  1. #### off, dusty /me
  2. By the way, of the 5 subtractions, 4 clearly because of performance issues. Lone exception: Ronnie Cedeno - no real knock on him, but he will get zero at bats with Nomar and Neifi around, so best to see him back in AAA. Yea, thats what I'm thinking too. Cedeno does not need to sit on the bench. He needs to play. And that wont happen with nomar back.
  3. Well, it seems like we've had a million of these things. But, due to the trade I think its time for one more. What is your new lineup with the additions of Lawton and Nomar (when he comes back friday). I have a couple of configurations: Lawton CF Walker 2B Lee 1B Aram 3B Nomar SS Burnitz RF Barrett C Murton LF Lawton CF Nomar SS Lee 1B Aram 3B Burnitz RF Walker 2B Murton LF Barrett C and one I think would be fun to try: Lawton RF Nomar SS Lee 1B Aram 3B Walker 2B Murton LF Hairston CF Barrett C Either way, a 2-5 consisting of Walker, Lee, Aram, Nomar is awesome.
  4. I see Hendry taking more control of the roster now that it is crunch time. I haven't figured out, though, if Macias is Dusty's boy or Hendry's boy. At any rate, here are the moves I'd make by next weekend: Subtractions: Mitre optioned, Wuertz optioned, Remlinger DFAd, Cedeno optioned, Macias DFAd. Additions: Wood activated, Williamson activated, Garciaparra activated, Fontenot called up, McClain called up. I agree with each and every one of those moves.
  5. Mets just took the lead on Houston. It'd be nice NOT to fall 5 games back. Gotta give props to the Mets for saving our butts today. No kidding. Go mutts!
  6. Kruk just called the Braves the biggest winner at the deadline because of their acquisition of Farnsworth. Kruk also said RJ would win 30 games this year. Point: Kruk has 0 credibility Thats pretty much what he wsa getting at. Kruk is a flippin idiot.
  7. Holy crap. If we DFA macias, i'd be more excited then if we wouldve gotten dunn. Do you really see that happening, Hoops? Also, I'd like to see fontenot.
  8. Griffey is a guy who would make it through waivers, because of his large contract. I sure would love to see the Cubs get him, however, I think the Cubs are done with deals for the season. Griffey could get through waivers, but could the players being sent to Cincy get through? The old PTBNL could cover that little speedbump. Oooh Oooh...wait, thats true. But, wouldnt the player still have to clear waivers whenever he is announced?
  9. Griffey is a guy who would make it through waivers, because of his large contract. I sure would love to see the Cubs get him, however, I think the Cubs are done with deals for the season. Griffey could get through waivers, but could the players being sent to Cincy get through? Exactly. I doubt whoever we send them would get through.
  10. Well, Unless something really really crazy is going on in which the deal has been agreed upon and for whatever reason selig has yet to approve it... i think this deal is dead. That being said, I forsee alot of waiver moves this year.
  11. No he was upset because he thought he bad been traded. He wanted to stay with the cubs this year, too. Managment had different Ideas.
  12. couldn't even hit a sac fly. pathetic. lmao. EDIT: I am also stealing your signature. That is awesomely horrible.
  13. Well, Farnsy will be a Cy young winner soon...
  14. I gave it a yuck label because of who we got. Lawton always does well in the first half, then DIES DIES DIES in teh second. Oh well. I guess this isnt too bad of a situation. I'm just a little dissapointed we couldnt nab somebody else.
  15. YUCK. I get home from work, and our big deadline aquisition is............!!!! Matt Lawton? Nasty. He is always good the first half, but he sucks muchos alotos the last half. So, Now, my question is what are we doing with todd hollandsworth? Are we having a Holla/Murton/Lawton platoon?? Or is holla finally going to be strictly a bench guy?
  16. Well, I'm off to work now. By the time I get back we better have somone new on this team. Thats all i gotta say.
  17. Bah. Runs have absoloutley nothing to do with him. Well, a player does have to get on base, but after that, it is soley in the hands of the other players on the team. RBI's is pretty similar. Outside of HR's you cant create an RBI all by yourself. Your team needs to help you. walker has the elad in avg (not that I like that category much anyways) Walker has a twenty point lead in OBP. We know soriano has more power and speed. And Soriano's OPS is horribly skewed by his SLG%. So, in the categories in which the player himself creates (i.e., not dependent on the team) they are fairly similar, with soriano having more power. Why way three times more for that?
  18. Yea there is like 54.2 (i think) million dollars in deferred money (at 4% interest). Its deferred till 2009-2024  I do NOT NOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOTNOT want Griffey. I'd LOVE dunn though. Whatever deferred salary Griffey has already earned would not be paid by the club that traded for him. For example, if a team traded for him this offseason they'd owe him no more than the $41.5 million he's owed over 2006-2008. (That's assuming the Reds don't send back a dime in the deal and Griffey's 2009 option is not picked up.) The defferred payments for 2000-2005 would still be the responsibility of the Reds. *rushes to go change transaction contest entry*
  19. Why not? He is a solid starter. He just SUCKS in the pen.
  20. For the ten thousandth time. A PLAYER BEING IN THE STARTING LINEUP DOESNT MEAN JACK. It happens all the time where a player is taken out of the middle of a game because he has been traded. And furthermore, last year Alex Gonzalez played the entire game the day he was traded.
  21. It is this year too. (eastern time)
  22. You do realize the Cubs have the 7th fewest strikeouts in all of baseball, right? Striking out too much is not the problem. BUT DUNN STRIKES OUT ALOTT!!!!!1111one Actually what people don't know is that we WALK less than any team in MLB and we have the FEWEST pitches per plate appearance. But since he strikes out too much he stinks and can't help us. Oh, wait.................. Exactly. Which is why he would be an awesome fit for us. Great power. Great eye. Wonderfull OBP. I'd be so so sososososoososo happy if we got him.
  23.    !!!!! Really though, thanks a ton for the great work Djaxx.
