  1. There are bad picks here, but there are no realistically bad picks here.
  2. Daniels will be fun to watch for six games before he breaks in half.
  3. Laurence Holmes interview of Brandon Johnson Good Lord, Brandon Johnson is a dunce.
  4. LET'S horsefeathers GO!
  5. It's so insulting reading press releases and puff pieces about how many billions of dollars a new stadium on the lakefront will bring to the community. They're basically turning the existing site into a park, moving the damn thing down the street, adding a dome, and vaguely increasing seating capacity. I don't see a business district, hotels, housing, or anything else in the renderings. At best, this will result in a handful of new events being irregularly held at the new stadium during the NFL offseason.
  6. Lakefront Proposal Will Cost Taxpayers over $2bn horsefeathers. That.
  7. As horrifically depressing as it is to contemplate AK bringing the gang back together again for yet another season, I think at this point something has to give.
  8. It's been covered ad nauseam elsewhere, but you guys are both right. He's not locating and his stuff has regressed from last year. Granted, my vague recollection of Kyle's career is that he is usually a slow starter each season. The problem this season is, with his regression, that now means he's killing the bullpen in the early going since he's lucky to go 5 IP.
  9. Considering this road trip showed us that: (1) Ben Brown is legit; (2) Keegan Thompson is still somehow useful(?); and (3) Wesneski should never see Iowa again, I'll call it a success. It was discussed a bit this past offseason, but remember, going into 2023 there were a ton of questions about pitching depth that caught up with the team in August/September. Today, I feel much better about about this team's pitching depth.
  10. Except this year's draft suuuuuuuuuuuuucks. The fact that Clingan is seen as a possible top 3 pick in some circles should tell us something about the depth and quality of talent available this year.
  11. He tried to do too much with it. It was a routine out at 1st, but he wanted the double play and rushed it.
  12. I love and hate that I know that no lead is safe in any game this team plays, regardless of who has the lead.
  13. I'm taking it as a really good sign that the Cubs won another game they should have lost this season, particularly given their recent injury luck.
  14. Following last night's draft, Caitlin Clark finds herself moving from Iowa to Indiana, which can be considered an upgrade in the loosest sense of the word. More intriguingly, the Chicago Sky picked up college rivals Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese. I'm kinda excited to see what Reese can bring to the Sky both on and off the court, given her reputation and popularity.
  15. And also smoke from front offices looking for leverage. If, for example, AZ's front office is talking up JJ behind the scenes in an effort to get someone to overpay in a trade up for him, the usual suspects will slobber it up and spew it out with trash takes like, "and unnamed scouting director says JJ is #1 on their board" or "NFL sources are seriously impressed with JJ's private workouts and don't see him lasting past 3." It's an ouroboros of horsefeathers.
  16. It's not just TJS with Brown, though, because he puts a ton of strain on the rest of his body. He didn't look anywhere close to being the same guy last year after he went down with an oblique strain and struggled in his comeback. If they can get 100+ IP out of him as an SP this season, awesome, but I've always had him earmarked as a dynamite closer for this reason.
  17. Assad might be our second best SP right now. And yes, that's a compliment.
  18. It sincerely annoys me how long it takes the NFL to go from Super Bowl to the Draft. They can do this horsefeathers in March.
  19. Have at it!
  20. Sigh. FIIIIIIIINE.
