I'm having trouble seeing where that hit Beckham on the replay.

It was one of the most impressive storms I'd ever seen down here. It was reminiscent of the huge lightning storm that passed through Chicago last year that caused Lance Berkman to nearly crap himself while on the field.

Yet its strange that HR numbers went down sharply when they started to test for steroids. Only not. The new policy was handed down in 2005, but the differences in the home run rates pre-2005 and post-2005 are not particularly telling of anything, especially if you think of steroids as having flourished in baseball starting in the mid-90s. To say the numbers have gone down sharply is incorrect.

It's the Wild West. Way back in this thread people were complaining that the Cubs don't spend big in LA. I can see why. They are cleaning things up, or so it seems. I'd like to see an international draft. If teams don't want to invest in LA or the Pacific Rim, find and draft top talent so be it, but those that do will spend their pick on a longer term "investment". I think it will be good for both large and small market teams. I agree. This is a lot to be gained by looking in the pacific rim. Though the practice of "hiding" a player bothers me from a moral standpoint, it doesn't keep a great spirit of fair competition, either. If I were an MLB team scout, I'd look elsewhere just to seek out a more level playing field. Plus, most importantly, players in the Pacific Rim tend to come much cheaper than in Latin America.

I've been debating who, out of everyone that's played baseball since 1985, would be the absolute most devastating name for baseball to have revealed as a steroid user. Junior Griffey would probably be #2 behind Ripken. I'm open to other names and suggestions, though. Jeter? Maddux? Good choices. I was also thinking Pujols and Mo Rivera.

It looks evasive when he's only doing it in response to hostile questioning. If he's speaking English fine in response to questions which are friendly to him, especially if he is giving answers which are more than 1-2 sentences and require some amount of thought (which he did on a number of occasions), and then turning right around and saying he doesn't understand a hostile question, even if that question is simple and to the point, it most definitely looks bad on his part. People will see that as him intentionally evading hostile questions. Moreover, I really think you're not giving Sammy's English skills enough credit. The guy was fluent. He may have spoken with a heavy accent, but he spoke English quite well.

It makes more sense for Dylan Johnston to stay in Mesa and see how he progresses,but when have the powers that be ever made a decision that makes sense? Dylan is already listed as an outfielder on the roster on the Boise site ( but then again, so is Ryan Sontag....and he is a pitcher now) It also lists some players who have been released, such as Harol Tolentino. That roster is not accurate.
