  1. Looks like LSU could lose to Arkansas and still make the title game.
  2. Wisconsin's only win on the road this season is against Minnesota.
  3. I have complete and utter faith that LSU will screw up in the SEC title game against Georgia. A championship game selected from Alabama/Oklahoma/Oregon would be pretty nifty.
  4. I love seeing that. This team has some tremendous depth and a ton of sleeper candidates in the lower levels. If things go right next season, we might have ourselves a Top 5 system once again.
  5. Most teams in the Big Ten look like garbage on the road, but solid at home. It's why I'm dreading next week's Wisconsin/Illinois game.
  6. Sickels' writeup of the Royals' Top 20 prospects If we're looking at lower level prospects in a hypothetical trade, Jorge Bonifacio, Jason Adam, and Tim Melville are guys I like.
  7. That assumes the punter is able to make it to the end zone before he's tackled.
  8. I don't think the punter is fast enough to out run everyone in 9 seconds. Then they get the ball in your territory with a shot to win it. Why would you snap the ball to the punter? When you punt the ball out of bounds, the clock doesn't stop until the ball hits the ground. I don't think Podlesh would have been able to run 9 seconds off the clock if given the opportunity.
  9. A road win would be nice for once, Badgers.
  10. If Alabama gets into the title game over an undefeated BCS team, all hell will break loose.
  11. The intriguing question in my mind is, if Oregon and Alabama end up having the two best resumes for #2 in the nation, which rematch would voters choose?
  12. Apparently all of the touchdowns in LSU/Bama ended up in Stillwater. One step closer to a Boise State/Houston National Championship!
  13. I love this game. I know I'm in the minority with this but low scoring defensive football is awesome. I like it too, but not being a fan of either team I'd prefer just a tad more scoring. Looks like we might be getting a little more now. The QBs for these teams are awful.
  14. Hosmer, go big. Hosmer, Odorizzi, John Lamb, and a roll of the dice with Jorge Bonifacio Sold!
  15. So are we still expecting interviews with guys like Dave Martinez, Sandy Alomar Jr., and Terry Francona? We may not know anything for awhile if the Cubs are spending a full day or more with each candidate. I love what I hear about their interview process, but it might keep us all in suspense for a few weeks. The candidates they interview will meet with the media. I think we'll have a pretty good idea regarding the candidates as all of this goes forward.
  16. Their farm system is depleted and I don't think Boston would be willing to part with Ellsbury or Gonzalez. They don't have much. The Blue Jays are intriguing, on the other hand. I do loves me some Brett Lawrie.
  17. Admittedly, I now have to agree with this. I used to think now would be the perfect time to trade Garza, but frankly, his 2011 was a heck of a lot better than I originally thought. At this point, if I had to trade Garza, I'd want a package built around a proven young major leaguer with an elite upside and cheap team control remaining (i.e. Jason Heyward, Justin Upton, Mike Stanton) or a Top 10 prospect (Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, maybe Jesus Montero), along with at least one Top 50 prospect and a high upside prospect or two. In other words, I don't think any teams would be willing to give up what I'd want for Garza.
  18. I like the format. With a little more info/tweaking/comments, it could make a really fun infographic as part of the article, when you come out with it.
  19. He had two starting pitchers in the Top 30 in MLB in Pitcher Abuse Points (Dempster at #6, Garza at #25), despite the fact that neither was in the Top 30 in MLB for innings pitched. I can understand leaving a guy in past the 100 pitch mark when he's already deep in the game and cruising, but with Quade, it was not unusual to see someone like Dempster pitch 6 IP with 120+ pitches. On the flip side, he didn't sac bunt or IBB much. I really can't complain a whole lot about Quade aside from the way he handled starting pitching.
  20. Setting aside the idea of cost, I really like the idea of acquiring King Felix. Yeah, the 3/$60 is going to cost the Cubs, but they should be able to absorb that hit with a bunch of contracts coming off the books after 2012. There are always concerns about injuries and the like, but it's incredibly rare for ace caliber starters to be available in their primes. Cripes, Felix is still only 25 years old. That said, I don't think I'd do Castro for Felix straight up, given the money, the lack of quality shortstops available, and Castro's upside. It'd be one thing if the Cubs had someone in the system waiting in the wings who could fill in for Castro...but right now those options include Darwin Barney, DJ LeMahieu, and Marwin Gonzalez. That isn't particularly inspiring.
