  1. Another thing worth noting about DeWitt is that he's a very good defender at 3B. He probably won't hit enough to justify being there long term, but he can definitely hold down the fort over there if Ramirez opts out.
  2. Dodger fans seem to be under the impression that Wallach was a Top 10ish guy in their system. Judging from the scouting report and performance, I'd probably slot Wallach in the 11-15 range in our system.
  3. It's not a great return, but there's some definite upside to it. I like it a whole heck of a lot better than Maddux for Izturis.
  4. Minor League Splits likes him when you neutralize for park and luck, plus his age relative to AA is pretty nice. I like him, but I prefer Miller.
  5. He played pretty well in Atlanta, so I'm not too worried about his performance in Arizona. Plus, Theriot's going to ask for an unwarranted salary boost in arbitration in the offseason in any case, so I'd rather that money go to Johnson than him.
  6. He's a better option at 2B than Fontenot, Theriot, or Baker. I'd happily take him in exchange for Theriot/Russell.
  7. Correct. Daytona's only two games up in their division, so they're not exactly running away with it.
  8. Not at all. It's perfectly normal for a rookie to have a .396 batting average.
  9. Imagine what Paul Sullivan woulda said. Rozner, imo. All he'd have to do is take his past articles, replace "Aramis" with "Manny" and "third base" with "left field", and he'd have a year's worth of material already written.
  10. In loving memory: http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/1466/tackleowned2.gif
  11. Jackson came on as a defensive substitution for Matthew Spencer in the 8th inning. He didn't get a PA.

  14. With their 12th win in a row tonight, Daytona's been the hottest team in baseball over the past two weeks.
  15. He was big into basketball until his senior year of HS, when he switched to baseball. So yeah, he's relatively new to it.
  16. Outside of Castro and Lee, I'm not sure we have a SS as good as Gordon (or close, even). Junior Lake probably is, but all signs indicate him moving to third. I'll always take a little extra minor league depth. I'd probably take Gordon over Lee at this point, although it would be close. I think Lee has a better upside (namely on defense, where his arm at SS is better), but Gordon's playing well at a higher level than Lee right now. Still, it'd be fantastic to have that kind of depth at MIF. You never know who will pan out, plus that depth would be incredibly helpful in swinging trades.
  17. Yes, he was traded from Philly to the Mariners 5 months ago. He was traded again to the Rangers about two weeks ago.
  18. No thanks: http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=strang001dev BA had him as the #2 prospect in the MWL last season behind Aaron Hicks and ahead of guys like Brett Lawrie, Jaff Decker, Mike Montgomery, Eric Hosmer, and Josh Vitters. BA also listed him as the #46 prospect in baseball in the offseason and they have him somewhere in the 26-50 range in their midseason top 50. He's a good prospect and a better return than what anyone else would be willing to give the Cubs in return for Lilly.
  19. Hey, you can never have too many SS prospects. I'm not a huge fan of Gordon, but I'd be happy if the Cubs got him in a Ted Lilly deal. He's a Top 100 prospect with some nice upside. Also, fun side note, he's Tom Gordon's son.
