  1. Back to back picking on the Pirates posts. What's the story here? Does this guy not belong anywhere near the top 5? Yep. Tony Sanchez isn't a particularly bad player or anything. He's a polished college player who'll stick at catcher and could be a decent every day starter in the majors. I think people have had him as a potential supplemental 1st rounder, maybe a touch higher. However, he has nothing like the ceilings of other players who will be available at #4 for the Pirates to take. It's clear that the Pirates are taking him to save money.
  2. Keith Law's reporting the Buccos officially have a pre-draft deal in place with Sanchez and will select him #4 overall. Oh, how I hope this blows up in their faces.
  3. New signing deadline for draftees confirmed due to August 15th falling on a Saturday.
  4. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Looks like they put that one together before the Sanchez to the Pirates rumors spread like wildfire, along with the news of the recent increased demands of the HS draftees. /holding out hope
  5. Well, to be fair, they did draft Michael Brenly in 2005...and didn't sign him. :( What a depressing draft that's become.
  6. I'm just hoping the same holds true for Brett Jackson.
  7. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand Keith Law's chat has been borderline worthless so far. However, he has been rather snarky in his answers. It's vaguely amusing.
  8. If we're hoping for guys who probably are unlikely to fall to 31, I'm going to go ahead and hope Matzek's sudden bonus demands drop him down to the Cubs. I'm hoping that for Turner since the Cubs have actually been rumored to be after him.
  9. I looked and it doesn't look like there is. I think they are just doing regular everyday shows up until the draft. Thanks! I know Keith Law will have a bunch of appearances on ESPNews today and PTI. I'm guessing Jim Callis will get on ESPN too at some point. PTI will just be Wilbon whining about the MLB Draft and how he hates it even more than the NFL Draft. I'd probably pass on that.
  10. BA's Last Mock Grant Green isn't even in there, weirdly enough.

  15. Considering we're a little over 24 hours from the start of MLB Draft, I figured it'd be interesting to see what everyone thinks the Cubs will do with the 31st pick. So, post who you think they'll take with that pick. I'll start with... OF Brett Jackson, Cal
  16. I'm hoping those crazy rumors of Jackson to the Giants are true.
  17. AJ Pollock makes another appearance for the Cubs in Jim Callis' & John Manuel's latest mock.
  18. Thought he was going to be more of a second rounder, but it seems like he's been flying up the boards and could be a first rounder. However... So, it's not that I disagree with Renfroe as a pick, but that it was a bit too early for him. We'll see come draft day.
  19. That's a thing of beauty.
  20. on pace means on pace Man this board's been uptight lately. Lately?
