  1. I'd always heard about this, but I didn't find confirmation until I dug around for information until today. Link
  2. My point of view on Twitter in a nutshell.
  3. Yeah, I don't get the whole Boras thing he mentioned. I took him up on it in the comments. We'll see what he says. He may have confused his Chicago teams. The White Sox have a very negative relationship with Boras.
  4. Is Tyler Colvin the only hope down there? I know he plays DH and plays LF. I don't see Brad Snyder being a everyday guy in the bigs. Colvin's played some CF, although I have my doubts that he'll stick there. He's a good athlete, but he'll end up in a corner. However, with his injuries and iffy production, most people seem to think he'll be a 4th OF in the majors. There's no one in the OF to really get excited about in this system either because they are low ceiling guys, are not producing, and/or because they're too far away to merit the hype.
  5. Reportedly, he really wants to be drafted as a catcher, but he's been much, much stronger as a pitcher. He might want to return to USC in an attempt to boost his stock for next year's draft. Andy Seiler posted a draft preview for the Cubs. I have some issues with what he said, but it's a good read.
  6. Does it help to imagine how difficult it will be for him to guarantee that third year? It won't be difficult at all. There is essentially zero chance that the third year doesn't vest. Thank Lou for all of those worthless PH appearances he gave Bradley while Bradley was nursing his previous ouchie.

  8. Or if Marmol could throw a strike. Or if Lee could cleanly field Theriot's low throw. Or if Gregg didn't throw a gimme down the middle to Francoeur.
  9. What could I get for a walkoff balk? For you? 125-1
  10. Taking all bets! I've got odds for ya on this inning! 2-1: Walkoff single 4-1: Walkoff double 10-1: Walkoff homer 30-1: Walkoff walk 50-1: Walkoff triple 75-1: Walkoff HBP 100-1: Walkoff WP/PB Take your bets!
  11. The home plate umpire turns into a zombie, bites a bunch of Braves, and the Braves have to forfeit.
  12. I don't think there'd be much of a difference in performance compared to the pen right now if the Cubs cobbled together a bullpen out of the guys in AA and AAA.
  13. Can we get a do-over with the bullpen? I have absolutely no faith in anyone pitching in there right now.
  14. Throwing a meatball down the middle to someone who swings at anything close to the plate comes immediately to mind. If you're going to rip on Soto, Marmol's awesome 8th also deserves mention, as does Lee's dropped ball that got that mess going.
  15. He kept missing up. I think Lou was worried that Wells would get shelled if he left him in there.
  16. Kevin Gregg owes Randy Wells steak dinner for a week.
