 ERA from 1986-1990 and 1992-1996? Hm. I don't have much to add to this post, but just found the results interesting.
  20. Oh! Oh! I found more! 2001, for example: Tim Hudson: 20-6, 4.14 ERA David Wells: 20-8, 4.11 ERA Darryl Kile: 20-9, 3.91 ERA
  21. Show me the last pitcher who had a mediocre season and won 20 games. Pitching very well is a pre-req for winning 20 games. Russ Ortiz in 2003. Damnit, ok show me the last one before him. Does Andy Pettitte in 2003 count? How about in 2000, when he had 19 wins? 1996?
  22. I'm hoping that this is the result of a telephone game-like situation gone out of control. As in... Jim Hendry to Assistant GM: I asked the Orioles about Tejada and they said that they'd trade him only for Prior. I told them I'd only do that trade if they threw in Erik Bedard, Daniel Cabrera, Nick Markakis, Adam Loewen, JJ Johnson, and Hayden Penn. Assistant GM to Intern: Jimbo said that he'd trade Prior for Tejada, Bedard, and prospects. Intern to Ken Rosenthal: Jim Hendry said he'd trade Prior for Tejada and some other dudes...I dunno who they were. Ken Rosenthal in his article: Jim Hendry would trade Mark Prior for Miguel Tejada! Journalists who rip off Rosenthal's article: Jim Hendry is deadset on trading Prior for Tejada! Journalists who rip off of each other: Jim Hendry is close to dealing Mark Prior for Miguel Tejada...purple monkey dishwasher!
  23. Needless to say, I'm incredibly thankful the Orioles are being quite greedy in this whole process. Look, I like Tejada and think he would be an automatic upgrade over what we currently have at SS. He'll produce nicely in this lineup and his contract is reasonable. I have no problem with Hendry making a move to acquire him. But...he's not the kind of bat that would turn this offense into a juggernaut for the next few years. He's not a Manny Ramirez, a Miguel Cabrera, or an Albert Pujols. Heck, he's not even a Bobby Abreu or a Lance Bekman. As it's been said, Tejada would make a solid 5th hitter. I don't think he'll out-produce Aramis Ramirez next season and I think there's a reasonable chance that Derrek Lee out-produces Tejada, as well. If the Cubs are going to trade Prior, my hope would be that it would be for some one who could make this team an offensive force. I don't see that in Tejada. I'm also worried that Tejada's production and range will continue to decline over the length of his contract. If he has to move from SS because his range has taken a nosedive, then his value will go flying out the window. I really do hope that if the Cubs trade Prior to the Orioles that they get some worthwhile prospects from the Orioles. Trading Prior for just Tejada and Bedard would be a mistake, imo. At least some decent prospects would make it suck less.
