  1. Ian Krol just went to the A's. They should be able to sign him with the draft budget they have.
  2. I got this nagging feeling that he'd end up in the OF when I saw him. 2B is a possibility...but ehhhhhh...
  3. Great overdraft, Astros. They announced him as a SS, to boot.
  4. Not a huge fan in the times I've seen him, but he fits the mold for the Cubs. He'll prob. go around the 7th and should be a good pick for that slot. Sounds about right. I can see him being a decent 4th OF as his ceiling, especially given his height (or lack thereof). I'd be fine with him around that area.
  5. After being selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 5th round, Austin Wood's arm exploded.
  6. Not a huge fan in the times I've seen him, but he fits the mold for the Cubs.
  7. Luke Bailey to the Rays? Yikes. They can sign him.
  8. He refused to sign as a second rounder last year. Now, he's a senior with much less leverage and will be 23yo. in two months. No leverage on his part, but should be fun to see if the Cardinals attempt to lowball him.
  9. He refused to sign as a second rounder last year.
  10. And now Songco. Raaaaaaaaagh. Quit taking players I like, other teams!!
  11. Dwyer just went off the board to the Royals. They're having a really, really good draft so far.
  12. San Diego just took Keyvius Sampson. Since when did they have money to sign their draft picks?

  14. We could use a cooper or ewerer, though.
  15. I'm not going to get my panties all in a bunch over draft choices the day after, because we really have no idea how these guys will pan out, but quotes like these are so annoying to see from the Cubs. Why can't we ever see Wilken say things like, "We loved his approach at the plate" or "This guy has tremendous power to all fields" or even "He's a remarkable defensive player." We always end up hearing about athleticism, makeup, clutchiness and gamer-ism. Because that's how "baseball people" talk. Grit. Gamer. Hustle. Heart.

  17. Eh, every draft has its share of busts in the Top 10. Heck, just look at the Top 10 for the 2003 draft. The biggest bust in recent memory has to be Matt Bush, though. What a disaster he turned out to be.
  18. In that regard, one of the main concerns I have with Jackson is the possibility that he'll have to move off of CF if he wants to put on more muscle in order to develop more power. If he can somehow hit 20 HRs a year and still be a good CF, then I'd have less of a problem with his bat. I'm going to root my butt off for these three guys, but yeah, I can't say I'm pleased with how the first day went.
