  1. Sanchez and Lowry are a pretty substantial step behind Hill in terms of their potential and production. I think someone more along the lines of Sean Marshall would get the job done.
  2. His stuff has also gone flying out the window. The guy was supposed to have dynamite stuff and move quickly coming out of the draft. When he began his career in the Cubs' organization in the AZ League, everyone was praising his stuff and thought he'd be a likely bet to start 2006 in Peoria. BA named him the #1 prospect in the AZ League, allowing him to beat out Nick Adenhart for the honor. Since then, though, his stuff has taken a huge step back. It'd be one thing if he were out of shape, had bad mechanics, and still had pretty good stuff...but that just isn't the case.
  3. It's as I said a few days ago, I'd be fine with losing out on Fukudome if the team who signs him ends up signing him to a ludicrous team-killing contract.
  4. Ok Monty....is it curtain 1 - 2 or 3? Don't forget to switch after they open one of the curtains with a goat behind it. Ahh man...did you have to say goat? That's the biggest problem with the Cubs. They never pay attention to the statistics and probabilities. :(

  6. Hey and maybe after school we could go to Arnold's and get a burger and a shake! What do ya say? Golly gee paw...really?! Can we go to Stark's pond and skip stones, too??
  7. The applicable legal phrase that works with Meph is that you have to take the bitter with the sweet. Sure, his personality is about as enjoyable as a fart in a crowded elevator, but he knows how to back his stuff up. As an FYI, Bedard was on the 60 Day DL this season for a strained oblique. He also had a knee problem in 2005 that caused him to miss a good amount of time.
  8. Um...why does Fuku Clock put together not get through the word filter?
  9. I can't say I'm a fan of DeRosa manning RF every day. He provides decent production for a 2B/utility guy, but as a RF, I'd want someone better. Soriano-Pie-Fuku would be a swell OF.
  10. A dominating pitching staff is key, but as the Padres proved last year, you still need some help from your offense. Proved how? The Rockies needed a 163rd game to beat them and get into the playoffs.
  11. They need offense in a bad way, but they have to get it either through upping their payroll and smartly acquiring free agents or through rebuilding from within. Considering their history of developing position players is just as illustrious as the Cubs, that seems problematic. Rios is a nice OF and everything, but he's nowhere near the level that would allow the Giants to offset any loss in production caused by trading one of Cain or Lincecum away. He would not make the Giants' offense much better, if at all better, than it was last season; especially considering Bonds won't be back. He'd be under their control for three years and would start to get expensive in a hurry thanks to arbitration. Moreover, the Giants would have Cain and Lincecum under control for a longer period of time. I could understand trading one of those two guys away for a good package of players with Rios at the center. But...straight up for Rios? That'd be lunacy.
  12. It depends on whether they sign Barrett. If they do, it's good for us.
  13. Could have been another HS hitter we failed to develop into a useful player. Quite possible. However, that won't stop me from being bitter.
  14. If the deal is Lowry and spare parts for Matsui, it wouldn't be a bad deal for the Giants. The Giants have some guys who have some interesting potential at the corners, but none of the OFs in their system would be likely to produce the way Matsui can. Lowry's stats from last season are deceptive. He's not as good as people think. Cain or Lincecum for Matsui, on the other hand, would be stupid.
  15. I sense a new word filter is upon us! I'm not sure referring to people as "flippy dippys" is really much better. Agreed. I shall have a conversation with the filter dude. It's not a filter. A mod edited those posts to put in the lesser of two evils. *Shrug*
  16. Welcome aboard! It's not a bad idea, in all honesty. I'm more partial towards Kemp, but that's just me.

  19. But...but...what will we do without all of our bad So Taguchi puns in the game threads?!
  20. Also, for your amusement: http://img90.imageshack.us/img90/8229/50catdreamswalrusgx3.jpg
  21. I take a break to get dinner and watch a movie (The Third Man!)...only to come back and see nothing's changed. I enjoyed reading the comment someone made about having to wade through 10 pages of crap to find my post-padder comment, though. The implications of that were rather flattering.
