  1. 1. Sammy Sosa . . . . . . 2. Carlos Zambrano 3. Kyle Farnsworth 4. Ty Cobb 5. Glenallen Hill
  2. My team: C- Barrett 1B-D. Lee 2B-T. Walker SS-Lopez 3B-Aram LF-Pujols CF-Berkman RF-Dunn SP-Z SP-Prior SP-Sheets SP-Carpenter SP-Z. Duke EDIT: Took out clemens/oswalt, put it Duke.
  3. No, there is a major difference. T.O. seems as if he is actively trying to disturb the peace. There are very few people in baseball that are even in the same league of assholeism as T.O. Honestly, I cant think of one man in baseball who tears his team to shambles like him. Owens is a special case, an exception to the rule, if you will. For the most part, the myth that is Team Chemistry is b.s. Winning causes good team chemistry, not the other way around. You can be as happy as you want but it wont get you anywhere if you cant perform. Therefore targeting one player over another because he is "knowlegable, and a good clubhouse presence" is going to get you nowhere. Pick players based on talent. People like Terrell Owens are exceptions to the rule.
  4. Farnsworth is one bad mammajamma. He also happens to get the best quotes from announcers "He just rackytacky'd him around home plate" "YOU KNEW ONCE BIG BOY GOT THERE IT WAS GON' BE ON!"
  5. No there are a lot of players who can bring: 1. a good work ethic 2. a good clubhouse presence 3. a job knowing abilitiy Heck, I'll do that and for the league minimum. What I hope Pierre brings is a +.350 OBP. The rest I could care less about. Exactly. I dont care if he "knows his job" i dont care that he's a "good clubhouse presence". I'll go back to my old standby "Babe ruth and lou gehrig didnt talk for 5 years, yet batted back to back, and things turned out pretty well" Chemistry and all these "intangibles" are bogus. Give me a .350+ OBP out of my leadoff guy and i'll be happy.
  6. Hooray. I really like grissom now.
  7. *Sigh* I really liked welly. i'll never forget his Minor league debut. That was amazing. Too bad he's been off and on since then. As far as the quality of this move goes, i put this officially in the "meh" file.
  8. Dude, capitalization and paragraph format. All the cool kids are doing it.
  9. Yah, tell me this wont scare you. Go ahead...tell me. http://www.jonmdavis.net/zambrano30sig.jpg Thats right. you cant.
  10. Oh for the love of all that is good please tell me that is a joke. Honestly, are you SERIOUSLY telling me that because it didnt hit him, it was okay. Are you SERIOUSLY telling me that you believe that was just a little intimidation, and it can cause better results for the team? That is possibly the most...unnerving...thing i have ever heard.
  11. Let's compare. Farnsworth http://cdn-channels.netscape.com/gallery/i/s/sports20050718/ROYALS1719E.jpg http://cubscast.com/images/week11.jpg Taverez http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v147/red_mustang/1143498926_7034.jpg Wow he punches like a sissy. I cant wait for farns to kick his butt.
  12. I think we have been over this topic before. And as far as i'm concerned, hendry is good, at best. He has made some spectacular trades: - Aram & Lofton for Bobby Hill & King K -Karros & Grudz for Hundley -NOmar & Murton for Agon, beltran, and Jones But he has done some not so great things: -The Farns trade -Overall Return of Sosa trade -Continued to allow macias to be on this team -Signed Neifi for how long, for HOW much!?! -Jaque Jones for 3 years?! -Questionable handling of minor leaguers -Not even ATTEMPTING to go after Brian Giles -$100Mil payroll...4th place. He should be held just as responsible as dusty. If we dont win this year, he should be on the curb w/ baker.
  13. This crap is ridiculous. Z is an emotional guy. He wants to win. Bad. We can sit here and say that he is showing up his teammates. Whatever. Is it possible that he's kicking the dirt and swearing because he saw a hit/error and thought it might impair his chances of winning. Of course not. He was obviously trying to show up his team mates! ...Right. I'm pretty sure everyone can see Z has an insane desire to win. That 'everyone' includes his teammates. Its so hypocritical that people call carlos immature for this, but no one remembers, or talks about how immature this was: http://www.looptvandfilm.com/blog/clemens2.jpg Please. Throwing inside, throwing tight, hitting batters (with BASEBALLS, on the body) is part of the game. Wanting to win is part of the game. Until Z does something outside of that, leave him alone.
  14. Yeah, not a big deal. I'll beleive that when i see him on the mound throwing. A ball. To hitters. in a game. a REAL game. The Cubs have lost all creadability with me.
  15. Group A: David Ortiz Group B: Adam Dunn, Derrek Lee Group C: Lance Berkman, Bobby Abreu, Morgan Ensberg Group D: Matt Murton, Jeff Francoeur, Jhonny Peralta, Chris Shelton Bonus: Prince Fielder.
  16. He's on the list.
  17. Yeah, and Hillary has said she's not interested in seeking the Presidency. Politicians are liars. Maddux isnt a politician.
  18. I drafted him first round in my Dynasty league this year...OH YEA BABY. That seems absurdly early. Unless I'm confused and it was a prospect only draft. You're confused. 5 round prospect-expansion draft.
  19. I drafted him first round in my Dynasty league this year...OH YEA BABY.
  20. Well, Since six are in april (aka no prior/wood month) you can chalk that up as a loss for every game Z doesnt start. Add in the fact that the cubs like to spite me, and i think that ammounts to a win total equal to that of the times Zambrano starts against them. (not even the cubs spiteful behavior can stop z)
  21. There, I had to fix that for you. I am now resigned to the fact that the cubs will never ever get a healthy season out of wood/prior ever. They are going to continue having strains/surgeries/freak line drives hit off them untill they finally give it up and retire. :alright:
  22. I was all excited when I saw this thread thinking it was like...real people.... *sigh*
  23. Lee dove and appeared to hurt his wrist in a WBC game the other day. But he shook it off and kept playing. But ugh, this is getting sad.
