  1. Coleman in for the third straight inning. Weird. Kottaras doubles. First out is a popout to Castro, who's in at SS. Coleman pulled. New pitcher (Marcos Mateo) coming in for the Cubs. Salome flies out to Fuld for the second out. Gomez lines out to left for the third out.
  2. Halama in for the Brewers. Soriano Ks swinging. Pat apparently thinks the Cubs are playing Minnesota. Fontenot flies out to left. Soto Ks swinging.
  3. Coleman still pitching. Strikes out the first batter. Fielder grounds out to 1B for out #2. Edmonds HBP. RBI double for Jody Gerut off the wall, Edmonds beats the tag. 3-3 tie. Surprisingly, Ron knows who Josh Vitters is. Flyout for out #3.
  4. Theriot leads off with a well-hit ball to LF, Edmonds makes it close, but Theriot gets in with a double. Fukudome BBs. Lee with a lineout to LF for the first out. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand boredom is setting in for Pat & Ron as they discuss sprained knees and LaTroy Hawkins pitching to Jonathan Lucroy. Ramirez pops out to 1B for the second out. Byrd with a DEEP fly out. Gomez gloved it, crashed into the wall, juggles the ball, and hangs on for the out.
  5. Casey Coleman in for the Cubs. Neat. First out (Heather? Heether?) is a broken bat groundout for the first out. LuCroy with a pop out to right for the second out. PH George Kottaras (I think) BBs. Someone singled, runners at the corners. Deep flyout to RF for the third out.
  6. Vargas in for Milwaukee. Fontenot flies out to LF for the first out. Soto strikes out looking for the second out. LaHair, PHing for Wells, flies out for the third out.
  7. Marmol in for the Cubs. Weeks with an IF single off of Ramirez's glove. Sounds like he short-armed it and he should have had it. Counsell caught looking on strike 3 for the first out. Weeks steals 2B, sounds like fault was on Marmol for a high pitch. Gomez gets a knee-buckler slider on 3-2 called ball four, but was close. Runners on 1st and 2nd. RBI Single for Prince Fielder. Runners on 1st and 2nd, 3-1 Cubs. Marmol left his breaking ball up. Gomez gets a huge jump on Marmol and breaks for 3rd, Soto overthrows Ramirez and Gomez scores. 3-2 Cubs. Edmonds strikes out swinging for the 2nd out. 3rd out is a K, didn't catch who was at the plate.
  8. Lee with an opposite field HR! 3-0 Cubs Ramirez grounds out for the first out. Byrd with a routine groundout to short for the second out. Soriano Ks swinging for the third out.
  9. Wells starts the 3rd and racks up a K. Then he gets a groundout for the next batter. And then he gets Suppan to ground out on what sounded like a difficult play from Fontenot to Lee.
  10. Fukudome grounds out. Going to the top of the 3rd, 2-0 Cubs.
  11. Wells with a deep fly out, Soriano scores, Fontenot moves to 3rd. Runners at the corners. 2-0 Cubs.
  12. Fontenot singles in Byrd, runners at the corners.
  13. Soriano with a deep double, Byrd had to hold up at 2nd and advanced to 3rd.
  14. Rain delay. Neither pitcher has started warming up. Should be starting later.
  15. Game's starting in a few minutes and I'll be listening on WGN Radio. I fully expect Pat & Ron to be discussing cargo shorts and the mechanics of windmills by the fourth inning. Lineup: Theriot, SS Fukudome, RF Lee, D, 1B Ramirez, A, 3B Byrd, CF Soriano, A, LF Fontenot, 2B Soto, C Wells, R, P
  16. What makes you think Scott Downs, Jason Frasor, or any of the other potentially available relievers will be legitimately good? Downs struggled with injury problems last year and Frasor is coming off of a career year after three years of being a tick above average.
  17. Where I once wouldn't have been surprised to see Cashner in the bullpen come Opening Day, now I pretty much expect it.
  18. While they had the second fewest SB attempts, I'd love to know how they compared with the rest of the majors in hit & run attempts.
  19. Jesus, I like him very much. But he no help with curveball.
  20. LOL seriously? Considering the byline, this really doesn't come as a surprise.
  21. Which is a bit ridiculous. He's got two very good pitches in his pitcher and slider, along with a changeup that's developing but supposed to be halfway decent. Comparing him to Kerry Wood is not something I'd wholly recommend, though. Also, it's worth pointing out that Cashner wasn't a full-time reliever during his time as an amateur. As memory serves me, he spent two seasons in junior college as a starting pitcher, but ended up moving to closer when he transferred to TCU for his junior season.
