  3. Overrated, no, but in the times he's had a chance to see significantly playing time, he hasn't exactly shown he's a top receiver.
  4. Let me guess, you also think little green men were behind the Kennedy assassination, thanks in part to George H. W. Bush and a grant from the Rand Corporation?
  5. He really needs to cut that out, dude. Fixed that for you.
  6. There's always money in the banana stand.
  7. Good news Browns fans! You now have no reason to watch the first day of the draft.
  8. Jacque Jones' career line: .280/.329/.455 I can't say these projections make me all that excited.
  9. He had a good career and seemed like a decent guy. Sad to see him go, glad the Cubs decided not to pick him up over Fukudome.
  10. I'm lukewarm on it. Gallagher still has some development left to do, but he could be an asset to this team if injury/sucktitude problems hit by mid-season. I don't like the way the Cubs are looking at SS coming into next season if they don't have Cedeno in there. E-Patt and Veal I won't feel too bad about seeing go.
  11. THIS. IS. BALTIMORE. I'm eating a Chick-Fil-A grilled chicken sandwich with honey BBQ sauce. THIS. IS. DELICIOUS!
  12. Doesn't WARP3 take defense into account? That'd help explain the discrepancy.
  13. Yeah, I now believe that in addition to being overrated in the cubs eyes, yes also overrated in BAs eyes. Sure, hes a 5 tool player, he just doesnt do any of them well. He gets a lot of heat around here and I think there's a decent chance he'll develop into a halfway decent OF. However, the more I look at his numbers, the more down on him I get. Maybe he "looks like a baseball player" or whatever, but it's so rare to see a guy make it to the majors with those kinds of walk rates and play at an above average level.
  14. The irony is strong in this thread.
  15. My position on Colvin sure has flipped around since then.
  16. As a Wiconsin Badger alum, a University of Illinois student, and a Chicago native, I approve of the Iowa bashing. :D

  18. You're welcome for that animated gif!
  19. Wrigley made an ambiguous statement. Frankly, either interpretation is reasonable. ...crap. I've been reading too much about the Chevron doctrine lately. Friggin' Admin Law...
  20. He's the #2 QB on my wishlist for the Bears, behind Brian Brohm. I'm hoping the Bears use one of their third rounders on him.
  21. The problem with a lot of scouting publications is that they tend to equate "plate discipline" with "plate coverage" when talking about hitters. Granted, the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive. There are plenty of good hitters out there who can effectively foul off a bunch of unfavorable pitches while still drawing a number of walks. However, while it's possible for a player to have both attributes, it is also certainly possible that a player has one attribute, but not the other. What worries me about prospects (especially out of HS) is that they only have good plate coverage skills. As they move up the ladder, those skills will most likely diminish as they face better pitchers, which will effectively result in guys swinging at bad pitches and piling up weak hits and strikeouts. We'll see whether Vitters falls into either category or both. For now, I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.
