    I remember Tyler Colvin had some issues coming back from Tommy John Surgery early in the 2009 season, which limited him mostly to DH and bench duty in Daytona at the start of the season. Sometimes guys can be a bit rusty or sore in coming back from that surgery.

    I've liked Lowry for awhile, so I'd be in favor of this move if he's fully healthy.

    Nah, it comes down to that 12th man in the huddle. If not for that, it was an automatic run call for the next play and Longwell probably would have come through. Bingo Favre could have tucked it and run, picked up a few yards and gotten them back to where they likely would have been had they not had the penalty. He didn't have to try to force a throw like he did. He could have thrown the ball away if he didn't have it in him to run, to boot.

Bingo Actually, it comes down to the timeout called with 19 seconds left. They should have let the clock run down, called timeout, and kicked the FG.

    I think Cashner's the most likely candidate out of the Top 10 to end up with the Cubs at some point this season. It's easy to envision Lou Piniella being unhappy with the bullpen and wanting Cashner up as soon as possible to add reinforcements and have a guy who can easily be shuttled back and forth to help with roster issues.

    I was going to say that but you beat me to it. Maddux is definitely the type of great player who you could see becoming a great GM or manager but great players don't seem to do well in those roles. I just don't think they can relate to a majority of players because it was always so easy for them. Jordan would be a great example. Greatest player ever IMO but can't evaluate talent worth a lick. Jerry West is the only great player that could really evaluate talent that I can think of. Ozzie Newsome is in the NFL HOF and has done a great job as the GM of the Baltimore Ravens. It's rare, but it's not unheard of.

    That all depends on what my scouts tell me. There are a number of people who think he is one of the best pitchers in the world and has the potential to be a legitimate ace. $30m is not a bad price to pay if your scouts, coaches, developmental personnel, and the like are all convinced of this. As things stand right now, yes, I would rather spend that money through other international signings and the draft.

    In fairness, how many of those $1m players are likely to become as good as Chapman currently is? How many of them would have a ceiling comparable to Chapman?

    I'm convinced both teams would score triple digits if the NFL had college OT rules.
