  1. Aside from the injury, how did Cashner look today? I saw online his fb was comfortably in the 90s and his slider had some really nice low and away action to righties. Here's hoping he makes a full recovery in a short amount of time.
  2. I still think they were told to attack Maholm early in the count today, at least in their first ABs. And it worked because they were smoking the ball...just at the Pirates. They worked the count fairly well on Opening Day. Right. Maholm was serving those pitches up and it would have been foolish to not take swings at them. Plus it didn't seem like he was working much outside the zone. The guy was working over the plate a good portion of the day. The main problem was that the Cubs weren't getting particularly good swings on a lot of his pitches. It didn't seem like Maholm was going to give up a whole lot of walks today.

  4. The rosters on MiLB are mostly from last season, I believe. They're not exactly reliable until just before opening day for the minor league season.
  5. The bullpen and Starlin Castro are NOT wasted on this team!
  6. Right pitch to hit, wrong way to hit it.
  7. They agree that neither has had a great game yet and will do anything possible to make the teams around them better.
  8. Hit that sucker deep the other way. Nice!
  9. rainout Potential t-storms tomorrow, so it may happen.
  10. Never heard of that rule before. Good to know. :good: According to Bob, if the runner was on the move, the base is considering unoccupied and Soriano could have run. However, if the runner was holding at 1B, the base is occupied. I just explained this rule to my boss. He is at the game and sent me a text screaming about Soriano, lol. Meh, I'm sure he would have found another reason to boo Soriano anyways. I'm looking forward to the inevitable Phil Rogers backhanded compliment.

  12. I don't mind if he shows it, but that sequence of events was kind of strange. The guy isn't exactly great at it. He was actually pretty successful doing that for TB since defenses started to shift against him. Really? Hm. It didn't seem that way from his AB, but I'll take your word for it.
  13. The question I have is whether Soriano knew that was the rule.
  14. Apparently, with a runner on 1st, you need two outs to advance on a WP strikeout. I think?
